Rate the trade for both WCE and Carlton

Considering that Judd was out of contract and was leaving West Coast regardless of what deals were done I think they did as well as they could have hoped to. Obviously if he was still under contract you would demand a lot more but at the end of the day both teams did pretty well.

Don't think Carlton Screwed you to be honest, they had all the advantage.

Chris Judd screwed you when he said i only wanted to go to Carlton!

if he really wanted to go home for family reasons, he would of told West Coast there are 9 melbourne Clubs get me to one of them...

Most accurate thing said on BF ever :thumbsu:

Carlton - pulled off the greatest trade in history through sheer good luck

WCE - Absolutely reamed.
Carlton did well, but it was always going to be hard for w/c to get what judd was worth, as clubs cant give away too much. Alot depends on how kennedy turns out.
Essentially, Judd reamed West coast by not allowing them to shop for the best offer.

As some have said

Only time will tell

Will Judd be as good a player under a different coaching regime and without playing along side the likes of Cox, Kerr, Cousins, Stenglien & Co

Will Kennedy show more promise playing for a club with a winning culture and under the tutelage of the West Coast development program along with the players garnered in this draft

WCE, could come out of this in a really stong position, considering they now have 3, 13, 20 & Kennedy, along with the talk of pick 18 for Morton, add 4 Picks in the top 20 and Kennedy with a squad they already have, it is quite frightening really..

Don't dispair WCE fans, the future is really bright....

Fair trade, as much as it can be for a player like Judd.

Carlton gave up a lot - more than anyone ever has for a player. Justifiable, in this case, but certainly didn't ream WCE. Both sides would be happy enough, think they could come out winners, but be worried they came out of it badly. Therefore: even.

Hardly. Remember last year when Fremantle gave up Polak, Medhurst and pick 7 for Tarrant ? That's a lot more than pick 3, pick 20 and Kennedy !

assumed Kreuzer was pick 1.

I have. I was right. Think about it.

If you put Kreuzer on one side of the Ledger, you have to put the #1 pick on the other side. You either don't mention his name, or you include the pick as part of what Carl gave up. You can't just put him in there and say "they got Kreuzer as well" - they give up the #1 pick to get Kreuzer.

A - that's not what they gave up. Depending on how you look at it, they either gave up Polak, Medhurst + 13, or Medhurst + 8. Either way, far less than what Carl gave up.

B - The trade you said is a lot less than 3, 20 & Kennedy anyway. Kennedy > Polak, 3>>7, 20>Medhurst.

Does this make it easier for you.

Carlton have basically received Judd for pick 3 and have also received Kreuzer/PICK 1 for Kennedy and pick 20.

No, I think Edgar's got it right. If you got Kruezer for Kennedy and 20, then you'd still have #1.

Anyhoo, I don't know why people think this is such a one sided deal. In reality Judd has cost 3, 20, Kennedy and at least one of Gibbs, Murphy, Simpson, Carazzo and Walker. They won't win a flag in the next couple of years and someone's going to have to leave by then to keep paying Judd (who is now going to be very unlikely to rely on post-career arrangements considering Pratt will probably be behind bars or in Majorca by then).

And then there's the body (no, not Rebecca). Aaron Hamill definitely comes to mind, and it's certainly all the more reason for Judd, who obviously likes a dollar or two, to keep his contract high and long.

Meanwhile the Eagles, who were a goal away from knocking off Port in Adelaide to go to a home prelim (with 0% from Kerr, 33% from Judd and 75% from Cousins) will go just fine with Priddas stepping up. Then a couple of years from now their 3 or 4 top 20 picks + Kennedy + McNamara (who is special) will be coming along just fine.

Am I a bitter Richmond supporter? Ooh yes, on so many levels, but not over Judd. I'd say that the likelihood of the Blues being the winner out of this deal would be around 4/1.

Not really - it's still not right. They received Kreuzer/pick 1 for tanking, nothing to do with Judd, Kennedy or anything else - they already had Kreuzer/pick 1 before they even started talking to WC.

If you're going to mention Kreuzer as what Carlton are getting, then you have to say they are also giving up pci 1. I wouldn't have thought this was that complicated.

Josh Kennedy got the best deal, Judd just got the money and unhappy times at carlton. If Josh can break into the team, at least he gets to play finals. Judd can kiss good bye finals for a long time.

FFS -

Carlton have effectively received Chris Judd for pick 3 and again
effectively (there's that word again) have received pick 1 (ie Kreuzer) for Josh Kennedy and pick 20.

Ah, this was your original post. If you're going to make things up at least try and hide it with an edit.

I thought most people would have assumed when I said Kreuzer that I was referring to pick 1.
Obviously not.

I bolded the changed part of my original post.
Again I thought that was obvious.
