Ogilvie called Thilthorpe the best South Australian player over the last three years.

That would put him ahead of all the SA talent (Luko, Rankine, Rozee) in the 2018 draft in his eyes
Huge statement, given those three guys have the runs on the board already. Given Rozee is unattainable.

We need to go hard for Luko or Rankine. If I had to pick one, I would still take Rankine to compliment our team.

Looked at his highlights again, that smooth silky pass through the corridor at 1.18 and the way he receives a handball receive at 1.48 and goals, are NOT attributes of most ruckmen.

Im used to seeing awkard kicks off the boot and there is at most and only two ruckmen (NicNat and Grundy) I would handball to in a chain to setup a goal for them to run into.

That Unofficial rule of not hand balling to an immobile ruckman does not apply here.

The beauty of this kid, is that he is a project in the making, there is no rush or urgency. We are a bottom 4 side in 2021, we have time to guide him and develop at his pace, be it fast or slow.

You also forgot to mention that the beautiful pass at 1.18 is actually off his left foot, when he a right footed player.

I hope we see him as a key forward and let ROB retain most of the rucking duties outside of the FWD 50. ROB is fit enough to ruck 90% of the day but offers no value anywhere forward of 50, though he is an EXCELLENT intercept mark when the opposition try to bomb it out of their 50.

Not having to run into F50 or take those rucking contests would be more than enough rest for ROB with his elite fitness base.

Thanks.

Took the mark, played on and had pressure from a player near him to nail the corridor kick.

Thats game awareness. Thats something you cant really drill into a player, some players do this instinctively. Some struggle.

Ignoring its an u18 game, the fact is that in the AFL, these scenarios play out all the time. Its portable and transferable skill set that he has that he can apply in the AFL very easily.

ROB should be playing as that spare player in the defensive arc when the ball goes forward, waiting for a high rebound kick, especially from kick ins.

I'm sure that must be our plan - it would be a waste to spend our best ever pick on a ruckman when we already have a perfectly good one who can fill that role for the next 5 years. Although Thilthorpe does provide some ruck insurance if ROB gets injured, because without him our ruck stocks are pretty thin.

What’s the concern from those who didn’t want him? He appears to move incredibly well for a big man, takes good contested marks and his field kicking also appears to be well above most players of his height. What are his weaknesses?

I was on the McDonald/Hollands bandwagon, but **** me he looks good. Crazy athleticism and skills at 200cm. Keeeeeeen.

I would have been happy for any of them TBH. So its a win for me, more so because he is South Aussie too.

That run on goal against Sturt in the first couple of minutes was elite for a big man! although I initially wanted Hollands I am stoked we have this lad on our list!

Hollands may be good and even better, but I do know we would have been waiting and expecting so much for kid coming off an ACL with Pick 1, as opposed to a Lever.

Still I would have been happy with Hollands, but I know that I would have to be patient with him and it would be the long game, before we saw any real development from him.

Welcome Thrillo.

This needs to happen

Also infinity for someone

Roman numerals

Numbers in writing eg "two"

Numbers with decimal points

Fractions

Emojis

Why be constrained by the boring old metrics?

Thilthorpe is to Hollands as Franklin was to Tambling

(hopefully)
Tiger fans poorly tore Tambling apart. That kid had no chance. It was pretty savage the treatment he got from them.

i'm tempted to buy an eight and whack it on sideways
On the front so it looks like boobs

Actually we should put our numbers on the front too. Really mess with the status quo

I'm rapt with Thilthorpe but most people's concern seems to be more about our workmanlike, skill-free, slow, constantly reamed midfield and our Pick 1 choice hasn't addressed this. Not about Thilthorpe himself

I would have loved to address this with pick 1. In reality we only had Hollands as that option and that comes with a decent amount of risk. If someone like Horne was available and knee injury free I'd be pretty disappointed in selecting a tall.

Wasn't a great draft for this unfortunately. I'm hoping try and grab a couple of first rounders for next year's draft to address this.

But you can only pick what is there. Hollands and Phillips are not quick by any means. We added some grunt and over the next couple of years it will be about skills, polish and pace.
