Collingwood and Richmond once had a gate sharing deal going on. Right up until the tiges jumped ship a week before the game and decided to take all the money for themselves.

to think that there are people that are struggling to get a seat at this game yet on the night there might be a massive empty space in the mcc members stand.

Are we playing twice this season?

Let's hope both teams are still in the running and the Tiger fans can return the favour and boost our coffers too.

Didn't a lot of the bigger clubs use to share both gates for these games once upon a time?

Hopefully we will have another 80,000 later in the season.

Frankly I can't understand some of the Tigerhate and spite that goes on because a healthy and up and running Richmond means revenue for everyone. The turnout for this game is phenomenal and is a sign of what the Tiger Army out and about would mean to the game. If we go top 8 or better still top 4 everyone benefits.

Round 1 - Carlton home game = 72552
Round 14 - Richmond home game = 73503

I'm not sure what statistical basis there is for your contention but given we had greater crowd numbers than the Tigers in 2008, what you are suggesting would be an interesting anomaly.

I'd go with the personal perception explanation just quietly.

I respect your investigation on the figures but if you were, you couldn't possibly disagree with me - regardless of who you support and what bias you/me may have. Black and white on this one sorry bud.

Tiger ferals will be out in force again and I think you'll find thursday nights game will have a similar ratio again to the centenary match with hopefully a different end result to the game! ;)

Exactly. At every 'sell out' game last year (except for the GF), there were acres of empty seats up on the top deck in the forward pocket. MCC members hate sitting up there. If the MCC members aren't interested in sitting up there, open it up to the public - say 10,000 more seats.

I reckon there will be no more than 90,000 there Thursday night.

It will get between 80 and 85 thousand there.

went on sunday to get a ticket from a ticketek outlet and they said it was sold out. So went home and got one on the internet when i got home. Dont know how that works haha

Collingwood,Carlton,Essendon & Richmond ALL split the gate 50/50 when playing one another, this has been the case since 2003.

No, it isnt.

Richmond reneged on their deal with Collingwood years ago.

The only confirmed gate sharing agreements are between Essendon and Collingwood on Anzac day and Essendon v Richmond for both encounters in the season.

Not exactly true crazy!.... When the deal was done between these two clubs collingwood were better placed and forced an 60/40 deal in their favour?... though when Richmond started finding their feet again and were matching the Big clubs again in attendences, we ask collingwood to even it up at 50/50.
Collingwoods response was tough luck fellas, should of thought of that before:p.
So we said ok "No Deal".... so in short both at fault!

We used to split with Collingwood, but it was their idea of 'fair' ( ie, ~60/40 ), and when they refused to split things evenly, acted shocked when we ended the deal 'at the last minute' ( ignoring the months of discussions before that ).

I'm pretty sure we split with Essendon for the dreamtime game ( and it's return match ), but not so sure about Carlton.

There would be a lot of pissed off club members if this is the case and they couldn't get a seat (even though it is likely).
