Eh, not a great look but two young men playing a TikTok game that no one has really thought through the implications of is a stretch for a scandal. Collingwood can do worse if they put their minds to it.

I reckon DeGoey could end up at either Sydney or Brisbane.. Getting him out of the Melbourne media bubble could be their pitch.

If I was Collingwood I would explore the possibilities of a McStay - JDG swap.

That said I think it would be hard for any of the four northern teams to be able to afford JDG as they each have their salary cap challenges going forward.

Sydney may have some room, but the mail is, that they will be keeping all the coin they can muster, for a pitch at Dusty.

Choices have consequences and JDG is about to find out just have significant some of those consequences can be.

Guy is a loose cannon, that rather than “growing up” as he gets older, seems to become more unhinged as each year rolls on.

No question when he is on song he is one of the most exciting and dynamic players in the competition, however the side show that he comes with, must now start becoming a major pain in the arse for the powers to be at Collingwood.

I would suggest we all be ready to, “watch this space”, with what’s the next instalment of his AFL journey.

Lol. That's two Fox Footy journos now who have tweeted that De Goey has been suspended for the rest of the season - he hasn't. He's been fined $25k and the fine has been suspended.

What's the fine for? Going to Bali? Or posting his comments in public about the media?

Did his teammates who also travelled to Bali get a fine?
You can argue it's minor but De Goey doesn't exactly have a great history here
Collingwood CEO Mark Anderson said the Club is extremely disappointed in Jordan’s behaviour which demonstrated disrespect towards women.

“Our club’s very strong position is that disrespect towards women, in any form, is never acceptable and we strongly condemn it,” Mr Anderson said.

“Jordan’s actions shown in the vision shared on social media are actions we do not accept as a football club, and we are extremely disappointed to see him put himself in this position.

Shocked to be sitting here

Jordan De Goey has accepted responsibility and has apologised for his actions and the impact they have on the community.

....

“Late last year, I was diagnosed with ADHD and I am trying to become more aware of why I make mistakes that I do. I have again made a mistake – this is an ongoing journey for me – and I remain absolutely committed to changing.

The actual incident was meh and don't get me started on the going to Bali part, why is that different to the Gold Coast?

This is just his past mistakes catching up with him and damage control by Collingwood. The media reporting has been hysterical.

Jordan De Goey just released a statement on the whole saga.

"Reason for my behavior in Bali was due to Doctor's orders. My club has been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed as suffering from a work related injury and as a result I have been fined until further notice. I will not go into details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private (hint ADHD). I'am doing my best to work with the club and my psychiatrists so I can pay my fine. I intend to pay off the fine as soon as I'm fit and able."

I can buy Bailey Smith going off the rails. He took time away from the club and footy (all noted at the time) and using drugs and alcohol to cover up his feelings of depression and the like, particularly at his age.

De Goey pulling the ADHD line out is like it's something ****ing new at 26 and this is his first time being caught doing something stupid. I don't even think he has done anything wrong and shouldn't be punished by the club for what is in essence time off for whatever he wants to do. But after many incidents and at his age in a contract year after the off season he had he really should have known better because all doing what he did was going to create a media shitshow.

It's either ****ing smart of collingwood to let it happen and save themselves some money / maximise their compensation if he leaves or it's a complete shit show as they knew one more media incident and it's basically untenable.

Either way his player manager should have expressed in no uncertain terms that 100% dedication to footy and no incidents this year was required or he would potentially cost himself millions and even his career. If he did that and De Goey still decided to travel and party up mid season then he really is just a ****ing idiot.

Oh and i'm not some hypocrite here either as i've done plenty of stupid things in my time. But **** me even at business events and parties with people of a similar age and similar money (some a lot more, some about the same, some a fair bit less but more than the median AFL wage) these events are all private and if there are actual big names there and you're going to a 4 storey penthouse party it's a phone at the door system with the knowledge of everyone that you **** up just once and your career is over. Maybe it has to do with base level intelligence but some of these parties are like movies or californication episodes and before leaving the industry I never knew of someone who truly ****ed it up.

I suspect he knew what was coming and pre-empted an excuse

Personally I didnt give that much of a shit about what he did in Bali - from the video it seems like everyone is having a good time and is consenting to whats going on (on the surface, at least).

But using ADHD as an excuse to try and justify touching women up is fckn disgusting. THAT's what deserves to be punished.

Rhino sums it up perfectly once again

Is it disrespectful if the person them-self didn't find it so?

Seems it's just a lot of people offended on behalf other someone who wasn't, for some reason.

JDG didn't do himself any favours being recorded but it's not any worse that plenty of people get up to every weekend.

Not sure I subscribe to footy players being saints, as they're attempting to make them over the past decade or so, especially when the hand-wringers would have plenty of skeletons in their own closets.

Not remotely in the same league as something like what Tom Morris did, for instance, but it's getting a similar beat-up.

Rhino has a response for that too
