I dunno what port have done to the poor guy - on behalf of the eagles if you are reading this - we would welcome you home.

Up the fkxn coasters
You're correct
All they knew was that he was a premiership player being offered a 5 year $600k contract.

If 2019 draw was flipped? Then Rance plays the whole season, does his ACL against Carlton in rd 23.

So we probably win more games, but question mark for finals.
Ummm no, Rance still does his ACL in round 1, only he does it against Brisbane and not Carlton.

Flipping the season only involves who you play, not what happened in those games.

And screamed from the rooftops over traveling to Geelong, yes like that
The issue of playing at Geelong in 2017 had nothing to do with 'travelling. Geelong is barely over an hour drive from the Melbourne CBD.

The reason it was an issue is because the game was going to draw a lot more interest that expected when t hat fixture was released do a much bigger crowd was anticipated. Richmond asked Geelong and the AFL if they would consider moving the match to t he MCG due to the bigger capacity and they declined. Admittedly Richmond were only trying to look after it's own supporters because it would be impossible for the Geelong ground to accomodate all the Richmond supporters who would want to go to that match.

The issue was a crowd capacity issue rather than a 'travel' issue.

Be fair

Theres not a single team would choose to play geelong at kp if they could play them at home.

1 win can and often is the difference between top 4 or top 8

And their home record is intimidating.

Richmond lost that game and still finished top 4.

Despite Geelong record at their home ground and even if it was an underlying reason, the issue had nothing to do with 'travel'. As mentioned, it is only a hour drive from the Melbourne CBD.

Bloody oath it is.

I've said for a while, the team with the biggest overall advantage in the league is Geelong, at least as far as QUALIFYING for finals.

They basically lock opposition supporters out at KP, so it's an "interstate style" home crowd of one sidedness. They will, I believe, eventually get all 11 home games there. (Rightfully)

On top of that, they also only travel as much as other Vic teams.

It's certainly a unique situation.

Why would anyone start a thread about Richmond’s tough start to the year? Everyone would just look at your fixture as a whole and laugh you off the site

Can you remember all of the commotion and carry on by Richmond supporters over playing that game in 2017? They were borderline ready to riot over it. Imagine the uproar if Richmond had to get on a plane a few times in the lead up to September! Gill would probably get strung up

Yep taking thevtigers 2019 premiership well I see .

This is actually a myth created by Geelong supporters trying to justify at what a pack of sooks they were about the qualifying final.
The truth is Richmond pointed out that they played more in Geelong this century than Carlton, Essendon, Collingwood and Hawthorn combined.
They mentioned this fact then got on with it. We didn't actually hear anything more about from the club. Some posters Big Footy mentioned the same fact, but it blew over in a couple of days.
Some Richmond supporters were pi**ed off because you could only buy single tickets, So if you wanted to go with family or friends, you couldn't sit together. Pathetic, spoilt brat behaviour by Geelong. The thing with Geelong is, no matter what the AFL gives them, like spoilt brats, they'll still whinge infernally for more.
Their ground is obviously not AFL standard (it's not eve amateur standard). No professional football should be played there at all. The only reason it is is because the AFL think if they give Geelong everything they ask for, they'll finally stop their infernal whinging. Some irresponsible parents behave the same way about their spoilt children. Rewarding bad behaviour doesn't prevent it, it reinforces it. That's why Geelong have become infamous as the biggest whingers of any sport in Australian history.

Do some West Coast supporters really want to emulate that?
Your ceo came out halfway through the season, after winning a few games and publicly endorsed a proposal to change the fixture on the hop and take Geelongs home game off them so his club could benefit from it

Your CEO came out and pushed it

Not just a few posters on an Internet forum, or a few callers to SEN, the head of your organisation

It was the biggest, most entitled whinge of the season

Then approaching Geelongs home game Richmond fans went nuclear all over the place actually believing they deserved to play an away game on their home ground. Not a final, a regular season fixture you thought you had claims over

I d say Richmond wouldn't care where we play them. Anyone anywhere anytime.

Coaches say that - because thats their job.

When we are discussing footy from an analytical viewpoint no, no way, f%^* off would you want to play them at kp.

Bottom line is, most Tiger supporters would've much preferred the Round 17-23 games at the MCG - including the top 4 at the time GWS, Collingwood, West Coast and Brisbane as opponents - as our first 7 games of the season, and happily shifted Rounds 1-7 with only two opponents (Collingwood and GWS) in the top 8 at the time as our run-in to the finals, no matter where they're played. If anything, the peculiar R17-23 fixture could've easily become a major disadvantage if we weren't playing at our optimal level. Having only 4 home games (including three against co-tennants) during Rounds 3-16 could've also terminated any team's premiership chances.

I don’t understand why it’s the Eagles fans that are so salty over this?
It’s as if we beat you by a point in the Gf due to you travelling.
You didn’t even make the top 4 and got rolled at home by a side you should have crushed to confirm it.
Its as if home ground advantage and avoiding an interstate flight is paramount to winning......nah, just ask the Hawks.

Can you not talk about the reigning premiership CEO in that tone please

They couldn't beat Hawks at home when they needed to. They'd have been no chance in finals against Tigers, Cats, Lions or Giants when it mattered in a PF, SF or GF the way it was going.

Yet by reading this thread and the common supporters posting you'd think our end of season run was the difference between the Eagles winning the flag or not.

Gee imagine a CEO coming out and advocating for the fans, who would have thought. An extra 40,000 fans would have been there at the MCG possibly. That is big money and also good for Richmond supporters. And yes obviously beneficial to Richmond.

Lol no he didn't.
That was all just light hearted banter mostly by the media trying to make a story to enrage all the sheep out there. They didn't want for or believe that game would actually be moved, they just suggested it wasn't ideal and that big games should be fixtured at the G.

www.sportingnews.com/au/amp/afl/news/cats-say-they-wont-move-tigers-game-to-the-mcg-afl-richmond-geelong-simonds-stadium/1lcx3abupv4bu11ljegriknkjz

Richmond on the other hand are all for the idea and CEO Brendon Gale was happy to stir the pot.

"We are one of three clubs with 70,000 plus members and, unfortunately, some fans will miss out when we play later in the year and that is never ideal," Gale said.

“We do think that in the interests of maximising crowds our games against Geelong should always be played at a larger stadium."
