Same bucket as Ayres. Opportunity as a senior coach at AFL level has passed them by. Doesn’t mean they’re not good coaches.
Ayres did get an opportunity though. Twice. He took over 2 sides (he also followed Blight at Adelaide) that had either reached or won a grand final and was probably a bit unlucky as both were on or about to be on the wrong side of the hill when he took over.

I think the jurnos are just grasping at straws and just pulling names out of the known available candidates and hoping the one they have backed gets the job so they can claim they knew

Not one official reporter had McRae in the race until he had already gone into the final round of interviews and none had backed him either

It’s far to early in the process to have front runners getting leaked to the media and the only real genuine person that arguably would be a front runner is Mini simply because he is the caretaker and has publicly expressed interest in the job
Agreed like scoop who literally makes up his own headlines by reading the tea leaves and the majority are way off the mark

Geez even I reckoned that McRae was up for a senior coaching gig...assistant to Dimma and involved in 3 GFs...coached the VFL side to a GF win...
McRae just reeked of 'winning'...
Was hot to be the first cab of the rank for coaching duties...was certain he would be a senior coach...I even wanted him to replace Dimma...
Was not suprised that the wobbles picked him at all...

Dylan Grimes believes Andrew McQualter is the right man to coach Richmond beyond 2023.

The long-time Tigers assistant currently occupies the hot seat at Punt Road following the shock departure of three-time premiership coach Damien Hardwick in May.
McQualter has overseen five wins from seven games since stepping into the main job which has done his chances of landing the gig on a full-time basis no harm at all.
Asked on SEN Breakfast if he would stump up for McQualter regarding the Richmond job, co-captain Grimes replied: “Yeah absolutely. He’s got my vote.”
“I’m sure the board will go through a proper process of doing their due diligence.

“But I think ‘Mini’ has been a senior coach in waiting for a number of years now and seeing him at the helm has just solidified that in my mind.

“I’m sure they’ll do a formal process to see what applicants are out there, but he couldn’t have put his hand up any higher in my opinion.”

The triple premiership defender outlined the attributes that have seen McQualter achieve success so early in his senior coaching career.

“The breath of fresh air that Mini has brought has been great,” Grimes added.
“It feels like it’s exactly what we needed looking back now.
“At the same time, it feels like Mini has been a senior coach in waiting, just waiting for his opportunity for a number of years now.
“It’s been relatively seamless. He’s a great guy, he’s got good relationships with all the players.
“It’s been really good for us. He’s a really well-rounded coach.”

Grimes also explained how McQualter differs from Hardwick who oversaw the club’s most successful era in modern history.
“Dimma’s strength was the ability to get the absolute most out of every player and get us to that really elite level,” he said further.
“That involved that really pointy-end of coaching.
“Mini’s philosophy is a little bit different. It’s a little bit more laissez-faire, a little bit like the shackles are released.

“I feel like the boys are playing a bit more freely at the moment which is a good feeling. It’s an exciting brand to watch and we’re happy to wait and see how it holds up in Mini’s first tail-end of a season.”

Good to see the players back Mini, then again they wouldn’t say otherwise. Interesting to see who gets it.

If Carr wants the job, the club should just give him one test to see if he gets the job

Make Port drop our round 24 game against us

Simples

How would it be if Carr Is announced as our Senior coach the week we play Port lol. Then he steps aside straight away.

Only better outcome would be he is announced
Stays on with port for the final series like Kingsley last year

& we beat Port in a nail biting grand final with port making some “odd” positioning changes in the last 5 mins

He was actually only involved as an asst in 2020 , was vfl coach in 2017-2019 , like Morro . You were the only one then coz Coll were only club that interviewed him

Think he was also a development coach when he was our vfl coach

Similar to Morro

Unless the game is at the same time or different state they are either up in the coaches box or on the bench on gameday for the afl side as well

He was on the AFL bench weeks when there was no clash mostly home games. Rarely travelled with the Senior side of the VFL team was interstate. So wasn’t there 100% of the time
