How is my view narrow when not 1 person, out of 135,000 spectators , who were asked to boo by Newman, booed?
I think it's clear your view is the fringe view.
You’re a friggin nutcase..seriously

Dont believe so. He told Crouch to "smash that BC" im pretty sure. Pretty reliable source but wouldn't die on the hill, or care really. Wasn't an N bomb anywayad as the actual words he used… it’s on record hopefully that he didn’t use the N word that day. For no normal

He didn’t say the N word that day.

Thank Christ.

But the other word is just as bad.

He’s a idiot feral.

Good at catching and kicking footies. That’s about it.

Tex was sledged by Robbie Young about his still born child at 3/4 time. Then tex reacted. Was what he said back racist… yes. But it’s funny how something so serious is swept under the rug in the public..

There is a reason robbie young was lost to the sanfl system at seasons end that year..he was fired.

I reckon Sammy has a bit of a point about the welcome to country TBH. It was invented by Ernie Dingo after he saw the Māoris doing it and is not culturally traditional.

That said, it isn’t hurting anyone and is a nod to the traditional custodians of the land so booing it is probably going a bit too far.

I have no idea who R .Young is and I’m sorry I don’t.

That story makes me feel very uneasy..and sad for the young Australian man.

Ok i see.

Have you got a direct quote from an eye witness on what exactly were Walker’s words?
No direct quote. But two sources

My grandfather is a life member of the NAFC (the club Robbie young was playing for) and I heard this from him. As you could imagine when a player is moved on for certain issues it’s a big in house subject at the club.

Also through my employment I have heard from someone very high up at AFC (off field employee) the story.

Both of the stories are identical from two different sources unbeknownst to each other.

I don't think Sam is racist. I think Sam is very clever at making valid points against common sentiments. He loves to challenge people's mindsets especially when the majority is following the lead of the PC blindly. This is in fear of being cancelled.

There seems to be no room for balanced discussion or debate at the risk of being labelled a racist in today's world.

I appreciate your honesty and forthright account. But it’s still not rock solid evidence.

Spot on.

He's had to apologize and pay out Nicky Winmar 3 years ago.
"Three AFL figures including media commentator Sam Newman have issued a formal apology and signed a $100,000 settlement with St Kilda great Nicky Winmar over comments they made on a podcast about Winmar’s famous stand against racism."

This is the problem with society today … people see a click bait headline and just run with it, having little or no knowledge of the actual facts.

I listened to that Podcast that started this Winmar settlement, did you ? Sam Newman, Don Scott and Mike Sheahan were talking about the day when Nicky Winmar raised his jumper and pointed to his skin at Victoria Park. Mike Sheahan, as leading journo of the day, was musing that most people if the press box thought his actions were about the heart they’d shown in winning at Vic Park, and wasn’t related to a stance against racism.

Sam Newman was barely even involved in the conversation. There was nothing racist, nothing controversial and nothing sinister. It was just honest discussion about how the thoughts of many in the media at the time was it was not related to his skin colour and was related to the heart they showed. Newman wasn’t driving the conversation and said nothing at all to denigrate what happened or question anything one iota..

Anyone who listened to the Podcast knows it wasn’t racist one single bit.

Then Winmar got up in arms as he probably assumed they said he was making it up, or had questioned his motives … which is not remotely what happened. But on the back of the Goodes saga and other racist issues within the AFL at the time, Gil and the AFL got involved and it ended up in mediation with Newman paying a fine.

Please please just listen to the Podcast and report back based on facts, not on headlines. You can argue all you like about other incidents, but this one was an absolutely disgraceful whitewash based on absolutely nothing except virtue signalling by the AFL.

Listen to what started it and you’ll be amazed at how it all blew up from innocent discussion driven mostly by Mike Sheahan about what the media pack ‘thought’ was the reason behind the pointing at the skin on the day it happened 25-years prior.

A racist would not have an aboriginal man as his hero, which is what Polly Farmer is to Newman.

Newman is sick to death of being welcome to his own country… in a ceremony that has gone from occasional and brief, to every …. Single … occasion … and now rarely ever brief.

I’m sick of being made to feel like a visitor in my own country too … but if it brings peace and happiness to others it’s not a big deal for me, knock yourself out at every opportunity. Being sick of a ceremony you see as being too frequent and too long doesn’t make you racist … it just means you’re sick of a ceremony you see as being overused and too long.

The more and more it’s used the less and less impact it will have, so I’d reserve it for special occasions and not at the cutting of every ribbon or at every gathering in every setting. But that’s just me.

Freedom of speech does not equal freedom from consequence, and I’d be surprised if the AFL isn’t considering removing him from the Hall of Fame.

That said, perhaps it’s better if he isn’t removed while he’s still alive, simply because we’re all better off ignoring his thinly veiled hate speech instead of giving him more attention.
