The week before Gary arrived, Romsey were beaten by 91 points (or there abouts) instead of the board sitting on their hands, the club had the guts to put up money to improve the side to what it is today, Yes Garry came for money, just like every other recruit who is worth money, and that is how it is, I'm not a Romsey person but can tell you that's footy now and for the future, i could go to just about any club and wave the green and they will follow. Good luck Romsey and if the players have medals around their necks after the game don't forget who had the balls to spend the green! How many did Riddle lose this year, and did they leave for love?

Not all players worth a bit of $$$ play just to get it. I can tell you about a few quality players who get offers from numerous clubs every year and turn them down. Even lesser players at their own clubs are getting paid more than they are cause it's not about the $ for them. You can wave all the green you want at these blokes but it wont get you anywhere.

What happened to the days when you played for your mates, your coach who you respected, for the love of the game and for the jumper no matter how good or bad your team was.

Unfortunately, blokes like this are few and far between these days as it gets less about pride and glory and more and more about the all mighty dollar.

Garry may have come for the $ but at least he earns it. He has a red hot go unlike some blokes who demand the cash and rock up to games just to get paid.

Romsey did have the balls to spend the green and good on em. Gotta spend $ to make $ these days.

Good luck to both sides for the granny should be a cracker.

Yes i see both your points, but does it bring longevity of clubs these days as clubs like Lancefeild,Macedon and even Riddell have gone into recess over the years.I know this as i was at one these clubs and we did not make a grandfinal !!! Now it seems that Riddell have curb there spending and will my old club learn from its mistakes in the past !!! No because there is no-one there that wore the port colours to tell them otherwise, not even a change of jumper will take them to a premiership. What im trying to say is i hope Romsey don't fall into the same trap as Macedon did

:confused::confused:

Moorcroft has done wonders for Romsey, its good to have a player of his calibre in the league and it will allow other players of his talent to follow suit, and come to the RDFL thus making the league stronger and more attractive to very good footballers... Cant wait for the weekends games... Tips?

Half Time Entertainment

All umpires that are not officiating in any games will be pulling on jumpers as they take on a little league like match. 5 Minutes each end.
All clubs that were unable to participate in finals action will be supplying one player each to umpire the game.

Should be interesting

With the RDFL Grandfinal a couple of days away ,Gary Moorcroft has had discussions with three BenFL clubs and with Kyneton to be the frontrunner at the moment.Has the Redbacks spent their money well because they are in a granny or has Gary fleeced the club with having no intention of staying on next year :(SHOW ME THE MONEY:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

your funny hahahahahhahahahh

I'm tipping Lancefield in what should be a great grand final. Would only be a fitting end to this season if it was a heart stopper. Predicting thunderstorms for the afternoon as well.....lets hope that stays away.

Yes i might be funny but Gary was only intrested in paying off his third house when he played us last tiime. So has he stayed til last drinks at the club NO,has he put money on the bar and said here you go lads, the drinks are me NO.Romsey can only sell so many photos of his mark of the year

Dont pass yourself off as a macedon boy donegal, you have been around at alot of clubs over the years and been at woodend for while now and not that well liked down there either from what im led to believe. stop slinging mud at macedon, romsey and moorcroft. he is a gun and worth every cent IF they win a flag.

Have you read nothing of what everyone else has written. Even if he has not bought any beers himself (Im sure he has by the way) he has certainly bought crowds in who most certainlyh have bought plenty of beers. I am one who has payed to watch him play with th redbacks

Couldn't agree with you more! Get off his back. Romsey had the balls to go out and get him and I bet whatever he cost them they are making up on the gate receipts and alcohol they are selling at the ground. By having the quality players in the league it only strengthens it in the long run. Word circulates and players will want to play there in order to play some quality footy!
Good luck to all sides in the GF on the weekend!

Gee's you will be realy crook on Moorcroft next year. Couple of his Ex Bomber teamates( may) be along side him at the Redbacks. Keep your eye out for the velvet sledge hammer at Lancefield on Sunday.

Injured blokes trained ok last night Im told, Moorcroft looked ok, Lukey Carroll no drama's whilst Green left the track and had a jab to the ankle. Lets hope they all play which will ensure a cracker of a game and more importantly no excuses!!!

Buffalo Sports Under 18 Grand Final - Woodend/Hesket Vs Kilmore

In the battle of the best 2 sides of the competition, this Sunday we get to see Woodend/Hesket take on Kilmore in the Grand Final.
The Hawks demolished a sometimes insipid Kilmore in the Qualifying Final 2 weeks ago but I dont think anyone should expect the same this week. In the following 2 weeks Kilmore have demolished Macedon FC and Diggers Rest to reach the Grand Final and will be hoping to give the Hawks more than they can handle. The open wide spaces at Lancefield should work in the advantage of a running Kilmore side that play their best football when the game is free flowing and open. The Hawks will again need to shut the game down into stoppages where they are most dangerous. The Hawks will look to take Kilmore out of the game early, the Blues are a very good side when they are up and running and things are going their way. Can the Blues shut down a Hawks forward line that tore them apart only 2 weeks ago, their best bet is to ensure that the supply forward is limited, most teams would struggle to contain some of the Hawks forwards. Harrison Huntley didn't play in the 2nd Semi but kicked 6 in the qualifying final. Ric Cerminara has been very good this year, he will sneak out the back of a stoppage that the Hawks are very good at winning and his teammates are more than willing to oblige in supplying the ball. For Kilmore, Codey Phillips and Matthew Swindles are going to be the keys, both are exciting young talents and if they are switched on and up and running, look out to any side that wants to shut them down. Phillips especially showed last week what he is capable of.

Key Players
Kilmore - Phillips, Swindles, Jennings, Rowe.
Woodend/Hesket - Huntley, Toman, Cerminara, Backhouse.

Tip
Woodend/Hesket by 19 points.

Mooney Valley Racing Club Grand Final - Melton Centrals Vs Wallan

These 2 sides met 2 weeks ago in the Semi Finals and produced a cracking contest and this week promises to be no different.
Centrals have hit form at the critical time of the year. They were able to win key games against Kilmore which gave them a shot at Wallan and a chance to go straight through with a week off. Matt "Rock" Martin was important in the Semi along with Glenn Sproule who got his hands on plenty of the ball in the critical final minutes. With the dual goal kicking power of Rick Scott and Clint Mullins up forward Centrals have the players to kick a winning score.
Wallan were superb last week with Brenton Hanson in great form across the half forward line while Dale Keenan dominated up forward. I mentioned last week that Wallan needed more from these two if they were going to be able to get on top of the Cats and they delivered, but they need to go again this week to back it up. Jamie Mastaeller was serviceable last week but the Magpies would love another bag in the big one.
The Magpies need to open this game up as much as they can, with Centrals bigger bodies and ball use around the ground, if they are able to control the tempo of the game then Wallan will find the going tough, if the game is fast paced and open, then the Magpies have the running types to bust the game apart. A perfect curtain raiser to the big one.

Key Players:
Melton Centrals - Mullins, Scott, Martin.
Wallan - D.Keenan, Hanson, Mastaeller

Tip

Wallan by 8 points.

Melton Toyota Cup Grand Final - Romsey Vs Lancefield

As usual, the game doesn't get any bigger than this. But when you throw in a rivalry like the one between Romsey and Lancefield, well, it doesn't get any bigger..

I have had several discussions around this game over the past week and I can only come to one conclusion.... This is as exciting a GF as we have had in many years, whether we like it or not, Riddell has held a monopoly over a Grand Final spot for nigh on 6 years. This year its something different and it is two sides that hate each other..

What do we as fans want out of this game... Well, I think its quite simple..

FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS...

I'm not talking all in brawls and spot fire punch ons, I am talking no holding back, no care for your own health attack on the football.. I am talking about Myles Dorman and Cam Dawson putting on a show, the freakish goals, the big grabs (you dont need your shoulder to jump Gary), Connellan Vs Waters in the ruck and around the ground.. Which one of these two will make this "MY" grand final, they are both capable.

This should be a ripping contest, forget the "oh, Romsey paid Gary money" rubbish, who cares.. Good on em, they are in the Grand Final, I have heard the "Riddell are gonna go broke because they bought the flag" rubbish for 6 years, 6 years, they have continually been a powerhouse because they made the right moves, premierships bring money and Romsey are right there with a chance to win it..

So it's the volatile, angry, aggressive and completely combustable Romsey up against the smooth, fast, outside and completely disciplined Lancefield. Will the Redbacks lose thier minds, will the Tigers be scared of what might happen... No and No.. This is Grand Final day, throw everything you know about these sides out the window, anything is possible on this great day..

Both sides can run, both sides can win contested stoppage football, both sides enjoy the highlight reel. I cant wait :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Good luck to all players on both sides and just put on a spectacle for the fans that we all know that both sides are capable of...

FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS, FIREWORKS!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Romsey by 22 points

Could be a few fireworks in the crowd also if the banter between the Lancefield and Romsey people here at work is anything to go by - plenty of feeling in this one and plenty of bandwagon jumping going on too :D

Im hoping it's Kilmore in the 3's & Wallan in the 2's :thumbsu: Also can anyone shed light on the investigation into the young Kilmore 2nd player that got cleaned up in the first week of the finals - was the tribunal hearing held this week????
