Autopsy Review: Collingwood v Melbourne (37 pt loss) - That was D-Day

Might wait to post here for when people are a bit more reasonable.

Everyone saying "play the kids, play for picks", and then yelling for Bucks' sacking when a team of kids lose a game, thus getting us a higher pick...make up your minds, guys.

Oh and will just say: the rucks need more forward line experience--why do you think they're playing them both (with no white)? Drop witts and Grundy doesn't get to spend any time forward. We can't drop them both to get forward line experience in the vfl, we need each to give the other the opportunity there.

Still think there's good times ahead but that doesn't excuse today's performance. We've been quite quite bad since that hawthorn game.

I'd be interested to know how VFL watchers thought Scharenberg went. Didn't notice him too much tbh but stats say 16 touches which seems like an ok effort

Did you see Reid in the VFL last week? Did okay, but barely moved out of the goal square. When he did move out from the square he looked pretty uncertain, at times clueless. Hardly arrogance not to play Reid.

Kicked 3 goals and setup about another 2 and could actually hold a mark as well, something that Witts can't do up forward. Would have been alot better than what was served up today, and what about Elliott, nothing to say why he was the sub????

He looked ok but nothing special. A lot of his possessions were quick handballs in close as we were trying to manoeuvre our way out of of our back half.

Will be better for the blow out next week (and he needs to be played next week).

Denial all over the place regarding the coach.
Yeah right. Here's the thing, I've seen this same bunch of players play so much better against superior sides, only a few months back. Could it be that they have just had a poor run of form, and that the relative youth of the side means that their poor form will be rather bad indeed?

It was always unlikely that we were going to play finals this year. It's galling that we let Melbourne hammer the last nail into the prospect of finals footy, but that's the way it goes sometimes.

i dont know what everyone elses views are.. but this rebuilding excuse we continue to use is total bs.. id like to follow my tream in the here and now and have em play decent footy.. yes rebuild.. but im not prepared to wait 5 yrs for us to be a threat.. time is way too short.

yeah what else needs be said??

There was a lot more in the pipeline, but after the swear filter got to it, all that was left was that and "hello" and "goodbye"...:D:drunk:

Players are worn out. Need to change training load next season aiming to peak around end of September, like the smart clubs do.
And maybe rest more players next season ,giving young players AFL time in the process.

He played a solid game in the VFL last week, that's all.

The idea that he would have fared any better than the rest of our forward line seems a bit off. We had plenty of inside 50s, but I don't think that those entries did the forwards many favours.

We're selecting the side that gives us the best chance of winning, nek minnit but we're a young side.
Moore has gone past White.
Debut Shaz.
De Goey is a superstar.
Drop Fas.
Play Dwyer.
Bucks is an astute Football brain.
The future is bright.

You guys rock :thumbsu:

I only.just finished playing myself. But I'm gonna assume that all the people saying drop White all have egg on their face as Moore had no support and not ready to be the number one.

Brings me to the next point, I assume it's also common knowledge that we play our best footy with ONE of witts and Grundy in the side. Not both.

And I'll assume fasolo did nothing and Seedsman was even worse.

Anything wrong there? Don't even kbow if I'll bother watching the replay...

Explain to me this, you drop white ( which i agree with ) but then u promote seedsman and make elliott the sub? Surely we had to bolster our forward line and not diminish it even more than we had to.

Seedsman, if u want to play him ( hes terrible ) would be better as the sub as he could run free when the pace is out of the game.

Then in the last half we allowed melbourne to play a loose behind the ball and reverse the roles from the previous encounter this year when we use oxley as the loose man.

Kick outs, why the fk is langdon allowed to kick out, he is terrible at it, his loopy kicks almost always get spoiled.

U play 2 rucks which im ok with, but when they play forward they have to be the deepest forward, not 40m out from goal.

Kicking skills are deplorable

Or could it be that Buckley's style is based on so much intensity that the side burns out in 1/2 a season and when the intensity drops we don't have much to offer. I really don't know the answer but some blame must have to go on the coaching when you lose six in a row.
