Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Talk is that LeCras could be used in the midfield more so keep an eye on the NAB Cup.

Thoughts on my team -

Salary cap left: $31,900.

Backs - Brendon Goddard, Bryce Gibbs, Brett Deledio, Paul Duffield, Josh Drummond, Andy Otten, Dyson Heppell
Daniel Talia, Josh Toy, Nicholas Duigan

Mids - Dane Swan, Leigh Montagna, Matthew Boyd, Andrew Krakouer, David Swallow, Daniel Harris
Shaun Atley, Michael Hibberd, Ian Callinan

Rucks - Aaron Sandilands, Darren Jolly
Zac Smith, Joel Tippett

Forwards - Paul Chapman, Nick Riewoldt, Matthew Pavlich, Cyril Rioli, Colin Sylvia, Drew Petrie, Brandon Matera
Tendai Mzungu, Cameron Richardson, Luke Tapscott

I should point out that league win is my main aim!

Not a bad team overall
Back is good. only Drummond is a concern due to injury but if he is in good form he will score heavily. not sure about Talia. good end up being a good pick. other options are Faulks/Puopolo
Maybe get Gaff for Hibberd and move him onto the field for Harris. only saying this as it might be risky having two GC players starting in your midfield
Rucks are fine
Fowards are good try. not sure about Tapscott. try I.Smith
good luck on your aim:thumbsu:

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Goddard Gibbs Deledio Newman Grimes Otten Duigan
Heppell Toy Hibberd

Judd Selwood Pendles Boyd Swallow Harris
Gaff, Atley, Curnow

Jolly petrie
smith curnow

Riewoldt Franklin Harvey Rioli Mcglynn Krakouer MZungu
Prestia Richardson Callinan

Very nice team overall
Only concern is two GC players starting in your Mid (throw Gaff on)
Otherwise not a bad squad

Pretty good team there. I'd look at I Smith on the forwards and changing Tippet from your rucks Z. Smith and Gorringe will probably get more game time than Tippet, I'd look at maybe Cordy. You don't want two rookies from the same team on your ruck bench.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

B: Goddard Gibbs Enright Broughton Otten Heppell Coad (Faulks, Toy, Batchelor)

M: Swan Boyd Bartel Deledio A.Krakouer D.Swallow (Callinan, Harris, Wallis)

R: Sandilands Petrie (Smith, Bailey)

F: Chapman Riewoldt Franklin Pavlich Goodes Knights Prestia (Mzungu, Darling, I.Smith)

1st draft. Might have to change a few players with the bye situation.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

I know its early days, but here is a rough draft 40 odd days before the season starts.

Backs: Goddard, Delidio, Gibbs, Broughton, Grimes, Murphy, Otten (toy, talia, duigan)

Mids: Judd, Pendlebury, Bartel, Swallow, Gaff, Mzungu (atley, wallis, callinan)

Rucks: Sandilands, Clark (tippet, campbell)

Fwds: Chapman, Riewoldt (nick), Riolo, Sylvia, Dangerfield, Petrie, Krakouer (daw, lamb, smith)

Not 100% sure on the subs yet, i'll have to watch out for the youngsters in the NAB cup. Any advice?

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

So after posting a team this morning I've made yet more changes, so any advice would be welcomed at this point in time.

Backs: Goddard, Deledio, Broughton, Hurn, Otten, Heppell, Duigan (Toy, Pederson, Puopolo)

Mids: Swan, Hodge, Selwood, J, Swallow, D, Gibbs, Gaff (Mzungu, Harris, Conca)

Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Bailey, Derickx)

Fwds: Chapman, Riewoldt, N, Franklin, Pavlich, Petrie, Krakouer, Callinan (Richardson, Smith, Prestia)

I have 21k left in the bank, but the only thing I'm concerned about is starting 2 rookies in the backline.

If you are happy to start with 3 rookies in the midfield than the one suggestion that I would make is downgrading Murphy in your backline to Heppell then upgrading Dangerfield to another premium forward.

This is my final team prior to NAB cup form.

Backs:Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Otten, Toy, Duigan (Puopollo, Coad, Hibberd)
Mids:Swan, Hodge, Montagna, Anthony, D.Swallow, Gaff (Harris, Mzungu, Curnow)
Rucks:Sandilands, Cox (Z.Smith, Bailey)
Fwds:Chapman, Franklin, Roo, Rioli, Sylvia, A.Krakouer, I.Callinan (Richardson, Howe, Matera)

Thoughts?

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Do you have any ruckmen?

Jacobs has glandular fever.

Other than that, it's not too bad.

And for mine...

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Broughton, Gram, Greenwood, Otten, Heppell, (Toy, Puopolo, Hibberd/ Duigan)

M: Pendlebury, Griffen, Sewell, J. Kennedy, Anthony, D. Swallow, (Gaff, Harris, Wallis)

R: Sandilands, Jolly, (Petrie, Z. Smith)

F: N. Reiwoldt, O'Keefe, S. Johnson, Higgins, Hale, A. Krakouer, Prestia (Matera, Mzungu, Callinan)

Any thoughts?

Hey guys. Was hoping for some feedback on this team. Considering the number of teams being posted on here it doesn't really surprise.

Going for overall and league win. Team is based on my strategy but doesn't necessarily mean it's the right one.

So please, pick it to pieces, give it all you got!

J Kennedy in the middle is quite the unorthodox pick.

Higgins is, as always, injuryprone and may break your heart.

As a North supporter I'm surprised you have Hale in there. I would trade him out for a Richardson and upgrade Higgins to a premium, if possible.

Anyone see anything they think I should change? Is it to much of a risk starting 2 rookies in the midfield/backline?

Looks very solid across the board.

Again, not sure on Tapscott's fitness but he's not starting so it's not important.

Wait to see how Gaff performs in the NAB Cup before having him start in front of Harris.

Goddard/Gibbs/Deledio/Heppell are all dual position players but they're all in your backline. Rucks are strong. 3 Hawthorn players in your forward line? What happens when they have a bye?

Most people have a combination of Heppell/Toy/Duigan in their starting backline and DSwallow/Gaff/Atley/Conca in their midfield anyway. Not too much of an issue.

Thanks for the observations Flawed! Much appreciated...

Once again, its a first go and will be looking at rookies during the pre-season.

What does it matter if they are all duel-possie players? Not recommended?

In regards to the Hawthorn players, well good pickup, guess I'd be hoping my bench could cover slightly at this stage!

Any recommendations?

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

No worries. I'm no expert but I do try.

It just means they're available to be picked in the midfield as well as in defence. You can spread them around the team and pick other players that might score well, in either line. If you're happy with your defenders and your midfield then I suppose it doesn't matter that you've got so many in your backline.

In regards to the Hawthorn players, well good pickup, guess I'd be hoping my bench could cover slightly at this stage!

If you're hoping for Tapscott, Matera & Ablett to produce Franklin, Rioli & Smith-like numbers, you'll probably be disappointed. Mzungu from Fremantle looks set to get game time, as does Richardson from North. As always though, it's up to you. I don't know much about Matera, but sharing two players from the same forward line, they'll probably take points from each other.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

You have 5 players in your backline that can go into the mids, but no mids that can go back?

other than that, good team! I don't mind the inclusion of Tippet if hes knee is better and he gets good delivery he should score well!

Maybe throw Heppel in the midfield and put Gaff back on the bench then get another rookie back? Not sure.

Also....Buddy or Didak? Didak is carrying an injury already but could be useful as MPP if he holds up...

I have a feeling this could be Tippet's breakout year. If not, such a shame and waste for the talent he has.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Mine is less polished so far so thoughts

Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Goddard, Grimes, Laidlor, Otten,
Heppel,Toy, Puopolo

Judd, Pendlbury, Selwood, Jack, Wallis, Swallow (GC),
Gaff, Conca, Harris

Tippett, Petrie,
Smith, Charman

Reiwolt, Franklin, Rioli, Varcoe, Dangerfield, Krakouer, Prestia, Mzungu, B Johnson, Callinan

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

This team is changing every time I log in... Hourly... Anyway, Here's my current line up for any warmly welcomed advice and/or opinions. :thumbsu:

DEF: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Gilbert, Otten, Heppell (Toy, Puopolo, Duigan)
MID: Swan, Hodge, RoK, Foley, Swallow D, Conca (Gaff, Harris, Hibberd)
RUC: Sandilands, Jolly (Tippett J, Bailey)
FWD: Roo, Rioli, Goodes, Zaharakis, Petrie, Krakouer, Prestia (Talia, Mzungu, Callinan)

Some thoughs:
- I'm starting to think I want Selwood in there
- Might offload Petrie for Tippett OR just go a 3rd back up Ruck (no mpp) and get another FWD

No Swan or Ablett is a change... I'd be mindful of having Rioli AND Buddy. I'm not sold on Varcoe yet either, just think there's other options. Your rucks look a touch weak to me too. Any way to get in a Sandi/Jolly/Mummy etc??

Get Selwood, Lose RoK, and keep Petrie and Tippet, both in for very big years

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

Yer agreed Rucks are TINY BIT weak, its what im working on, as for Varcoe, im banking on him, as for Swan / Ablett, Ablett cloud plus new club, plan to pick him up when he drops in price, and went for pendulbury over swan cause hes only gunna get better, where Swan is at his peak.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

B: Goddard Gibbs Enright Broughton Otten Heppell Coad (Faulks, Toy, Batchelor)

M: Swan Boyd Bartel Deledio A.Krakouer D.Swallow (Callinan, Harris, Wallis)

R: Sandilands Petrie (Smith, Bailey)

F: Chapman Riewoldt Franklin Pavlich Goodes Knights Prestia (Mzungu, Darling, I.Smith)

1st draft. Might have to change a few players with the bye situation.

Feel free to critisize.

Re: 2011 Rate My Team

i feel like ive a pretty good starting side with changes to come.. feel free to give advice.

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, J Trengove, A Otten, M Watson (Toy, Cripps, Guthrie)

M: Swan, Boyd, Hayes, Bartel, Jack, Kerr (Swallow, Harris, Wallis)

R: Jamar, Hale (Z Smith, B McCulloch)

F: Pavlich, Gilbert, J Riewoldt, Higgins, Roughead, C Knights, Petrie (Mzungu, Callinan, B Matera)

struggled for cash for a 4th ruckman, but i figure ive got the depth there with petrie and also trengove

How is Trengove in DEF depth in your ruck?
I see that you can switch Petrie with Hale, but I thought Trengove could only MPP with Kepler Bradley, who you don't have.

Don't really see the point of loading up on your midfield like you have..
I'm assuming all will be keepers except for Kerr who is still injured by the way. You don't want to be upgrading keepers for better players..?
Judd, Selwood, Hodge, Montagna, Cross, Dal Santo will all average more than Boyd, Hayes, Bartel, Jack..?

IMO, you should get rid of Jack and Kerr, bring on Swallow and bring in Gaff.

With that money, upgrade Jackson Trengove to a better defender and if you have money left over, maybe upgrade boyd to Judd/Montagna or Uprgrade Jamar to Sandilands or Cox.

Forward line could be very hit and miss, Jack Riewoldt as your 3rd forward is very inconsisnent, Sam Gilbert is going to be used up forward a bit, could effect his scoring.

And 3 injury prone players in your forward line in higgins, petrie and knights which i would be wary of.

On top of that, No Chapman, Riewoldt, Franklin who are the 3 highest scoring forwards.

I'd rethink a couple of selections.

Best of luck mate.
