A petition to outcast or delete someone's past achievements is not free speech, its a form of cancelling.

If it was free speech, there would be criticism on Newman's view, or arguments against his view.

Yeah nah. If one was to pass a law banning this petition it would clearly violate freedom of speech. If you don’t actually get that …it’s a bit sad. You can throw around the word cancelling as much as you want - but you’re not getting it.

It’s an invented internet buzzword to ensure that people can verbalise their idea that people on the other side of social discussion to them can be classified in some capacity.

On this topic the more I think about it, the more I am certain that Newman is actually smart enough to ensure that his comments stay JUST on the side of ‘divisive’ rather than being just plain racist, but behind closed doors the guy is more than likely just an out and out racist.

I find it difficult to believe, given how much most celebrities try to ensure that they don’t get shut off altogether, that his comments recently and in the past are at the most extreme end of his views

and one should be mature to know a joke is what it is, and not to be taken seriously or as actual fact. Most humor is making fun or laughing at someone/something expense.
