No one's saying every player is tainted but you have to take a long term view. Trying to be significantly better next year will hinder the rebuild. You need to cut out some dead wood and we have way too many players in the 27+ age bracket who will either be retired or on their last legs next we challenge, you need to take a broom to that group for the good of the club. We won't challenge for a flag with dads army. You don’t get better by losing your best players. Just because we only won two games this year doesn’t mean every player on the list is tainted and doesn’t have something to offer going forward.
Mores the point we won't use pick 51, it's worthless to us.
We don't have to take a token offer from Port and they are dumb if they think that's what will get the deal done.
We won't get a pick in the 20's imo, Rioli has tainted his character too much. We are looking at 30 + at best I'm afraidRioli going hurts a bit but not the end of the world. He is more the icing on the cake and not the core and provided we get decent compensation, not overpaying means we do not prolong the salary cap problems and invest the pick into a rebuild.
What is he worth? I think a pick in the 20's is about right. Problem is Port do not have one. While Port think they can get Dunkley, they will not entertain giving up their first rounder.
A future second? I'd ask for more but probably accept it (maybe we get Port's F2 and F3 and give back a F4).
In 2023, our small/mid forwards include Cripps, Ryan, Waterman, Petruccelle and Langdon. In addition, we can play Shuey, Kelly, Redden and Sheed as half forwards plus Hough, Culley and XON. Also looking at being able to start our Pick 2 as HF is not a bad idea.
Others have mentioned it - do not let Port Ebert us.
Well said here hereExactly this. And there's no world where we need to "do the right thing" by Rioli by accepting unders.
Happy to let him him walk to North if Port try to lowball

Hasn't tainted it enough to stop Port throwing 4 years and good money at him. Port can say what they want, but their actions show they rate him pretty highly. We won't get a pick in the 20's imo, Rioli has tainted his character too much. We are looking at 30 + at best I'm afraid
Their offering 4 years because they are poorly run not because Rioli is that good. I think you will be crying your eyes out come trade timeIf it's anything less than a pick 20-32 I'll completely backflip and will subsequently join Thorne in crying.
Third rounder, future or otherwise is a joke. It's second at MINIMUM. If he's that "bad" those morons wouldn't be offering 4 years and extra coin.

26 is too old. You've been in the hayshed again. Is Tom Phillips worth a look in the pre season draft? Was good on the wing at the pies.
26 year old Gaff replacement. Might be better than some of the dead wood we have
Hough, Chesser,L edwards and if we went Tatas would certainly shut that down.
Wrong, I said they are offering 4 years because they are poorly run not for being keen on Rioli. Try to read someone's posts properly before responding. So they’re only super keen on Rioli because they’re poorly run, but apparently they’re too shrewd to offer up anything of value at the trade table.
Makes sense.
What a campaigner
Surely there's a threat the Crows would grab him in the PSD before he made it to Port?
Not that I see it happening, but Rioli, Rankine and Rachelle would be a very dangerous forward lineSurely there's a threat the Crows would grab him in the PSD before he made it to Port?

I'm and at the point of this being non negotiable at pick 20s or we let him go PSD. I really couldn't care less about the pick we get but more so the disrespect that's in play here.Mores the point we won't use pick 51, it's worthless to us.

What i understand is that you attempted to twist my words and I caught you out that's the point. I never said that Port Adelaide was poorly run for chasing Rioli so get your facts straight before you respond.Try to understand the point before going off the deep end.
Port are offering Rioli 4 years on big money. That indicates they rate him pretty highly. Regardless of whether you think it’s a good decision that a well run club would make, or a poor decision by a poor club.
If they value him highly, they should be expected to cough up for him at the trade table.
