You can guarantee without a shadow of a doubt if that had been an Eagle players, they would not be playing this week.

Lynch has been a playing a dirty brand of footy, but he hasn't injured anyone.

Essendon's medical report said Hurley didn't receive any treatment.

You're being one eyed about this and needlessly parochial.
If it’s a one off like Yeos or Govs then sure. Lynch has done it 4 weeks on the trot and will likely do it again. Only a matter of time before he clocks someone in the jaw. Why do we have to wait until then to try and stop him doing it?

TBF, he's doing niggly shit.
You cant really legislate for something he might do in the future.

The financial toll of the pandemic and impacts of the new soft are starting to come to light.

All but confirmed that the Beagles won't go ahead next year. West Coast probably not looking at an alignment and will instead disperse player through the WAFl, or amazingly, may continue with the scrimmages.

QLD/NSW clubs to join the VFL, not sure what the format will be, the 4 clubs might pool their players for one team, or may have alignments etc.

Richmond have pulled out of the VFLW citing the revenue downturn from the pandemic and wanting to direct resources to AFLW program.

Really worried about talent/development pathways drying up. The game will be the Austerity Football League for the next 5 years.

Interesting little side story here is there's a big pony race on consecutive weekends, meaning the AFL are heavily considering an Eastern states night GF to avoid that clash. Hosting it in WA means they get the twilight spectacle plus the Eastern states night viewing. Imagine the GF finishing under our disco lights? What a party.

I think the AFL would be hesitant about a night final in Qld. Not the right conditions to showcase the pinnacle of our game.

They are not considering it, it is a condition of moving the GF that it not clash with either racing event on 17th or 24th October.

GF will start no earlier than 5pm AEDT, and quite likely will be in primetime on the East Coast.

No later, or no earlier? Few little bits starting to align for WA. Think we're still a long shot but the AFL are clearly cash strapped, and if the rumours are true the WA State Govt have privately offered to buy the finals or the GF. This seems to correlate with comments on the Hardball Gets podcast that private discussions are ramping up and public comment will be minimal as many individuals have staked their position and don't want to be seen bending on that stance.

Sorry, 5om AEDT is the earliest the GF will be.

Id rather a reserves side developing our second tier players than continue with our AFLW side.

**Edit i wasnt aware that there were seperate soft caps. Still sad to see no Beagles next year.

The AFL understood the unfortunate reality that some people would share your view.

Wisely, they ensured that AFL reserves came out of the mens soft cap and the AFLW had it's own footy dept budget and soft cap.

Wise from the AFL.

Womens footy is now our clubs core business just as much as the men's program, and the quicker you accept that, the better off you will be.

Ah ok. I thought it all came out of the same soft cap.

In that case i was ill informed.

Let me be clear im not for or against AFLW.

WA sports minister stating WA Govt refusing to ‘buy’ GF.

So be interesting to hear the ‘truth’

On a side note apparently Gil and McGowan go toe to toe on a few issues surrounding AFL expectations and requirements surrounding football.

Methinks Gil not used to state government saying ‘No’

3.10pm GF here would be 6.10 eastern states. Would be a good opportunity for the AFL to trail a twilight/night GF!
Best of both worlds. They can keep the traditionalists happy with a day GF, and the TV guys can put a game in prime time to the eastern states.

I can’t even begin to state how sucky a night GF will be at the Gabba. Not that QLD don’t deserve it, of course they do. But the quality of the game would suffer immeasurably.
