It's funny how everytime a big change comes into your life you start to question the decision, coz you were so comfortable before in your routine and you wonder if it was worth it. Then time rolls on and you feel guilty for ever questioning it in the first place. I feel like I'm at that point now.
I've seen a lot on this hellsite, but something approaching profoundness in the RDT is a first

But what's Warne done besides bang around a bit? It's sh*t for his Mrs - which if he didn't want to commit then he should've never got married - but what's he done that is so evil in your eyes?

For the record I don't like cheaters, I don't think you should get married if you can't stay committed - but in the scheme of things it's not something I would get hugely judgemental on beyond my own relationship.
Party drugs and all that aren’t for me but he’s hardly an orphan there. Not sure I understand why some people get slammed for them and others it adds to their allure but that’s not really the issue in this instance.

Is he not a very prominent groomer of, let’s say, younger women on social media? And did he not have a few assault charges in his day? On top of any minor, in the scheme of things, sporting indiscretions with bookies and banned substances?

Oh well okay... the latter I'm not well aware of to be honest in terms of grooming and minors as such.

Any evidence of these party drugs?? He was apparently very against such things… a smoke and midori apparently were his thing.

I’m not taking pot shots at him, he was who he was yesterday, and the day before that, and today. I’m not happy he’s dead, I’m not happy people are sad about it, I’m sorry for his friends and family.

I just find it gross that someone can be objectively a pretty bad bloke but get the send off of all send offs and a national day of mourning because he was good at doing a thing with a ball. It’s not unique to Shane Warne but he’s just todays example.

You can’t turn the TV on without seeing some athlete somewhere bashing someone, or groping someone, or much worse, but the day they die we have to go yeah look he was a bit of larrikin but couldn’t he make it spin though? Jordan De Goey is a howler of a human being but every time he kicks a goal he’s a superstar and that’s all that matters.

Athletes don’t need to be our moral compasses or saints or anything, but when gross behaviour gets waved away purely because of what you do for a living, I find that very uncomfortable. If a ‘normal’ person, or a celebrity you don’t like, or politician on the wrong side of the aisle, did the stuff Shane Warne does they’d be rightfully called a scumbag, but take some wickets and it’s just classic Aussie larrikinism at its finest.

I just don’t understand it.
Felt like a pot shot.
I don't think anyone's posting stuff anywhere on the assumption that Warne was a saint, there's no harm in talking about how good a cricketer he was though. And he was ****ing good.
It's the cricket equivalent of Michael Jordan dying

Anton_Chigurh's post really hit home about some decisions I'm facing at the moment. Kinda humourous that he was talking about a dog.

When you think about it, this actually happened with Kobe

This sort of grooming? (Last photo) There's a difference between women of the world being attracted to a dart punching, beer swilling, Dad bod repping ex-cricketer and him trawling social media for a root.

I've never heard anything along the lines of Warne being a predator, despite his other well known faults.

Love him or hate him I think we have to accept he was a ladies man and there was a queue of women, young and old, waiting to be in his presence.

Yeah Badge I'd like to see your evidence of so called grooming. You know grooming is a term used specifically for paedophiles even if it can be interpreted otherwise, that is the connotation.
You have hit a new low on this one, I've lost a bit of respect for you here.

You could barely go a week without some viral post on a LadBible equivalent page, hey check out classic Aussie legend Shane Warne sliding in the DMs again.

Anyway, I’ve said my piece. If some celebrity who votes differently to you behaved like he did, there’d be people on this forum getting their jokes off and being indignant that they were getting a hero’s send off too.

If you’re good enough at doing a thing with a ball, you can do whatever you want. Dusty will get the same, the day he dies he’ll be a champion of the game who was just a misunderstood enthusiast of far eastern cuisine and loved to have a good time.

I don’t hate Shane Warne, I don’t think about Shane Warne, I’m not happy he’s gone, I’m not happy if his passing has made anyone sad. I’m a sports tragic in every way, so I get idolising athletes, but the hand waving and folding in of bullshit behaviour as somehow part of someone’s aura is weird to me, regardless of what they do to earn a crust.

I don't think there's any handwaving going on though, especially not here on this board.
Most people are just shocked that probably the best bowler to play the game is dead at 52, no one's denying his indiscretions and there's room to talk about them but probably not the day after his death.
I just think you've gone way too hard on this one.

A bit of beef for dinner at least. Should soothe the irritation of us not being very good at footy for tonight at least.
