I don't understand people blaming the umps. We got some soft ones, they got some soft ones. We won the free kick count. I just find it boring when people blame umpiring, every post match analysis by every club's supporters is riddled with umpire blaming.

We weren't as good in crucial situations at the end of the game, that's why we lost.

Hate reading umpire blaming. Every bloody week I read it. Drives me insane.

Please everyone be nice, I'm expecting Clayton Oliver to be on here a bit later to have a go at anyone calling him a flog - then promptly faint

He's a bit like that old poem:
There was a little girl,
And she had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead.
When she was good,
She was very, very good,
And when she was bad she was horrid.

We sacked you years ago, Pagan. Get off our board and move on.

Plowman seriously impressive game.

Weitering very poor. But at least this week he didn't do that thing where someone sneezes in his direction and he goes down like he's been shot, limps to the bench, gets a rub down, gets some strapping, and comes back 10 mins later at 100%.

You're probably right. I'm just don't want to get my hopes up too soon.
The way i look at it we only need onother 5 or so goals a game and our defence to get even better limiting opposition to around 10 a game .we have gone from around 7 goals a game last year and early this year and now we are up to around 12 a game..My observation for the night ..

The difference was 5 late goals at the end of the 2,3 and 4 quarters.

Not sure how Kerridge is getting blamed for the goal where Weitering gave a truely ridiculous free in a 1 on 3 marking contest.

The fact this loss hurts tells me we are on the right path. Go over to the Pies board a look at the kind of apathy we experienced 2 years ago.

Amazing when you come back from the game enraged at the umpiring and watch the replay and you see the umpires actually did a pretty reasonable job.

We do need to stop hand balling back into dangerous spots to opposition players rather than getting OOB or even giving up a free.

Charlie is now playing the footy I was expecting at the start of the year 10 weeks late to be the RS.

Macredie doesn't do much but gee everything he does is good. We need to get him more involved.

Loved Caz's marking. I don't want him to get 20 possessions just 10 marks.

After a blessed start to the year we are really starting to reck up some injuries.

So bloody frustrating, but then you have to look at the big picture. We run out that game with no injuries, Still had so many opportunities.

I ****ing Love Charlie.

Ok. Firstly, the next person that says White SHOULD EVER GET ANOTHER GAME please just support another club. You clearly have no clue. He is a CONSTANT liability and gives away a stupid 50 most games.

Kerridge could have had 50 touches and id still feel the same. He should not be in the side, he cost a minimum of 3 goals today with shit disposal.

Melbourne are an absolute hack dirty club and were literally gifted 5 goals off soft frees. The fact they even consider themselves a premiership hope is a complete joke.

Really?? Ummm, I thought football was a team game? Difficult to decompose that down to particular individuals without knowing what their roles were. Obviously, things like turn-overs and poor skill execution sits on the individual but It is difficult to comment on the effectiveness of a players without knowing what they were supposed to be doing.

Why wouldn't Melbourne consider themselves a premiership side. This competition has always been about giving yourself enough opportunities to win a flag that you should eventually win one. WB showed last year that for some teams, one finals finish is enough, for Geelong etc they needed to present year after year before finally winning. Put yourself in the first four positions on the ladder and you are a contender.

I've enjoyed watching Charlie's progress since round 1, massive improvement in performance. I think he and SOS could be a very dangerous combo in a couple years time.

Though on SOS, I cant really think of another player in the league that he plays like. Plays as an undersized KPF atm. I wouldnt be surprised to see him follow the path of a certain Essendon father-son (minus the PED's) who progressed to an inside mid. Anyone else see the similarities?

i think menzel was a little bit of that while he played for us.
like troy, SOJ seems to remind me of a old NM player, craig sholl for some reason. medium forward type, but a bit silkier than craig, and more of a pure forward rather than a utility.

kicks a couple of goals in play in this clip (4:30 and 6:30), but he kicked plenty on the lead

He's an elite mid that plays at HB
Sam Docherty's work rate is through the roof. I personally believe he is best suited at half back (I think his courage in the air suits hbf), but if we can get good hb replacements for Doc and Simmo then I agree. He is tough and courageous as they come, he's been excellent through the middle lately.

I'm a big fan of Fisher. His composure through traffic and his periphery vision is superb, he is so slick. His stats are low because he is stuck in a forward pocket most of the game (on top of being a first year player) but I am really confident on him. His possessions really count.
Yep, point of difference player and does the hard things well
