It's a pretty damn good start compared to all the other candidates. What I like most is what he's done with ports midfield this year though. Premiership player too.* me , if that’s what makes him an attractive option we are ****ed.
State league is way deceiving, should we be looking at GC VFL coach by your reckoning . It’s the bal of assets that’s wins at that level like when woodville sanfl won gf , they had dan menzel and stengle starring , not sure the coach was the differenceIt's a pretty damn good start compared to all the other candidates. With a healthy list and and another preseason into the younger players and a favorable draw we are well and truly still in contention imo.You could argue that if Lynch hadn't been injured we could be contending this year. We are 2.5 wins off 4th position. If he wasn't injured in game v Bulldogs that is almost certainly 1.5 wins. We lost by 1 10 24 44 v teams who would have been very vulnerable to Lynch in Swans, Suns, Power, Bombers.
So it is easily arguable that Lynch injury alone has cost us being right in the mix for a top 4 berth, and given we seem to be improving as the season progresses, we would be likely contending for a flag.
If Lynch is right next year, given a season for Balta and Young to settle as a KPD pairing and Taranto and Hopper to be assimilated into the midfield, we should be as good a chance as any team to contend in 2024. We also have a load of young promising players who will only be improving, Gibcus, Clarke, Sonsie, Brown, Banks, Rioli Jnr, Ryan, Miller, Ross, Mansell, Bauer, Ralphsmith, Coulthard. And a couple we haven't really seen yet in Smith and Campbell. You would be disappointed if we don't see sharply improved output from this collective next season in our AFL team.
There is no good reason for us not to contend bar strategic injuries or other unforeseeable disasters.
Was Carr a tough in and under player? They are usually more successful coaches
He was more of a dodgem Carr than a rally Carr. Was Carr a tough in and under player? They are usually more successful coaches
I’m not sure about our midfield mate as I rank Cotchin our third best mid behind TT and Bolton. All the rest are plodders. With a healthy list and and another preseason into the younger players and a favorable draw we are well and truly still in contention imo.
We have a strong and talented midfield and an established defence and good ruck depth
KPF is the only spot we are shallow in but who knows what Bauer , Ryan , Bradtke can produce in 2024
Prestia , Hopper & Dusty plodders really ?I’m not sure about our midfield mate as I rank Cotchin our third best mid behind TT and Bolton. All the rest are plodders.
Bauer , Ryan and Bradtke are all low probability chances of making it and it sounds harsh , but we need to be realistic.
Im putting my money on Brown, Gibcus, Young, MRJ, Sonsie, Banks , Cumberland and Trezise well before those blokes. Our midfield is a massive concern to me and even greater than our FL.

SnapPrestia , Hopper & Dusty plodders really ?
Then we have Baker & Short that can also play on the outside
The fowards are really our weak link and the young guys are a long shot but we just need the 2nd foward to kick 1-1.3 goals a game
I have more confidence in our midfield next year
Sorry Kiwi but someone has to share the love here, misinformation or not you read it Sport is like RFC as one day looks like world beaters than struggle against no hoppers. EG Loved the NZ girl's first game. then they did what they did against the Philippines. Hope you are doing ok we don't hear from you much. As for me, one day is worse than the other but I'll still keep fighting. You two love scurrilous misinformation.

Prestia and Dusty are just about done . Hopper is treacle with average skills, but needed . Short isn’t a midfielders areshole.Prestia , Hopper & Dusty plodders really ?

Yes, but bc of age it puts him also out of the equation with the blokes you’ve mentioned. Not really a midfield I would like to come into being a coach. God those Hawks with no names made it look pretty ordinary for three quarters.Cotchin ahead of Prestia? Hopper? Martin?
Andy Collins is the one that’s never been tried. Newman has had success. Ayres went from AFL good record to VFL success.what about VFL coaches that have had success? i mean after all Mcrae was our VFL coach
Shoplifted pitch forksPort fans would stom Alberton with pitch forks if that happens

Im not convinced he will make the move to MelbourneCarr seems to be a spoilt little brat to me reading up his history. Likes to pick and choose what to do without any consideration for the club or others. I would prefer mini over him. This is his second stint at Port so he’s no saviour. I hope the RFC go further than just these two blokes.

Exactly why he said no . ..the port job is his its a succession plan silently in placeIm not convinced he will make the move to Melbourne
Only worked in SA and WA and only moved back to SA relatively recently
Given his age it’s not a stretch to say he has a young family and another move interstate and to one that none of them have ever lived in might be a spanner in the works
He’s baaaaaaack , you’re bang on . Yea some how it’s eclipsed being schooled thru a triple premiership dynasty , same one as McRae and Kingsley , I love the bs state league feature in the CV , we may as well interview flea and David Rhys jones tooWhat suceesful era has Carr been part of the coaching panel ?
The success of AFL sides he has been at whilst coaching has been quite ordinary , this year by far the best.
Is being a ex port Adelaide little on field grub now a pre requisite for the Richmond coaching job ?
Yep would be his last preference , I’m still seeing min one WA club severs ties with coach and that’s where he landsIm not convinced he will make the move to Melbourne

Never mind next season , I’m curious how they go in the finals . You never know with a coach how they go until how they go . The great unknown is how successfully they can engage with the group and take them on a journey ,,I’ve listened to prez and impressed we are in good hands for a qty decision to be made.To tell you the truth I’m not sold on either of minibus or Carr. Port has this thing where they get close and then drop off again, so I’m curious what will happen to them next season. I rate our list better than theirs long term, but we need to find that coach who can unite and develop it to where it needs to be. Do we play safe with minibus for two years or risk getting some new expert. The expert being X an unknown quantity and Spurt a drip under pressure?..
