The thing is I have no doubt Mini will go to another club let’s say he went to the dogs after bevo gets the flick. He would have an immediate impact.

Our game plan and system based football is genius. Our problem is that the current players that have won it all won’t push in they way the game plan needs.

Hence why in 2021 and 2022 I wanted us to trade out some of the elite players for picks and rebuild with fresh stars. I was put on a cross for that by most of the snipers on this board
we arent playing with the freedom or flare we did back when we won those premierships - watch a replay of those games in the finals and compare it to the good games we played this year and its chalk and cheese apart.

the so called system is what has destroyed us - players arent playing with the freedom anymore for fear of being dropped.

look at cumberland looked lost at times wandering he should be handing off or having a shot. Miller did this several times this year too.

Secret meeting in Richmond’s senior coaching hunt revealed
Richmond’s coaching hunt looks to have a clear frontrunner after a secret meeting between club powerbrokers and a candidate was exposed

.Richmond’s hunt for a new senior coach looks to be heading down a certain path after a meeting between a leading candidate and club powerbrokers.

The meeting between Tigers chief Brendon Gale and Adem Yze took place on Tuesday and was exposed by Channel 7’s Mitch Cleary.

In what was a three-hour long meeting, the current Melbourne assistant coach has now firmed to take over the senior coaching role vacated mid-season by Damien Hardwick.

Andrew McQualter took over as the interim coach after Hardwick departed in May and has been locked in the race for the full time job alongside Yze.

He finished the season with seven wins and six losses as Richmond finished the 2023 season in 13th place on the ladder.

Yze has narrowly missed out on two senior coaching roles after being touted as a leading candidate.

Adam Kinglsey pipped him to claim the role as the GWS Giants coach, while Brad Scott edged him out to become the coach of Essendon.

Despite those misses the former Melbourne superstar is upbeat about his chances this time around.

“It was a good meeting,” Yze told Channel 7.

“I’m not sure how it’s going to go. (I) can’t comment too much. They’ve got some decisions to make (but) it was good fun.

“I feel like I’ve presented really well so hopefully that’s enough and we’ll see how we go.”

In what was a shock appearance, Nathan Buckley was sighted at the meetings alongside Gale and former Tigers captain Trent Cotchin.

The Tigers chief said the coaching search was progressing well and believes the new man will invigorate the club for the years ahead.

“It’s a very exciting process and one that’ll be re-energising (for the club),” Gale said.

Richmond was reportedly left unimpressed with Hardwick over comments he made after being unveiled as the new Gold Coast Suns coach.

The 51-year-old signed a mammoth six-year deal with the Suns after his shock decision to quit the Tigers after sighting he was burnt out.

Veteran journalist Caroline Wilson stated Richmond figures believed he went too far with a comment about his new playing group.

“Damien Hardwick will always be a Richmond hero,” Wilson said on Channel 9’s Footy Classified.

“Now the dust has settled on that extraordinary time line between quitting Tigerland — burnt out at the end of May — to turning up as a rejuvenated and regenerated man in Gold Coast red at the end of August, some of Hardwick’s recent behaviour has not sat well with Richmond people.”

She said the three-time premiership coach’s comment about his new players “was too much for some Tigers”.

Essendon legend and Footy Classified panellist Matthew Lloyd said he was fine with the “new toys” comment because it was a way of Hardwick selling himself to his new players.

However, Wilson responded: “New toys? Nup. It’s a way of talking about your old toys like a bit of cattle”.

She went on to say: “Disrespectful Damien and you didn’t rule out having a crack at Dusty (Martin) either. Surely you owe the Tigers more than that after they released you pretty generously one and a half years early from a lucrative contract.

“I think Richmond should remain a no-go zone to you Damien and with all that Gold Coast gift-wrapped talent to open you wouldn’t want to to be waking up on Boxing Day with a hangover.”

Yappie in strife.

The problem is the secret is already out, Collingwood & GWS are already playing a variation of our game style, Gold Coast will do the same, we need to think past that and change/tweak our style again, so it beats those teams currently in a purple patch.

We shouldn't be keeping a guy as a coach because he knows our process. You have to come up with a new way and be the next best system, that's how you get ahead of the comp.
No AFL side followed the Scatters and/or their IP/strategies after their GF win...
No AFL side followed the platters and/or their IP/strategies after their GF win...
Or for that matter the Doggies and/or their IP/strategies after their 2016 GF win...
Must tell you something about the Dimma/Richmond way...
Spesh when three other sides are playing a variation of it and two of them are still involved in the current Finals race with ex-Richmond personnel as their Coaches!
You don't throw the baby out with the bathwater...nor waste time, money, resources and recruitment strategies reinventing the wheel when its currently working!
The new way could be as simple as modifying and refining the winning Dimma/Richmond IP...with constant smart tweaks and refinements...

Never said to throw the game plan out, I said you need to tweak it so its better than what the other sides are doing right now.

Keeping a coach because your worried other teams are going to steal that game style is silly, the game style is already out there.
