How good was that hit that Big Levi took in the last quarter that led to Zac Fisher’s snapped goal. Team first. Well done Levi.

Liked Levi today. He’s no star but plays a role. Did some good stuff. Hope we persist with Levi/McKay/McGovern as I think it can work well. Charlie can go around middle where his size and endurance would really help us and Cripps

The hopefully at some stage TDK will replace Casboult

How about the litany of mistakes we made today. I could make a list, but I want to go to bed at some stage tonight.
I agree. I have stated that umpiring incompetence is no reason for us to play poorly. In fact I dont really blame the umpires I have always maintained its an almost impossible game to officiate and the more made up on the fly rules and interpretations they bring in the harder it gets.

I see Brisbane are taking it up to Port and could very well be 3-0.

Don’t care if they started a rebuild a year ahead of us it’s unacceptable how far ahead of us they are. Something stinks - we literally cannot win. Our players can’t handle the heat of taking a lead and keeping it. We are mentally ******.
some of our so-called supporters are........

Pathetic comment. Shows you've got nothing but hate
Interested in your thoughts on your nephew's game?

Thought he had a bit of a shocker for most of it(not alone there) but started to turn it around 2nd half. Think he is better when plays on instinct and when he doesn't have time to think, just react and hit up a target.

What are they telling him his role is and do you think he'll get a few games or go back to vfl?

He contested well today. Took a number of marks. And like McKay copped a lot of attention from the Sydney defence. Not all of it legal IMO.

reckon it's a bit unfair to ask soap that........

The reason we lost today was all at the drop of the ball. Sydney crumbed in defense and attack all day.

Gibbons, Polson both need a spell. We have to bite the bullet and send Fisher foward for the rest of the year. We just don’t have anyone else.

For a 5 min spell in the last we started playing on and getting some movement
and things looked promising but the rest of the day we are stagnant. Bolton has to get them to take it on more or we will lose by 20 points all year.

When you are such a young and inexperienced side injuries effect you more than most. Our ability to have Docherty Cuningham Charlie Lang Williamson McGovern Kennedy Jack Kruezer all fit and allow the younger players to play more around the fringes and also get rests and some VFL time is massive for development. In a lot of ways we are carrying 5-6 Under 18's each week and that makes it very hard
Can't agree entirely. Sydney had Haywood out early and are an ageing team. We decided to bring in Marchbank who hasn't played a game since last year. Kennedy and Jsos were available for selection yet we decided to bring in O'Brien and Marchbank?? Dow is clearly not fit and shouldn't be exposed like he is while Ed and Murphy are in our forward line. We can't and shouldn't always look to justify average performances. Our game plan is horrible. Our defensive structure is ordinary despite having an experienced defense. Opposition always find loose players. Very frustrating.

O,Brien will be a jet, just needs time. Polson will be a bit player and will always struggle with that sort of delivery into the forward half
I'd like to see Polson spend a bit of time up the ground. All of his junior footy he played as a mid.

Poor day. Bit disappointed he was picked as I thought he needed more time. Apparently we didn’t have many options because of injury/rehab etc

Was building nicely but wasn’t ready. Doesn’t excuse the game he played though. Needs to learn and improve and he will

IMO needs to go back and build and get confidence then he will show what he can do

JMO

Another disappointing result, a game which we could have won if not for the multitude of errors around the ground.
The inability of our players to convert straightforward set shots or hit targets continues to be a major issue. I think a North Korean missile is more likely to hit its target than many of our players by foot.

Kennedy & Jack weren’t available

He just needs games. Will get better each one. Gotta look for the signs each week like the gather and sidestep and shot at goal. Just shows class at times

Spot on. He just needs games of footy under his belt. He'll get better as the season gets longer.

Hello, SOM WIN WON.

Or Win ONE SOON.

2 years and look at their body sizes. Won 5 games the last two years. Starting to click now

athlete defender on the most athletic forward. the most pleasing thing is that Jones has been able to resume his 2017 defensive form due to the defensive structure around him. imagine how well our defense would be with Doc in there
Jones was fantastic today. Athletic with a touch of controlled aggression.

He’s back to his 2017 form and more I reckon

That midfield is way to young, things improved when Ed spent more time there (coaching move). Our disposal across the park was poor, even from mature players

It really makes you think, doesn't it? Poor disposal even by players we know are pretty safe with it most of the time.

It couldn't be the gameplan, could it? Surely not?

The plan to beat Carlton is straight forward and after quarter time the Swans made the adjustments to do it. A better team would have piled on the scores given how dominant they were.

When Carlton has the ball you pressure the ball user and lock up the marking option 30 to 50 meters away who will 9/10 be presenting along the boundary. Unless you screw up or Carlton get the 50/50 ball the chances of a Carlton score are low to medium at best. The Blues F50 entries are predictable because we still lack a small forward with goal sense and x factor.

When you have the ball understand that the aim of the game is keepings off. Carlton will play a zone. The only pressuring player will be if there's a missed kick otherwise they'll be in their zone. Chip it around, to the open men, or spread it quickly avoiding the zone and aim for it to get to F50 eventually. Some teams will be faster than others. Once it gets there smart forward play or force 50/50 contests and you'll stand a good chance of scoring.

A Carlton win hinges on all 5 or 6 defenders doing their job perfectly. An opposition win is determined on patience and professional level disposal efficiency and with that zone gives you higher than normal DE%.

Impossible to play perfectly for an entire four quarters and when we do drop our heads or tire most opposition teams are good enough to put points up quickly.

It's the same issues every week. Rinse and repeat regardless of how good the players are. The majority of our games play out the same way. It's gotten to the point that watching a typical Carlton game is like watching a replay.

Kudos to the likes of Jones and Cripps whose mostly consistently good performances come in vain.
