Good on you for not going to the concert, Thorne. I bought my wife two tickets and then had Ticketmaster threaten me for 12 months that as I booked them in my name I had to attend.

Sent her to the concert with printed emails, my DL, her DL, and marriage certificate only for her to report back that she walked in, scanned ticket and carried on her merry way without anyone checking booking name versus ID name.

Supposedly it was a big Sheeran pushed anti-scalping effort, and whilst I never figured they'd be checking 70,000 guest tickets against IDs, it's not worth the risk not to have the relevant info in case you cop a shitty gate worker.

Smart to book them in your own name thereby ensuring nobody else would be subjected to an Ed Sheeran gig. ****ing hell, I’m not pretending it’s some fresh take but what are we doing here when this is the biggest musical artist on earth.

Oh contraire, book 'em in your name and you're basically forced to go, which means you have to listen to Ed Sheeran. I bought two tickets on early pre-sale as a surprise for my wife, for reasons I won't get into. But I was almost forced to go myself as reward for the gesture 🤮

What’s his appeal? He seems to be a good performer and his songs are pleasant enough (though a bit same same as far as I can tell).

I must be missing something.

Yeah I don’t get it either

Nothing against him as he seems a nice enough fellow and whilst his songs aren’t my taste they’re not terrible. Just inoffensive stuff you could sing around a campfire

How it translates to dragging 70k to watch him is a mystery- it’s not some big extravagant rock show

Good luck to him I suppose

Yeah this is it.

They’re almost impressive in how bland and interchangeable they are, but much worse people have made much worse music and had a great deal of success. Seems a decent enough bloke, certainly hasn’t gone off the deep end like lots of the absolute mega celebrities seem to be.

How it’s elevated to the level of ’potentially the most famous musician on earth’, I just can’t wrap my head around.

Because being so bland and inoffensive = lots of teenage girls allowed to go to the shows.

He has conned a lot of people. I’ve seen buskers with more talent and charisma than he has in the hay st mall….. ( granted it’s been a long time since I’ve been down the hay st mall so may now not still be a good example)
