Collingwood is coached well in close games. As a result, they believe they can do it and then do it. Richmond is not coached well in close games. As a result, they do not believe they can do it and then don’t do it. Our conservative ball movement and panicking in the last quarter against Gold Coast says a lot. That’s not the way a side that believes they can still win plays. Compare that with Collingwood’s ball movement in the last quarter against Adelaide. That’s a side that believes they can still win the game.

As you said, Collingwood may not be as good as their list suggests and Richmond may not be as bad, but belief and confidence (or lack thereof) makes a huge difference. It’s now up to Hardwick to increase our confidence levels to the level that Collingwood is currently at. He can start with coaching them better in close games.
here here. and he can also start with getting assistants that know thier job. the present crop are clearly failing. we know hardwich hasnt got the smarts tactially. he needs specifics around him. benny and peggy knew that. its time for the club to re think hardwick or start again.

i quit my richmond membership that day, took next year off my nephew worked at toyota and he got free afl membership, { i was able to go to a few games for free in 2012 ] started afl membership with richmond supporter package in 2013 best decision ever

Potentially, but WCE is kinda like VFL quality and it would be good prep for the cats the following week. If we still think finals are a chance than we need to play the best side available.
I don't think an underdone Graham is best 22 especially as you say against and underdone WC. Let him get some ball in the VFL and come in with a game and some footy under his belt.

In 2017 our premiership window started to creak open when we unexpectedly beat West Coast at the G with some manic fast paced footy and some dnaiel rioli brilliance.

I think this Saturday, our window will officially shut. And there's no shame in that.

We’ve played 1 bad game and a couple of bad qtrs. Form line can be deceiving. Our best as displayed in patches against Pies Swans Dogs Demons where we have strung goals together is as good as anyone has shown this year. Bring the heat and rip them apart with our best footy we win easy.

in good humour a few on here are wearing these,i believe that the players play directly off the way the coach holds himself and the coaching groups state of mind and more specifically that of theyre coach, everything is a mirror, how you conduct yourselves on the field is a mirror, the players at the moment have it wrong because the directors have it wrong, regardless of whom is out there ,afterall it takes a team to function, are we functioning ? hmmm,id say at 65% or there abouts, not nearly enuff to challenge, not even close

I’ll add to that. What I don’t want to see is us establish a 5 or 6 goal lead and then go to sleep. We’ve seen it plenty of times in recent years: we switch off, they bang on 3 or 4 quick ones and suddenly they’re up and about and we’re battling to stop the momentum.

Hoping like hell we don’t see that.

From 2017-20 we were the best team with a lead bar none. Once we got in front we were never headed. There was some crazy stat in late 2020 that Richmond had won 50 games in a row when leading at 3/4 time.

That has totally flipped from 2021. We are the worst team holding a lead I’ve ever seen. I always comment : ‘we’ve just got to a handy lead …. now I’m worried’ …. even this season - handy lead against Crows, then gone. Handy lead against Dogs, then gone. Handy lead against Demons, then gone.

And it happened about 10 times in 2021.

It’s like we think the jobs done. Or we mentally expect the other team to come back and just let it happen. If we could just mentally ‘pretend’ were were 20-points down at all times we’d be world beaters. Unfortunately teams know we will let them back in so they grow an extra leg when they get behind - you just know the oppo coaches message at breaks “we are behind but we know the Tigers will let you back into the game and gift some easy goals if we apply pressure”.

So IMO we need to be doing a lot more mental training than anything else.

Under done Graham played Rd 1 and went okay.
Under done Graham is best 22.
The Prestia rest is interesting. Be interested to know if he's been carrying something.
New midfield plus Prestia hasn't been winning us games this year.
It's more important to look at Dow this week. See if he can play in the AFL at all.

Dimma said Jack Graham is 'absolutely' ready to return this week.

We will win and that always papers over cracks for a coach/club under fire.

Then Geelong will destroy us next Friday night.

You know what, I'd still take it because we need to get off the bottom part of the ladder now that we dont have a 1st round pick.
