Kane Cornes said there were “probably 10 players’’ who let the side down, naming Jase Burgoyne, Lachie Jones, Esava Ratugolea, Charlie Dixon, Jed McEntee, Francis Evans and captain Connor Rozee.
“You can’t have that from Connor Rozee last night. You’re the captain of the footy club. He’s had a disappointing year, Rozee.’

And we would have won if not for you meddling kids

I'm really torn. Last night was the first time I've ever left a final early. I've also never missed a final I could attend, but this week might just be time.

I left just thinking what is the point. It's the same story we've seen for years, we aren't actually a threat in any way, shape, or form, it's literally just a waste of time and money, but even worse it is emotionally draining and embarrassing. I don't know how you bring yourself to continue to subject yourself to that, with a club that refuses to make any change. The club doesn't deserve us attending, despite our loyalty and passion for the club, at some point it has to come down to giving them what they deserve until they start taking risks and being a brave club again.
If i lived in Adelaide i would probably go, i'm going to get just as frustrated watching at the TV at home i may as well be there letting it all out rather than waking the kids.

But i'm not driving 3 hours and taking time off work for this shit show.

I've now left during the 3rd quarter twice this year, not even the last the bloody 3rd quarter it has been evident there is going to be absolutely no fight at all in this team so why should we stay to watch.

Jones has been a massive disappointment since he was drafted absolute dud should of let him go to Collingwood when they bid on him offers nothing just a jasper pittard with a mullet

Who cares about individual players, it goes well beyond that at this point. 21 of the 23 players from last night's game were in the team when we beat Sydney by 112 points only a month ago. You have to look at the real issue which is the cultural failings that lead to an inability to perform under pressure. I've been saying it for years - until this is addressed, it won't matter who is playing or who is coaching, nothing will change.

That was the feeling I got straight after half time, sort of a resignation by Ken that strategically this game was gone so they pulled the plug.

Either that or there were some big bets going on behind the scenes. Game felt like it was thrown.
You could feel every single bit of oxygen get sucked out of the stadium as soon as Butters was putting on the vest after half time. We 100% packed it in.

As a lifelong member I feel compelled to go, I feel that duty to attend and support my team. However how the **** do they expect us to continue to support when they let this continue to happen year after year. At some stage you've gotta say enough is enough. I'm going to stay home, save myself $200 and just watch a rerun of the '04 GF to retain my sanity. I wish the club could forfeit and just remove all doubt.
Good post, that’s exactly how I feel atm.

Saw the vision before the game cats were jumpin around havin a good time pregame meanwhile hinkley stairing everyone down like the sith lord he is and who woulda guessed drew shits himself first possy go figure. I reckon finals arent scary but kern does his mental ****ery to instill this belief into our club. I mean which kind of ****head thinks its a good idea to surprise his own team and sub his star player. Was always going to deflate the team why wouldnt you just tell them straight up

Yeah i also noticed this.

Something about Geelong dancing around the rooms and clapping absolutely scared the fk out of me. It was a bad omen.

Stinkley must get them wound up so tight that the nerves literally take over control of their limbic systems, and by the time the ball gets bounced they are already exhausted.

Meanwhile Geelong.. well what more needs to be said

That's heartbreaking. Two guys as Port Adelaide as Port Adelaide gets. Imagine how that defeat has rippled through the old players.
These are the blokes that need to get their voice heard and make change.

Missed Timmy g did he have a crack or was he as weak as piss as usual

We need him to let rip like Rowe did. Make some ****ing noise

Who cares about individual players, it goes well beyond that at this point.

I was thinking about players today. Rather than looking at who was here for the Sydney win, I looked at who was here for each of our previous finals losses under Hinkley. It might not be perfect, but this is what I came up with.

2013 SF: 2 players (Boak, Wines)
2014 PF: 2 players (Boak, Wines)
2017 EF: 4 players (Boak, Byrne-Jones, Dixon, Wines)
2020 PF: 7 players (Boak, Burton, Butters, Byrne-Jones, Dixon, Rozee, Wines)
2021 PF: 10 players (Aliir, Bergman, Boak, Burton, Butters, Byrne-Jones, Dixon, Drew, Rozee, Wines)
2023 QF: 13 players (Aliir, Bergman, Boak, Burton, Butters, Byrne-Jones, Drew, Horne-Francis, Jones, McEntee, Rioli, Rozee, Wines)
2023 SF: 14 players (Aliir, Bergman, Boak, Burton, Butters, Byrne-Jones, Dixon, Drew, Horne-Francis, Jones, McEntee, Rioli, Rozee, Wines)

Despite an ever-changing cast of characters, we always find a way to lose.

Some of those changes are forced. If they were fit or available, it's easy to imagine the likes of Farrell, Houston, SPP, and even Finlayson playing last night. Big deal. The season is a game of attrition. Teams can't expect to make it through unscathed, with their best 23 in tact from round 1 to grand final day. It's easy to imagine those players playing, but it's almost impossible to imagine them changing the result.

It's not just the players. It's not remotely credible that, over more than a decade, we've consistently failed to recruit enough players with the required talent and temperament. No serious club running a serious football program would allow that problem to persist without making changes in (at least!) list management and recruitment.

It's the coach, the chairman, and the culture.

I agree in part, but you get a strong coach and that can change very quickly.

Recruit a hardened experienced player.. eg callum ward.. a standard setter someone who won’t stand for soft rubbish..

Love to see Selwood or hodge involved some how.. we need toughness and people who have done it before.

We need a coaching staff full of quality not cheap shit

Why not swing Narkle through the middle/wing and Rozee off half back, DBJ forward.
Rozee going back is feasible. Narkle isn’t too bad in a wing, put Boak more in the middle maybe. DBJ needs to go back forward. His first kick from the backlines last night magnified what he is no longer in the back line. Only one of McEntee or Evans.
