Richmond open at $5.75 v Pies

I think Tiges are more than a flukers chance this week.

They weren't too bad against Geelong - a team that over the years has given them hell. In fact they won clearances. Had Bowden not coughed up the ball at critical times last week margin wouldn't have been so severe

PIes I think are really struggling. Totally exposed by Brisbane and then a very questionable win over Carlton.

Reckon this game will be huge for Wallace - if tiges can come away with the points on national tv no less can give fans hope over the summer.

Of course shouldn't be favourites but if I was a Collingwood fan I would have some unease going into this week

I agree with the West Coast supporter. A speculative bet on the Tigers at < 39.5 would not be wasted as that is well over the odds.

Is just our board that attracts the mindless n00bs or do other boards have to put up with it as well?

No you are not alone...
I would not think the Pies will be complacent this week...
The media had the Brisbane game as a 93% certainty the Pies would win and we got flogged.
The media had the Carlton game as a 93% certainty the Pies would win and we just got over the top of a tough side.
I really don't think any side can be taken for granted nor do I believe any team can afford to tick off wins until the final siren.

The $5.75 however is damn good odds if your boys can pull off a win and god knows Richmond have upset the Pies apple cart more than once late in the season in years gone by....throw caution to the wind...put a hungie on em and see how you go. I would in the same position.

You should then, if the Pies get rolled like they should, you'll come out with nearly $600, if the Pies win well you've lost $100 but your teams won??

Hmm interesting concept betting to lose.
Could this be the answer you all seek?
Does Matty Richardson have a Tab Account?

At that price I'd have a little go. I expect to lose since we are shithouse poor but the Pies always are only one panic attack away from meltdown against us and frankly I think it is the only game we can win this season. Early on we were ahead in the first game this season before spunking it away as usual. it's a good bet.

lets just say, we have 1 game leeway and right now with all the flak flying at tigerland, re. TW etc. Cant think of a better way to keep the wolves from the door than to beat the arch enemy at the G on a Friday night, with the C7 cameras there and then go back into hibernation for the draft pick. Not saying we are going to win, just that we are not without a half decent chance in this one. Stay tuned.
P.S to 1980, this is the difference between being a ludicrously delusional tiger head that goes around talking in dreams and a realist dude. ;)

After seeing the Blues tank last week, its delusional to think we should go out and beat the Pies.

We win one more game and everyone says we had a good year?

The season is a write off, we should take our medicine and look forward to a priority draft pick.

yeah we win one game and we are still last half a game back. This one is the one that i am tipping TW is looking at to spend the 1 game we have up our sleeve. No one will say we had a good year.
Problem is that what he wants and what he gets from the usual suspects can be 2 different things.
I am thinking that we are now in the midst of a battle between a senior group under the pump trying to save their asses, by playing dead, so the torch is put to the coach, in an effort to get rid of him, before he gets rid of them. ;)

I dont think its a conspiracy. i just dont think the senior players can do any better no matter how much they are motivated by threats or otherwise.

And I dont think anything wallace does will change that. Its not like he wanted to lose last week. He even pulled a clever idea by having Thomas address the players before the game.

Nothing works with these senior guys they are just scared little people, and Wallace is at fault for taking too long to recognise that.

gotta feeling he is at fault, but also gotta feeling he is pretty brave in leaving them in there. Lets face it, have said forever, he must see what we see, now why would he stick with the same old same old? Why? so he then has the tiger heads all over him like a rash? Nope, i am convinced that what we have now is what was in the plan. We have to get through it, with him at the helm after we do. He doesnt opt for knee jerk reactions to supporters and media. He is commited to the blue print. Yeah the spin shits me too, but what does he do? Not spin? if he didnt then we have a spud.
He wont walk, if he does then he is in footy wilderness land. Yep, you might then say, he might want to and is using the tiger mentality to his advantage. Who knows...the one thing for me is that we see out his 5 years, and then see where we are at. Its only 2 years more, and if we need to change it up, then we change it...as long as we start from a better position than he started from. That is how you get a rebuild. You dont get it by getting rid of the builder before he has finished his part of the process. ;)

you know what is really embarrassing?

Can u believe there is a thread on the Richmond site saying they wil beat us this week. I suggest every Collingwood person here go onto their board and put in their two cents worth to shut these morons up.
Especially have a look at my posts I think they are some of the funniest things ever written.

So I came to read the "funniest things ever written" *sigh* Sorry guys and gals this poster is an unfunnny dill...

He's smart enough to make sure that we peak in the 5th year of his contract.

Blooding kids like King and Edwards this year, improvement from them next year, leading up to a strong season in 2009.

Once Sheedy signs on with another club, a lot of people on here may go back to seeing sense in that tanking this year was a good decision.

dont forget one important line he has been spinning from day one. He wants to see who wants in on the ride. Now after that, he got rid of Gas, who didnt want in on the ride. got rid of AK who would go through a brick wall for the tigers, so he wanted in, but he couldnt cut it according to TW, and now we sit and watch a bunch of senior players, doing what they are doing.
Now apart from Richo, Browny and a hurting Newman on Saturday, who of the senior group, outside Simmo too, did you see that "wanted in" on the ride?
I saw 0. Now if i saw, you saw it, Carey saw it, the whole planet saw it, surely TW was watching the game too. ;)

We've never said we'll beat the Pies, just that they're worth a punt at $5.75

What a ********

As a Pies supporter, and someone who'll be at the game, I would recommend any Richmond supporters considering taking a punt on this game to do so. I wouldnt go $100-$200 like the OP is suggesting, but $20 or so could be a nice return with little risk whatsoever.

Fact is, I expect to lose this one. Collingwood hasn't even really been 'hot and cold' recently... we've just been cold. I'm amazed we didn't get smashed by Geelong, but that was the best game we've played (along with us V Bulldogs, which we also lost) in this half of the season. We definately won't thrash you guys, and I will not be surprised AT ALL if we lose.

And as the OP said... Brownie always carves it up against us. It's almost comical watching on while he runs circles around the Collingwood players and kicks goals or delivers into the 50. Well it would be comical... if I wasn't crying in the stands at the time.

So yeah... go for it. Just some friendly advice.

Nic thoughts Scruff, but I still we'll get torn a new one. We have been uncompetitive since the Hawks game and our defence has leaked goals at an alarming rate.
If I were you, I'd see it as a great chance for Rocca to run into some form.

You obviously don't have much of a sense of humour.
I wasn't being serious. Only trying to fire up some people into getting a reaction. Looks like I succeeded
