1 quarter should not completely erase the 3 quarters, I don't think McIntosh will be dropped after that last quarter, imo Pickett is not offering much.
I would like to see JR rested for Sampson Ryan we are playing the Demons next, we not going to be favorites to win perfect opportunity to rest him & have him fresh for the Bulldogs game a more likely win.
I'd assume Coulthard comes into the 22.
Rest Jack? Happy birthday May and Lever!! You’re joking I’m guessing?

I have nothing against Mini McWalter but im not buying into these wins being great

We are winning games that we are expected to win with the talent on hand and if anything we should have buried the eagles & Hawks and gained 15%

I also see the nucleus of our next years team that have been developing in the magoo's that could make an impact next year

Apart from Paul Roos has a interim coach ever been successful and lasted longer than 5 years ?
Mini is not an interim coach.

Let me explain. Mini is a succession coach, much like Goodes was under Roos and Horse was also under Roos. Fly and Kingsley under Dimma.

Fly under Dimma ✅ resounding success
Kingsley under Dima ✅ arguably a success (tracking well)
Mini under Dimma ✅ Already has an impressive W-L record (without Lynch)

Based on the above I reckon he’ll get the gig.

I don’t think that argument about no interim winning a flag before is a fair argument as to why we shouldn’t pick Mini

Plenty of legitimate points to discuss but this is essentially just a correlation/causation fallacy

If we just count the number of interim coaches that have ever coached in a game vs the number of coaches selected from outside clubs the numbers are massively in the favour of the outside coaches so you are comparing a massive group of coaches to a very small one if the numbers were even the number of successful coaches would probably be around even

You could even frame it differently and say that a lot more non interim coaches over the history of the game have failed compared to interim coaches

Mini should be selected or not selected on his own merits and simply compared to the other candidates objectively and without that kind of bias thrown in that ultimately doesn’t mean anything

Fly hasn't achieved anything let's talk September

GWS still the same hot and cold nothing new

Mini has done well to stable the ship , but he has done the basics right players in there natural positions and a few tweaks here and there. All those sides we won we should be winning.

Let's be realistic here for a change we played 1 and half quarters of good footy yesterday and that win is covering over alot of cracks and issues. Mini subbed of Young because he had no match up as he mentioned. Barass from hawks went off wasn’t no super move.
Last year by comparison without lynch we lost to
Gold Coast
norf
drew with freo

It’s such a moot point as 99% of interim coaches have learned their craft thru a FAILED era , mini has learnt his craft in a triple premiership dynasty, same one McRae and kingsley did , now come at me with era recent interims coaches honed their craft
Brendan bolton era lol
Brad Scott last 12m lol
yea ok , talkabout 101 Nuffy central

So Mini only gets a tick if we beat sides we shouldn’t?

Lets look at the whole performance. Are we putting consistent 4 qtrs of footy in atleast a few games ?. Yesterday win is a prime example covering over alot of issues and cracks if that was top side no coming back.

Of course we have cracks. No one is denying that. But winning form is good form no matter the opposition. Our largest crack is in the fwd half where we are missing our major piece. Jack had probably played 4-5 more games this year than expected due to not having Lynch. He literally has to play.
The difference between us v WCE and Carlton v WCE was a dominate key forward.
We have cracks no doubt, but we are a hell of a lot closer then it appears

Our biggest crack is we’re slow. Our FL would be ok and it’s obvious that it is when we start winning the footy in the MF.
We get thrashed in the guts and we look terrible. Like most teams.

Without a doubt if Mini doesnt get the job then the assistants will be mostly gone with maybe Morris and Clarke remaining
teague , Mini , rutten will all surely be at another club specially if Dimma gets the GC job
Even if Mini gets the job, I would want a challenge to most of the assistants

When you win a game like that it tells the playing group are United , engaged and motivated to get the job done , big tick to coach ✔️

Losing centre clearance was against the grain for us as we generally win that KPI most weeks , the biggest fault in our team right now and it’s a challenge for the coach is that we lack a key forward with enough presence to be a thorn yo the intercept defender ,, to jacks credit he turned it around in 4Q
It looms as a pivotal point v Melb as that’s their strength

In my book still 5 hurdles to go , win a few of them and I’d say the jobs his , it would take the asst of the century to overwhelm what he’s demonstrated and that would still come with a Q mark

Why on earth would you advocate Rutten going in light of the impact he’s made , I’d be pretty certain he’d be the first one that remains , Clarke has been central to the positive environment for our indigenous players that now thrive at punt rd , what idiot would recommend we get rid of him
I reckon morris would be highly rated given the results from our oft undermanned vfl program
Kane lambert I think has found a groove as midfield coach , I bet clubs come for him

It is good to be winning when its close, for sure.

If we had beaten Brisbane you would be thinking Mini is ticking all the boxes, but we haven't beaten anyone yet.

Wanting this season to become a Mini fairytale but I still hate our gameplan, three quarters of kicking it isideways and backwards and then around the boundary to get six goals down against 16th.

My head tells me that we need a new system in a way that you only get with a new coach. You are right though, the next 3 weeks will probably answer all questions. Have you got a Plan B Mini?

If so, I would say this is the time to turn into Plan A.
