Who else thinks Riewoldts mark against Sydney should have been mark of the year. Anyone can jump up on someones back (like sampi) but not everyone has the courage to take a mark running with the flight of the ball at full pace with no regard to saftey.
No disrespect to sampi, it was a good mark but thats all

Yup - dime a dozen.

This has been done to death, get over it FFS.

the only thing i disliked about sampi's mark was how casual he was. but it wasn't mark waugh casual, it was unenthused casual. perhaps a spectacular landing would have made it a true classic.

after all, 50% of the mark is coming back down.

bad choice of words mate, usually the most spectacular mark wins the mark of the year, and you wont see many more spectacular than sampis.

He shouldn't lose points for landing perfectly and making it look easy.

but his attitude towards the mark was just so-so, unexcited, like it was any other mark

its mark of the year and has to be treated with some respect, especially by the guy who takes it

WTF???

What is he meant to do after he takes it, run around like a headless chook and start hugging all his team mates?

no, in the post match interview, he could at least acknowledge what a good mark it was rather than play it down

if the player who takes the grab doesn't think its mark of the year, why should a panel tell him it is?

What a most peculiar way to judge a mark, how the person who took it, talks about it after the event.

PS - Sampi is 21 this year.
