Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Even if it is, one of them is the PP at 20.

Which is conceivably Pick 25-28 depending on FA results.

Even their current pick 10 could be 14 or 15.

Pick 14 and 27 doesn’t sound as good for headlines.
They have three firsts, currently 8, 10 and 20. Trading out either of those early ones would significantly reduce their options, especially when they have an academy kid likely to fall late in the top ten and we don't even know how bid matching is going to work this year yet.

Na. Just popped in to have a laugh at your fantasies. Two firsts for Dan Rioli. Even you have it admit that is pretty funny.
It's never going to be confirmed this early in the piece, but a bit risky calling a widely reported rumour 'fantasies'. I hope it comes back to bite you and comes to fruition, but we'll see.

Still grateful to your mob for enabling us to get Tom Brown.

And you have one of our mob leading your recruiting now. Hope Thursfield does a good job for ya

Is Graham (gone), Baker (gone), Bolton, Rioli and Martin (gone) are all leaving Richmond, then surely there is zero point in keeping Tom Lynch?

Melbourne will definitely have a look. Even Geelong.

We have to keep some leaders. Wouldn't surprise if someone backed their fitness guy to be better than our bloke who isn't fit to be the janitor at a fitness first.

Will be interesting to see how much is noise and how much is signal. Would wager not all of those players will leave

Perhaps, but whether we let him go is another thing altogether
Can't see us keeping a guy if he doesn't want to be there on the assumption Freo come to the party with all theirs firsts, rights to their NGAs for 2 years, Pavs first born and a lock of Fyfes hair.

The problem is he is owed a lot of money in his final year and he has been injured a lot this year.

I agree, it would be seen in hindsight as a master stroke trade if he goes to a Melbourne or Collingwood who really need a key forward and it works out.

But no one is going to pay him that money unless Richmond pay a decent part of it( which is not a problem since everyone is leaving) but we would obviously need draft picks ( we aren’t Collingwood, we don’t pay other team’s players for nothing).

Would a team be willing to risk draft picks for an aging and injury prone guy in his 30s ?

Rioli + 36, 39, 54 to GC for picks 6,11
Bolton & Baker to Fremantle for picks 7,12,16 future 2nd
Graham Band 3 comp = pick 22

That’s a draft hand of picks- 1,6,7,11,12,16,21,22 plus 41,57 to use as a points accumulator for Blues or Lions? Throw in whatever compensation tigers get for Dusty leaving. Possibly a pick in the 40’s

6 first round picks + the first two picks of the second round is a wild amount to invest in one draft.

Melbourne maybe if they think they're a flag shot in 2025, but in terms of KPF we'd be looking longer term for a Cameron replacement.

Lynch at 32-33 who can't even get on the park ain't it.

In trade for who?

If all those others are going, the tigers will have a lot of quality picks already.

If they were to trade out anyone else, it'd have to be for quality younger (under 25?) players coming in. (nb. Quality, not quantity. With all those picks, they'll have more than enough turnover already).

Mind you, they'd also have a significant salary cap hole that needs filling, so they could be on the hunt for some quality inbound trades even without further exits.

They'd also have a considerable salary cap shortfall that needs to be filled.

Sure, they can frontload some contracts to get around that in the short term, but they have the cap and picks to land some quality players.

Can also offer to pay portions of outgoing players contracts to better the return in trade potentially.

Only for contracted players, so that's really just (potentially) Bolton at this stage.

If Freo want him and Baker, they might face a cap squeeze to sign them both, but they'd also likely be paying all 3 of their 1sts already, so another $200K wont improve that much (maybe they'd throw in a F3?). If they miss Baker, they wont need that extra coin.
