Melbourne’s Ricky Petterd wins Round 6 NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination
Ricky Petterd from the Melbourne Football Club is the Round Five NAB AFL Rising Star nominee.
The 18-year-old’s pace and versatility has seen him named in Melbourne’s best in his first two AFL matches. He has averaged 22 possessions playing across half-back.
Ricky’s opponents last weekend included exciting Port Adelaide youngster Nathan Krakouer and 2006 NAB AFL Rising Star Danyle Pearce.
Ricky was Melbourne’s second selection (30th overall) in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft.
He was named Queensland’s most valuable player, won the Harrison Medal (best and fairest division two) and received All-Australian honours after an outstanding NAB AFL Under 18 Championships last year. Queensland's vice-captain averaged 24 possessions playing in defence.
Born in Hobart, Ricky played junior football for the Broadbeach Cats on the Gold Coast. He was one of 11 Queenslanders to be drafted last year.
Ricky was a member of the 2005 AIS-AFL Academy Squad.
