Just watched the replay. Cordy was very good.
A real competitor , probably never played on the forward line much in his life but has been valuable considering there literally no one else.
Yes. He's been getting better with every game. More than just playing a role.. as important as that is ... but those goals were great.
He's come from virtually nowhere, kept back or hidden like a secret weappn?

Looking at our finals game stats they have been something else. Averaging 98 points for and 73 against

Swans are 90 for and 77 against

Our uncontested and contested posessions, inside 50's and clearances rank 1 in the finals

Dogs backline v gws forward line:

FB: Morris (rookie) Roberts (rookie) Boyd (rookie)

Hb: Jj (rookie) hamling (DFA) Biggs (traded for a 2 pick upgrade from 39 to 37)

Gws forward line:

Hf: smith (1st rounder) cameron (bullshit underage pre-selection) Greene (1st rounder

Ff: lobb (pick 29) Patton (pick 1) Whitfield (pick 1)

Amazing

Bevo did say the personnel had a lot to do with the connections and lack of scoring. Safe to say he has been vindicated now after we get our best players back and scoring improves by three goals a game.

Pretty huge thing to note, Wood was the only player in our defense that we'd taken in the national draft. Hell, even Biggs came from the Sydney rookie list.

Roberts was PSD I think, not Rookie. There was some kind of sudden retirement or some shit and we had an extra pick.

Jayden schofield walked out on us after the draft citing home sickness. There isn't much difference between PSD & rookie when you're taking an undrafted player, it's basically like a rookie that goes onto your main list.

Both Cordy and Toyd need to hold the grabs.. Only critique of Cordy, he coughed one up taking a mark inside 50

If Cordy takes one of those chest marks and kicks another goal then he's had a brilliant game.

Yeah love his competitiveness and whilst he's not a natural forward, his defender traits mean that he wills himself to contests and makes sure opponents don't take easy marks. Unlike a lot of forwards where it doesn't mean asmuch, defenders know how important it is to half the contest when they are out of position. I've seen Cordy do this several times this finals series.

On a different subject I don't want to overly critical of Stringer again like I was in the VFL thread a couple of weeks ago but he's still got a long way to go in how he contests high balls and marking situations. Yep he's improved his defensive efforts considerably and at least when he's unimpeded he's flying for marks again (which is good).

But when their is bodies around he's just got to get better at ignoring the bodies around him and concentrate on the pill. Classic example was the play that almost cost us in the end when Scully got the ball in the middle and we were lucky not to give away 50. High ball goes up from Biggs and Stringer sees Patful out of the corner of his eye and bails out of the contest. Now all Stringer had to do was use his athleticism to jump higher than Patful and bring the ball to ground. Patful left his opponent and Macrae was free at the bottom of the pack. Instead Patful smashed the ball into the corridor and only Easton Wood was the one to save us (which he did).

I'd say he has improved his high ball play from 5% to about 35%. We saw evidence that he's at least leading up at the ball carrier (particularly against Hawthorn) and when he's free he will run and jump at the ball.

He's gotta get better at contesting high balls with traffic around him. Gotta get much better!

Not sure where to put this. Could be in not worth a thread - but more relevant here.
My son and I are in melbourne Thursday until Monday.

Is there a bar or bars where doggies will be congregating over this period.
Any assistance would be appreciated. Prob go for parade on Friday and then Sat fed sqr but need a drink over the journey
Cheers

Is it just me, Im still having to stop for a moment to think that we are in it, discussing grand final tickets, seating, selection.

I still cannot believe it.

If we win on Saturday I'll probably end up crying in my beer. Now I cant do a nudie run for obvious reasons so Ive got to think of something else creative

Mrs Bont2Boyd and I were discussing whether it felt real or not last night. We decided that until we watched the parade on Friday and headed into the G on Saturday morning, it would probably still feel a bit surreal.

Remember 89?
Horrid time.
I was there with mum and dad.
Hats off to all others who were there too
If it wasn't for us, this dream would never be alive
(Excuse my self congrats here, but remembering that makes it so much more amazing)
Go our beloved Bulldigs!

This might make the hair on the back of your neck stand up

The best 2 minute football video I have ever seen and there is not one view of the match itself. I can relate to every reaction and lived every emotion as each of those doggy fans shown. I did not turn away or hide my eyes even though I wanted to when Jack was lining up for that last goal. was jumping before the siren as a guy behind us knew there were 30 seconds left when Dicko took that mark. What a night, unbelievably well captured
