At this early stage and not knowing anything, I'm impressed with Yze. He's the one credited with developing melbournes structures bit like how caracella was lauded with ours early on. Other than that, I have nfi and trust that Gale, Balme and co will make the right choice
Doesn't Yze keep missing out?

need to get the band back together. Chris Newman head coach, Troy Chaplin and Shaun Grigg as assistants, reece conca as chief cuddle officer

Does it need to be someone from the AFL system? Do they need to have an AFL background? Does it need to be a white male in his mid to late 40’s?

Could this club be progressive enough to think outside the box and find a figurehead rather than the same old ideas and strategies…? Does the selection process of coaching an AFL club need to be so narrow minded and parochial in its approach to finding the best sporting mind in the country.

Is an AFL coach much more than just a manager of people and developer of culture and relationships? Crossing codes or sports isn’t new.

The biggest sporting club in Australia, with the most savage fanbase is going to chew up and spit out mediocre newbie who hasn’t got any shields. As good as Hardwick has been he has had probably three of the best shields in the game. Peggy O’Neil , Bredan Gale and Neil Balme…

I would love to see this club think laterally and not just down the same old lines and paths that percentages that brings the same results.

Change the game again…

Can’t remember her name but didn’t one of the high profile AFLW coaches get very close to one of the high profile jobs that were open last year?

As long as the process is robust and we pick the right person for the job I don’t care who they are

I wonder why Leppitsch is high on the preference? No doubt he has been a very good assistant coach for us, however when he was the senior coach for Brisbane it was a step too far for his capabilities and wasn't that great.

It's kind of funny how there are some people who say "I don't want Buckley. He wasn't a good coach but in the same breath say they want Leppitsch."

Buckley got Collingwood to the Grand Final and multiple prelims. Only had probably two really bad years in his 11 years coaching. Leppitsch had 3 seasons with a 21% winning percentage.

You basically need to be a sports psychologist, and the assitants can do the football coaching. You don't neccessarily need to even be an ex-player.

I rate Buckley as a strategic coach but I do have reservations on his ability to manage people and players

A lot of the issues surrounding indigenous players occurred directly under his watch and some of the handling of guys like Treloar and Grundy was downright shit house

(Telling them the players didn’t want them at the club for Treloar is the big known example)
