Farren Ray must be picked up!!!
Finals next year guys we need more experience
not saying he will start every game but some of the youngguns will struggle and Ray brings that elite outside game
goals from the midfield cant be underrated
how do i change club names?
He probably could and should play on but very unlikely it'll be at Geelong.
May as well have kept Kelly if we're going to get Ray. Would play a similar role and even with Kelly's decline still a much better player.
I'm not against getting a player that's a bit older but only for a specific role. Such as a mature ruckman or small defender.

'Finals next year guys' - are you talking about Geelong or GWS as per your profile, being the team you apparently support?

Whoever wrote that Age article knew what they were talking about in regard to not naming Geelong as the potential destination for any of recycled players. None of the names listed there get me excited. Our criteria is (or should be): aged 25 or less, good character, no significant injury concerns, significant upside. I don't think any of the delisted players satisfy all of these criteria. I suspect the only reason people are suggesting them is because they are familiar with the names.

I'd much rather Wells and co choose a player that we've never heard of but in who they see significant improvement / potential. Then put them in our system and see how they turn out in a few years. We have ample depth so can afford to go with project players.

A clue. You need a sense of humour to appreciate understand and appreciate irony. So that can't be the explanation. You are consistent with your anti Scott push, I' ll give you and love child "bobby" that.

Except that within this alleged 'push', I actually haven't advocated once that he should sacked. I've also freely said many times that he and the club do most things very well. Plus I think he will see out his present contract at the very least.

If that is interpreted by some as an 'anti-Scott push', those posters must be even bigger morons than I'd allowed for.

Stanley is a hard at it midfielder with questionable disposal. Hard at it, no speed and apart From a solid 2013 in attack Has shown absolutely no versatility to his game. Has been used as a forward tagger. I grew up with Danny so have kept tabs on his footy at Collingwood then Gold Coast. Seemed very unlucky to be delisted but in saying that would want him nowhere near our list. Upside none, very limited versatility, lacks any real agility, 27 going on 28. Would not touch.

That article showcases the complete lack of a ****ing clue that afl.com.au journos have.
Geelong are not mentioned once, in connection with any player on that list.

Should someone send them a memo to take a look at our list head-count and draft picks?

Maybe the players available just don't suit our needs

Perhaps, and I wouldn't be surprised if Wells had none of those on his list, but the journos would surely link us with a few if they properly realized our situation.
A lot of those names are being thrown around in this thread, for instance.

It's a good list in the article but I wouldn't read into who they think where that player fits best.
Clueless opinions. They've listed Carlton for nearly all of them.

Like you mentioned we need to fill a decent number of spots and I wouldn't be surprised seeing them coming to our club.

If we didn't have so many talls Majak Daw would definitely have been worth a punt. Then again i'd still take him, the way he played in that final round was terrific and was actually stiff getting dropped for the finals.
Would fit in well at St.Kilda

Matty Wright from Adelaide, I like him, are we any chance of picking him up please?
