Respect to Carlton

Not to a person watching the game with one eye.

Even the commentators after they game when watching the replay said it probably wasn't a free and they were cheering for the Blues all night.

But anyway it was a fantastic game tonight, one of the best of the season. I see many good games between these teams in the coming years.

Never seen Carrazzo do anything dirty like that ever in his career, in fact have always thought he is a clean player and a good leader for Carlton on the field.

The rest can hold their head high. (Davies on Darling was rubbish, umps need to put their ****ing whistles away)

I don't think it lost us the game, but surely over-umpiring to the extreme for a half before completely changing to the opposite would not be considered great?

Just let them play all game

The umpires wanted the players to play and stop holding off the ball. Both teams were breaking the rules so the umps had to umpire it. have a close look, almost all where there.

Only the good ones.

How anybody could watch the 22 individuals that absolutely busted their guts and came so close tonight, and not feel any respect for them, I've no idea. Regardless of their opinion of the club as a whole.

I dont know any of the players so I have no reason to disrespect them.

I just dont respect the club.

I guess my point is that this opinion hasn't changed based on 1 final.

Great effort from the Carlton boys. They really took it up to West Coast after looking gone a few times. They never gave up and nearly pinched the game. I was really impressed with Lachie Henderson's game. He was very cool down back.

Can people stop saying that Chris Judd carries the Blues on his back? He did virtually nothing in the game against West Coast and Carlton nearly won it. He didn't do much against Essendon either and the Blues had a thumping victory.

It's one of the great myths in football that Chris Judd has "single-handedly lifted this team up the ladder". Carlton have improved out of sight all over the ground. They used to be rubbish. Not any more. One superstar means jackshit. Look at Gary Ablett with his wooden spoon.

Carlton's "no names" made a valiant contribution against the Eagles. If they had Gibbs, Waite, Kreuzer and Russell in their team tonight, they would've rolled West Coast. The Blues are going to give it a shake in 2012. Judd will probably continue to hog all the attention from the media, but this team is far from a one man band.

quality post.

Never understood this line of thinking. I hate Collingwood but I can't help but respect them.

Some people have no class, I respect the Don because they are winners bornand bread and West Coast are the same. It is a state of mind Carlton has it too, we just lost it for like 10 years :)

How can you not respect Geelong even the Hawkes all great clubs with great players.

No need for that. That's pretty insulting, based on my opinion of a sports team.

You have no idea of my reasons.

There is a difference between not respecting a person/entity and disrespecting them.

Play on.

WC were deserved winners, the umpiring was terrible both ways.

Agree. Didn't affect the result but it pisses me off that I have to take time out of watching my club play to give the umpires a piece of my mind.:D

They were desperate, more desperate than us , hats off to them ! They were better than I thought they would be.
surprised to hear the blues fans complaining about the umps, thought they helped them.

Everyone must not have watched carlton games this year considering we were the number 1 tackling team and number 1 cont posessions team in the comp for the year

Great game. Felt Carlton were gone when they went down by 21 mid through the last. Was even more sure when west coast first got to the lead in the second. Displayed good fight all night, especially to to nearly claw their way back in the end. Lack of genuine target in the forward 50 was really showing. What if that bomb to Walker had been to a genuine KPF.

A lot of love in this thread! But respect to West Coast, in my short lifetime i've never seen a team turn it around in one year like they have, absolutely love watching them play, all the best to them and hopefully this game sparks a new modern rivalry for the years to come :thumbsu:

Both teams were great tonight. Very good finals match. 4th against 5th so it makes sense they were well matched. Both have the potential to keep rising up the ladder but its no given.

Gee though its fantastic watching Carlton getting tipped out of the finals year after year with heartbreaking losses. Just feels right. Sorry Bluebaggers just being honest

What a great game of footy that was! I'm not really bothered, both teams gave it their absoloute ****ing all. Every single ****ing player on that feild tonight should hold their head up high.. Cant fault em Carlton or West Coast. Win or lose im proud, No one really gave us a chance tonight but we showed some people that we have the appetite for the contest that some people thought we never had.

Thought that Ratten was completely wrong about the "free kick" at the end there. It was a complete 50/50 contest, also the Carlton player had clear hands in the back of the Eagles player, so really it should have been ours anyway.

One thing people need to understand, tanking means loosing games on purpose to gain an advantage. As you saw our run of finishing positions between 2003 and 2008, can't you clearly see we were just disgusting? It is impossible to tank for 6 years your imbeciles.

Yes it is a cop out blaming the umpires. My fellow Carlton supporters need to learn the rules as not to embarrass ourselves. If you read the rule book you would notice the following 2 rules:

A) if a West Coast player is caught holding the ball but they manage to score a goal from the spillage within 5 seconds of the tackle, then a holding the ball decision will not be called. (ie Shuey tackled- Nicoski goaled)

B) if the ball is touched before the West Coast goal line, it must clear the goal line by a minimum of 50 cm to be deemed a point or else it is considered play on- unless an opposition player is in possession of the ball after it has crossed the line, then it is deemed a point.

I must of missed that moment?
Was no tackle what so ever.
