Rhino has a response for that too

Not everything's as black and white though.

Let me try one with religion:

No wearing Burkas in petrol stations for the same reasons helmets aren't to be worn.

You just know this will end up with people grandiosely claiming that if you condone this it means you hate all Muslims.

Ryan's just dealing in absolutes here and it's poor on his behalf.

When it's posted on line and you have his history I think it is.
To whom?

Groping someone in a nightclub and getting arrested, as well as lying to your club about why you broke your hand. Those things are disrespectful.

I'd say it's more disrespectful for someone to post it online, if it wasn't him.

To anyone he's apologised to privately or to when he's read the apology the club's written for him after his other 75 indiscretions, especially the one's involving acting inappropriately towards women.

If you see someone filming you on their phone in a nightclub, I don't think you can blame someone else for what you then choose to do ending up on line

Really?

Young bloke goes to Bali, parties in a nightclub. Pretty standard stuff. Wasn't caught passed out intoxicated, wasn't caught doing drugs.

Speculation over whether that actually was him that pulled the girl's top. Heard the hand didn't have matching tattoos but I haven't bothered to check it myself.

Is he not allowed to go to a nightclub/party for the rest of his career?

Problem is him being seen partying is always going to be associated with him being dodgy toward women. And so the club doing nothing gives the message to impressionable people that it is OK to be dodgy toward women in clubs. Whether or not he actually did anything dodgy. It’s a public perception now.

Issue is the public perception grows exponentially every time a new incident occurs, which it has here. Again, whether or not anything dodgy was actually done.

So then it comes down to weighing up the overall net benefit of restricting one person’s ability to party on camera vs a big sports club apparently condoning dodgy behaviour toward women.

Agree it shouldn’t be black and white but it becomes more so when it’s a repeat incident

lol. "Collingwood are not punishing him"

I reckon his contract will be a couple hundred K lighter. Possibly by design.

The issue isn't he was in a nightclub, this issue is he was filmed pulling at a woman's top and making a sexual gesture at a camera, a few months after being locked up the last time he went overseas.

I mean what sort of ridiculously run football club would punish players for literally just being at a night club.

Is it disrespectful if the person them-self didn't find it so?

Seems it's just a lot of people offended on behalf other someone who wasn't, for some reason.

JDG didn't do himself any favours being recorded but it's not any worse that plenty of people get up to every weekend.

Not sure I subscribe to footy players being saints, as they're attempting to make them over the past decade or so, especially when the hand-wringers would have plenty of skeletons in their own closets.

Not remotely in the same league as something like what Tom Morris did, for instance, but it's getting a similar beat-up.
You don't have to scratch the surface of the internet too deep to find instances of women being treated in a way most people would find offensive with the apparent consent of the women involved.
Not sure the fact she wasn't offended is relevant.

I don't think it's a big deal myself just disagreeing with how you deem something is offensive.

Plenty of people could've chosen not to watch said video and not gotten offended, no?

If the girl herself was offended, fair play.
She said she wasn't, so move on.

The fact she wasn't is entirely relevant. Why do random people on the internet hold more sway over someone who was directly involved in an 'incident'?

Oh I know, because people can't help but click on the article, thus feeding the media-machine even more profits.

People can choose to get offended, it's meaningless. No one cares really. If it doesn't affect you then why bother? Nothing changes if you're offended.

She wasn't and it's just pure shit clickbait media.

Unfortunately we live in a cancel culture society and De Goey has had enough chances that whether he likes it or not he has a huge target on his back.

I have no issue with this incident at all but it's definitely going to cost him. May even hurt Collingwood. With all the other shit that has gone down at the club eventually they will just have to move him on.

So could be Beams, Treloar, Stephenson and De Goey. 6 first round picks for very little in return. Thank **** they have Daicos and a few other good young players because otherwise they'd be in a mountain of trouble.

I reckon from the Pies perspective the concerning issue for them would be they've got a guy who has the talent to be great but is content to just be good.

It's a pretty nothing incident this one but it's just indicative of the above.

Doesn't mean you can't win flags whilst a player with this level of off-field baggage is on your list - Cousins, Swan and Martin say hi - but in an ultra competitive environment it's the sort of things clubs would just rather not have to deal with.

There's also an argument that certain personality types need to let off some steam. This might prevent them from becoming great footballers but it's better than trying to mould them into an ultra professional like Pendlebury only to see them retire at 25 through burnout.

Whats or the cute little emojis mean , missed that too. But hey , you do you or someone else.

Another good nickname for the Purple friends up the road too

Jordan De Goey just released a statement on the whole saga.

"Reason for my behavior in Bali was due to Doctor's orders. My club has been provided with a medical certificate. I have been diagnosed as suffering from a work related injury and as a result I have been fined until further notice. I will not go into details as to my medical condition as I wish to keep that strictly private (hint ADHD). I'am doing my best to work with the club and my psychiatrists so I can pay my fine. I intend to pay off the fine as soon as I'm fit and able."

JDG
Really? I have the real statement here

Reason for my behavior in Bali was due to Doctor's orders. However, (and I want to be clear here) don't let this distract you from the fact that in 1998, The Undertaker threw Mankind off Hell In A Cell, and plummeted 16 ft through an announcer's table.
