Hmmm. I hate midfield loopholes because that's where the most cover is required, but it's my only real option this week (D Barry). I can't use a forward (T Smith) because the doubt over Robbie's fitness leaves me needing cover (Guelfi), or a back (Austin) because the Saints play first. No ruck option either (I have the classic Gawndy Cameron combination, all of whom are playing).

My C (Titchy the Boring) and VC (Gawnius Maximus) play after my two selected bench mids (E Phillips and Ahern), so if I suffer a late out in the mids I'll get a donut, despite having 10 fit mids.

Alternatives are:

2. Don't loophole (yea nah!!!!)

3. Swap Ahern from mid bench to forward field, for the late playing McLean to mids. One of Cogsiello or McLean (probably McLean given he's playing WCE away) becomes an unselected bench mid, as cover should I have a late out anywhere in my mids. If there's no late out I'll get Ahern's score vs Collingwood, instead of McLean's vs WCE. If there is a late out I'd get both players' scores and no donut, whilst retaining the ability to loophole.

4. Friday night VC (Lord Dusty of Usedtobegood Nowlazy)

What do you good humans think?

Run the gauntlet with my strongest possible side and hope all my kids play, or go with one of options 2, 3 and 4?

All options other than 2 involve me leaving the E off Cameron, to retain the ability to whack a late E on a mid if there is a late out on that line.

My gut says option 3 is best because it gives me a loophole, good cover and only a marginally lower likely optimal score. BUT, if McLean pounds out a big fat Juan Fitty and Pappa Hern comes to a roaring halt somewhere in the forties, I'll have no choice but to give Queen Elizabeth a big punch in her bone dry, grey cloud covered, crinkle cut wonder cave, and I've got enough eczema on my knuckles as it is!

:spoutingwhale: What'll it be?

3 seems reasonable given Mclean recent scoring / being in wars and Eagles don't seem to give up massive mid scores, Ahern should do ok given it'll be a freewheeling encounter.
Always the risk it'll turn to shit, but the logic stacks up. Dusty vs Saints a lucky dip, still only just going really.
Good luck, whichever way you go.

Looks like Liam Ryan has been banished by West Coast never to be seen again, not even named on an extended bench.

Not that big a deal though if Gray plays as I will still have Ronke as back up on the bench.

Probably didn't do enough for a recall anyway. His WAFL stats from last weekend (10 goal win)

Interesting that Cole has been named on the extended bench this week (he's been named on-field on the HBF the past few weeks)

Would mean no D7 coverage for many, D6 doughie for others. Calamitous.

Old King Cole was a merry old troll
A merry old troll was he,
couldn’t get a touch, shat himself when he did
Now he might only be a loophole DEF E.

Cole might be in a bit of trouble this week. Barrass is back with them intercept skillz. Wouldn't be surprised if WCE go a bit taller in Def this week. Doggies have Schache, Boyd + Gowers and Dunkley who play tall named in the forwards.
