Well, he is...and he isn't. He's bringing in the young guys, but only at the expense of other young guys. It's never a young player coming in for an experienced player who's out of form. So either the experienced guys will never be dropped regardless of form, or the MC simply don't want to play what they consider to be too many younger guys at the same time.

I personally think it's a little of each, but I'm only speculating of course.
I'd guess it's the latter, we need to rotate them through.

Not sure it’s that simplistic…That’s a supporter’s point of view, sure…But hearing from Mini each week - not to mention the thoughts of Broad, Grimes, Nank and Hop - this guy is up to his eyeballs in it…
It shouldn’t be up to the players to have any say in it as that wreaks of a boys club with the players running the show. I hope you’re wrong if that’s the logic.

Nah you’re right lads, MRJ should have kept his spot. Hasn’t kicked a goal since R1. Drop Graham. Makes more sense…..
FFS why does this seem like sense? MRJ Is total trash and has no sign of change. Graham is the type of player every club needs but somehow gets bagged every week. PS I worked out why it makes sense it's 5 am, not 2 lol

I don't think I've ever heard any player come out and say that the interim coach is not up to it and wouldn't be the right person for the full time gig. Also not a wrap for them coming out and pumping up the chances of the interim coach because it's kinda like the board saying the coach has their full support.
Never sure what any of it really means.

It means players have already been told mini is the new coach

I wasn’t suggesting that…Just making the point that it may not be based simply on wins and losses…How do you think he’s been going T.I…?

I think he’s been good so far. I would’ve liked at least Brown playing and possibly Trezise instead of KMAC or JGTI. His test is coming against Melbourne and a few other eight point games. I think he’s pretty well got the job.

Yeah, they're more often than not trained monkeys in that respect when it comes to the media. But I'm sure in a closed room discussion with Benny and the board they'd be far more forthcoming if they had their misgivings.

That said, there's nothing to suggest the players are not entirely genuine in their respect for Mini. Fair chance they want him for the job permanently.

More than just melbourne mate
He also has Bulldogs , Aints & Port to get over and the true test will come and we will see just how much they want McWalter

I actually would not mind RFC try something different with the coach.

A lot of the players coming out and backing Mini is not a good thing because we do not want the tail to wag the dog and it is about winning premierships not necessarily the players at a point in time.

I would not mind a shared coach scenario where Mini and his assistant, switches his rule with another coach and his or her assistant on a week by week basis. Of course all coaches would be privy to the coaching going on of each interaction with full transparency so they would not be in competition, rather it would be a team effort. There could be no underhanded ness. That way the coaches have less pressure getting sacked after Dimma and development can be a focus without worrying about wins and losses straight away. I have nothing against Mini but the status quo/more of the same scenario is not ideal, some kind of refresh would be nice, even for the players to hear a different perspective. I actually think a decision can be had after the season, I see no reason to rush it right yet. In fact if two joint senior coaches on less where prepared to work together for less that would be a rare scenario that could help them create a more robust scenario where they are less likely to be sacked initially because it would be a rare scenario the club would be interested to see how it develops if the players have buy in where ideas are shared and the overall goal is to maximise opportunity to make the team better and develop the players

After a period like a year or two a overall coach can be determined or even later if appropriate but I see no rush. One of the coaches or both might get poached by other clubs as newish but with a rare form of experience in the coaching field

The main focus is list management and development given we do not appear to be in contention right now

I am not saying we are rebuilding because clubs are rebuilding all the time, or should be. Rather commentators like to bang on about the rebuild coach having no chance. As a result if RFC employed two joint coaches that would mitigate the risk and pressure of a coach getting sacked when development was a focus and it certainly would be more difficult for others to blame a singular coach and give each joint coach a far better chance to develop, grow, along with the team improving their prospects along with the team down the track

All the same club's players one day all is good next day change of mind lol Ones that speak out as Jack did with DH how dare he be all over the news lol
I wouldn't take anything they say to Sportsbet as they say you win some but lose a lot

MRJ is a kid still learning the caper. Dermie thought Dusty was a plodder and that worked out ok. He's still finding his way. Does some great things defensively. Not writing him off. On Graham and the others, we just have to remember the current coaching group aren't interested in stat plodder types. So how they rate and view games is totally different to us. So I don't get too frustrated when these guys play because I have no idea what benchmarks they have hit to keep their spot in the team. I rate JG.
He isn't much good with mates! His best mate just bombed one of his embassy's lol
Just wait till Xi takes Taiwan.

I think the leadership should have a say in it. Players have to feel comfortable with whoever is coming in. That much we should have learnt from the years 1981 to 2008. And it's certainly a lesson Gale has learnt and in our interview with Chris Nash on Monday night he said as much. There's a reason we have the best admin in the AFL. Viva la Benny.
