I think he spends all his tickets on one effort and has none for another. Agility doesn't seem the greatest either - can't seem to quickly turn and make ground on anyone.

Agreed...not fit enough right now to be a 2-way running mid and spends most of his energy on offensive bursts than defensive ones.

Yeah not the best change of direction agility defensively and right now his tackles get broken too easily, though this is more to do with only being a 2nd year player.

We were awful today. The Saints slightly better. It’s certainly frustrating to watch us struggle for three quarters and lose a winnable game.

The backline was solid and only conceded 68 points. Even if the Saints had reversed its score it would have been a reasonable effort.

By comparison the forward line was starved of opportunities today.

For me the struggle is between the arcs and the stoppages. Cripps battled, overdid things which reduced his influence. The kids are struggling and today it hurt us.

There’s nowhere to hide for anyone at the club. Unless we start winning the place will implode.

I know i'm repeating myself and apologies to anyone who've read all my posts but seriously...we go wide to the boundary in way too many of our F50 entries, putting very little pressure on the oppositions defence.

It's easy to spoil out of bounds from there and even if we get a kick at goal, it's a tough one which results in behinds more than goals anyway.

If there's no clear lead on I feel with our marking power up forward we really should be hitting the hotspot 20m directly in front of goal far more often than we should. I can see Charlie/McKay/McGovern either getting a mark, a free kick from panicked defenders, or at least cause a front and centre spillage for the likes of Cunners & Gibbons where with a big of luck it's an easy goal on offer...sometimes just a toe poke from the goal square.

We didn't do that nearly enough today.

Spot on. It frustrated me all day.

He didn't do anything. The structures were in place for the entirety of the game. Momentum changed with about 5 minutes to go in the first quarter when we should have been 3-4 goals ahead and every time we had an opportunity to grasp it back we undid our good work ourselves.

Arguably the biggest moment was Plowman's error at the stroke of half time which gifted them the lead and they carried the momentum into the start of the second half.

I agree, poor decision making and execution

Through gritted teeth.

I still love you Carlton.
However, you have really p1ssed me off today.
Go to the naughty chair and think about it.
No buts.
I'll let you know when you can get off it.

I love the Carlton jumper and Princes Park.
Everything else is ******

Rusty and average. Really didn't do enough of anything but wasn't bad enough that he's an easy out next week. Didn't butcher the ball (2 clangers out of 16 disposals) like many of his teammates but didn't really hurt the opposition with what he had.

I hope they give him another opportunity. He'll either hang himself or earn his selection.

We had a lot of poor midfielders today, but Dow was easily the worst. And for his own development i think he should be dropped to the 2's.
Bring Lang in.

Ok, I'm gonna cop it for this, but i just cannot see Weitering being anymore than a depth player for us. He needs to be traded whilst he still has some currency. When in front, he is a good reader of the play and intercept mark.
However, he is just so slow, gets caught behind 20m away from the play way too often. When he manages to stay with his man, he scraggles and holds on way too much and is penalised nearly every time. Casboult did better in one game than he has done all year.

You should cop it. Been one of our best this year.

You can see where it changed on the heat maps. Maybe the Saints forced the play out to our right wing but the first quarter was a different story.

We obviously became conservative and predictable.

Our game plan stinks. We have recruited big boys with great hands in our forward line (McKay, Curnow & McGovern) yet we move the ball so slowly which allows the opposition to get extras in defence and nullifies our big boys marking ability.
We just stop on the wing then kick backwards then try to switch to the other side and meanwhile all 18 opposition players flood back. Poor coaching!
I can't even work out what our game plan is
