Starting to feel more and more that Dimma had this planned last year. As soon as the likelihood of us winning another flag became unlikely he jumped ship so his reputation wasn't tarnished in any way and he kept his value high. I would also not be surprized if he was given some assurances before he left, that the Suns position would be a great fit for him.

The fact that the Suns board sacked Dew after playing the two strongest teams this year seems far from coincidental to me. Seems planned. If they had of waited until the end of the season, Dew might have won enough games to play finals and then they would have had to re-contract him and miss out on Dimma. If it was a first year coach with a record of 7-9, you'd be optimistic that they could still make finals but I feel the Suns Board jumped early to avoid any chance of Dew succeeding this season and for Dimma to become unavailable.
I believe the likelihood of Dimma being the Suns coach before the end of the year, is now almost a given.

Thank you Dimma for everything you gave us at Tigerland but I'll absolutely despise you if you take any of our star players, knock us out of finals or hurt our chances to win another flag. Good luck!
there is another cynical view as to why they sackd dew when they did

This is the problem with Mini, keeps selecting his favourites and isn’t bold enough at the selection table…..
Well, he is...and he isn't. He's bringing in the young guys, but only at the expense of other young guys. It's never a young player coming in for an experienced player who's out of form. So either the experienced guys will never be dropped regardless of form, or the MC simply don't want to play what they consider to be too many younger guys at the same time.

I personally think it's a little of each, but I'm only speculating of course.

They sacked Dew purely and simply because they haven’t improved. The expectation was finals this year. The Pies and Power losses proved just how far off they are and that they haven’t improved at all. The is an expectation on the Gold Coast for success. A first successful step Is Playing finals

Australian Cricket snapped him up pretty quick

Nah you’re right lads, MRJ should have kept his spot. Hasn’t kicked a goal since R1. Drop Graham. Makes more sense…..
Well thought out response CB17. Could’ve dropped any of Kmac, JGTI or Grimes as well as MRJ. Gutless by the MC and not only by minibus as you originally posted. Get your facts right.

It’s more than enough time.
It’s likely that by the end of August there will be 3-4 other clubs looking for a coach. We want access to our first choice.
i'll leave it up to the powers that be because i have no ****ing clue, im no where near the inner sanctum of how AFL clubs work just like everyone else on here bar maybe a few.

Correct. Makes total sense. Grimes. Lol. Clearly your Super Coach team isn’t doing so well. We’re winning games of footy and trying to get further cohesion. The solution? Mass change. You were banging on about Couthard after his second game. All rowdy about the MC not selecting him. He gets selected and your still complaining. Absolute comedy hour stuff. We don’t select players based on stats. Clearly, the mentioned players you are discussing are still meeting team and coach KPI’s. Facts. Like you know what drives selection. But all the players you have repeatedly bitched about, all been given a shot at it. That much we have seen. You ready for Mini to be 6-2 by Saturday night? Pretty exciting.

isn't it like a match committee thing? he doesn't have the only vote I thought
Depends who you ask in this thread. Some think it was all Dimma and now it’s all Mini…. ;)

Didn’t Chris Naish mention he was coming back to play?
Pffffft, Nahas, he was no Andy Collins. Anyway, off to bed now. Have a great night everyone.

Not Dimma, it’s “KDH”. I wonder how hos love life is going? Can i get a high moralistic update?
Mate it’s going better than mine , since the chemo it doesn’t work

The more I think about the more it would seem that the next few games against Melbourne, Dogs and Port will seal the fate of Mini.

Snag 1 and go close in the other 2 and it would go along way on his application. Lose all three with terrible losing margins and the job is wide open to anyone.
Not sure it’s that simplistic…That’s a supporter’s point of view, sure…But hearing from Mini each week - not to mention the thoughts of Broad, Grimes, Nank and Hop - this guy is up to his eyeballs in it…
