Being Queensland born and bred this will, unbelievably, be my first ever game at the MCG. Going down Friday.
Can. Not. Wait.
I'm exactly the same (even going down Friday), never been to Melbourne either.Being Queensland born and bred this will, unbelievably, be my first ever game at the MCG. Going down Friday.

Nor have I been to Melbourne (am I talking to my alias?), but you've well and truly out-footied me this weekend!I'm exactly the same (even going down Friday), never been to Melbourne either.
Going to Carlton v Geelong on the Friday night and will watch Fitzroy in the VAFA on Saturday. I'll decide which AFL game i go to on Sunday on the day and then leave Friday Night.
Also I actually whipped up the entire preview in about an hour
Meant to say leaving Sunday NightNor have I been to Melbourne (am I talking to my alias?), but you've well and truly out-footied me this weekend!
Good luck with arriving Friday and leaving Friday night though.
BRISBANE LIONS
INJURIES
Tom Cutler (groin) test
Patrick Wearden (quad) 1 week
Brent Moloney (Achilles) retired
Jack Redden (ankle) season
Daniel Rich (knee) season
Brent Staker (foot) season
Trent West (knee) season
Luke McGuane (knee) season
ON THE BLOCK: Coach Justin Leppitsch said his men were bullied against the Crows. So does ‘Leppa’ give those who copped the brunt of that bullying the axe or persist for another week? Youngster Jonathan Freeman and Michael Close were quiet while Justin Clarke was subbed out at half-time after having no influence.
ON THE CUSP: Matthew Leunberger played in the NEAFL again and was among the best in the Lions’ big win over Southport. Surely he earns a recall against Collingwood? Ryan Lester and James Polkinghorne both impressed — as did rookies Zac O’Brien and Nick Hayes.
BEN BROAD’S FORECAST: The Lions had been good for a month ... before Sunday’s disappointing rout at the hands of the Crows. Perhaps this long season is catching up with the young Lions? And the hard end to the season only gets harder over the final three weeks of the season, with closing matches against Collingwood, Fremantle and Geelong. Sit back and enjoy watching the kids develop, Lions fans.
COLLINGWOOD
INJURIES
Nathan Freeman (hamstring) 1-2 weeks
Dane Swan (foot) available
Nathan Brown (shoulder) season
Ben Hudson (shoulder) retired
Adam Oxley (ankle) season
Nick Maxwell (ankle) retired
Taylor Adams (finger) 4-6 weeks
Sam Dwyer (hamstring) test
ON THE BLOCK: Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has vowed to wield the axe at selection following his team’s humiliating loss to West Coast. Jesse White could be first in line, after he again had a limited impact, only booting one goal from eight touches and 11 hitouts. Sam Dwyer was subbed out against the Eagles with hamstring tightness and faces a test late in the week.
ON THE CUSP: Brownlow Medallist Dane Swan was very close to playing against the Eagles yet the club opted to err on the side of caution. However he is a strong chance to play in Round 21, along with fellow midfielder Luke Ball, who gathered 27 disposals in the VFL on the weekend. “(Swan) was very close last week but we felt he needed another week of training, he’s available,” football director Rodney Eade said. While White’s efforts were disappointing against West Coast, his potential replacement, Brodie Grundy, was named best afield in Collingwood’s VFL victory over Essendon. Grundy made the most of his opportunities up forward to boot three goals, while Patrick Karnezis was also among the Pies’ best, finishing with 28 disposals. Paul Seedsman, returning from a groin injury, got through the VFL clash unscathed. Tom Langdon travelled with the team to Perth on stand-by and is in the frame along with Kyle Martin, who sat out of the VFL with knee soreness.
BEN WATERWORTH’S FORECAST: After a big collective sigh of relief last weekend, Collingwood fans exhaled a collective sigh of frustration after their team was thumped by West Coast. Reports indicate it was a soul-searching Magpies post-match meeting, with Buckley revealing not a single player admitted they had brought the right attitude and effort to Subiaco Oval. For a team on the finals cusp, it was an inexcusable display. Luckily, the Pies have a very winnable game against Brisbane at the MCG on Saturday night. Not only must they win, they must win big, as their percentage took a hammering against the Eagles.

I'm still pretty new in here.... can you not change your name when you want to? wtf?Meant to say leaving Sunday Night
Also on another note it was disgraceful that grizzlym wouldn't let you change your name from that Judas when Hawks supporters got a free Buddy name change.
You've got to fork out the dollars. Unfortunately I invested all my money in purchasing enough jelly to fill my house. Not only does Chief not accept gelatin-based products as a method of payment, but it's kind of crystallised, so I'm floating here with only my laptop to keep me company, and couldn't get to my wallet if there were even anything in it.I'm still pretty new in here.... can you not change your name when you want to? wtf?

For the away game v GC earlier this year I was smart and sat on the Western Stand. It was a good timeslot for attending footy and not many of us made the trip down, signs that it isn't really a true rivalry.I have been wanting to do something similar to this for a few years, and also looked at this weekend as a good round to go. Sunday game would have to be North vs WB @ Etihad rather than Dees vs Giants? Isn't it funny that of all the away games it's Collingwood that many of us from Brisbane look at first. Sign of a true rivalry forged on the biggest stage.
I have only ever been to away games for AFL at the Gold Coast and it was a different experience, mainly enjoyable apart from this year where it was so hot in the stands, we copped a flogging and Rich did his ACL. I really enjoy live sport, especially seeing and experiencing the atmosphere at different grounds. I have been to the MCG for Test cricket a few times and Etihad for soccer and would love to go to these venues for AFL. Maybe next year.

Will be even more disgraceful when he boots a bag of 6 against his old side.
I jest, i jest. If he does come in, who will take him? Haven't seen much of him but from what I read he plays as a third tall/midfielder? Hanley possibly?
Spewing Redden is out for the year. One of my favorite players to watch - can play in the the thick of it whilst excelling at locking down a wing.
Good luck for Saturday night. Hopefully a good contest between two teams that are a shadow of their former selves.
Hanley is a pure mid for us at this stage and won't be on anybody. If he is minded by somebody is might be Bewick, but even then I'm not sure it would be a close mind - he will be busy with others. Will be even more disgraceful when he boots a bag of 6 against his old side.

My first trip to the MCG was an ODI in the 90s with my Grandad. Think it was against England. We were in Bay 13 and it was getting a bit crazy around where we were. Warnie ended up coming out to try to settle it down a bit.Nice work. I've only done cricket and the Commonwealth Games at the MCG. Footy would be something else.
I presume everyone has seen the glowing review of Leuie from last weeks reserves wrap adn also the 'berger takes big strides' article (link below).
presumably a strong chance to play - but equally Leppa could just give him another week in the ressies to be sure.

I am not sure about bringing Leuenberger back into the team - I am worried that Leppa will continue his obsession with fielding a tall decide despite our lack of run against the Crows.
Freeman will surely go back to the reserves after getting an initial taste, but we were too tall anyway after he came in for McGrath. Assuming Clarke is OK to play (and we don't need Merrett down back) then the obvious candidate to come out would be Merrett on form - in fact perhaps we should put him on ice for the rest of year like some of the others (if he is carrying something / needs any surgery).
I think Lester should definitely come in for Robertson and I would be leaning towards including Beams for Paparone as well. But they would take the selection committee to acknowledge that they got it wrong last week, so I am not that confident it will happen.
