Robinson deserved it first week, he was robbed then, he played better than Rich.
This week Zaha played better than him, it's that simple.
He will probably get it next week if he plays well.

If White gets similar numbers against 'real' opposition next week (in saying that Brisbane didn't make the finals last year and the Hawks were reigning premiers) does that give him more of a chance?

It was Robinson who put the ball down Fev's throat early in the fourth term and set up a goal.

Junk time is a game against Freo who let an Irish rookie notch up 20 touches...

The Fremantle game was a soft as your match against Port.

No intensity.

The garbage time argument applies to Zaharakis, not Robinson.

Robinson had a handful of hard won touches in the last quarter against a good side in a match that was a contest after half time. Robbo's touch, decision making and vision when he received a handball in the backline was first class. Robinson didn't go inboard and rush the kick to risk a turnover, but made the decision and hit Murphy on the wing by weighting a perfect pass over the head of Waite and a Brisbane player.

GUN.

Hird said Robinson has great vision and could play up the ground.

Zaharakis is a gun, yet you can't argue that he didn't receive his nomination because he was a higher draft pick. ;)

It's a raffle...

I can see why Carlton rated Robinson higher than Zaharakis.

Robinson is as hard as nails.

Zaharakis' best work was in the first half when the game was on the line. He won as much contested football as anyone else on the ground and helped set up a few goals, including a great run finished off with an excellent 35-40m pass running flat out.

Not knocking Robinson as he looks a decent player but you're talking through your hat re Zaharakis.

Rich is not that far ahead of masten at all. If i could choose one of them for the rest of the year i would choose masten actually.

Maybe not, but my feeling is that if a 2nd year player and a 1st year player are about equal, they should always give it to a 1st year player. Rich's disposals do look a lot more damaging though. If I could have one guy at Essendon, it would not be Masten (as good as he might be). In fact I rate Brown as your best chance to beat Rich imo.

Here are some champion data stats out of the trusty round 2 wind up from the Herald Sun.

David Zaharakis: 17 kicks, 4 handballs, 21 disposals, 67% efficiency, 10 marks (1 contested), 4 contested posession, 7 inside 50s, 2 clearances, 4 tackles, 2 assists, 87% time one ground, 516m gained.

NOTE: 9 possesions in the first quater to set up a nice 4 goal buffer ath the quater time siren is a good start,

Mitch Robinson: 13 kicks, 5 handballs, 18 disposals, 61% efficiency, 6 marks, 5 contested posessions, 7 inside 50s, 2 tackles, 458meters gained.

NOTE: 10 last quater possesions certainly helped, but went missing (0 touches) in the third quater which might have cost him dearly.

One last note, Chris Masten must certainly count himself terribly unlucky, 14 kicks, 9 handballs, 5 marks, 4 contested possesions, 5 inside 50s, 3 tackles, 1 goal 1, from only 65% time on ground, and also, 546meters gained.

Pretty handy from a player who only played just over two thirds of the game

Thats total crap. You have just been carrying a boner for Rich for ages. You practically cried when we took Hurley instead.
Why the hell should it matter if he is first or second year?
Rich may look the likely winner so far, but there is a hell of a lot of water to pass under the bridge yet.

agree, and by god did Masten play well when he had the pill, always cool under pressure. And pushes forward aswell, could turn into an A grade midfielder too, then BombersNo1 will be kicking himself when that happens cause we took Gumby over him.

Different drafts.

Gumby was taken the draft before.
Masten went no 3, we got Myers at 6 in the draft you are thinking of.

He will certainly get one at some stage. A lot of the focus during the start of the season is on the new draftees, but if he keeps playing well he will be nominated and I think has a good chance of winning.

Rich is a few months younger and has played more senior footy in the last year. Mastens decent by foot and getting back to his best, Rich never really lost that much touch, wonder how they comapre for meters gained so far?

Go for Zaharakis this week, he came in and dominated.

Masten will get one soon, as will most of the players mentioned, so it doesn't matter when it happens for me.

Also, Chris Masten got 2 brownlow votes against the Kangas last year in a losing team...when he had Osteitus Pubis.

Blantantly pumping my own player's tyres, I know, but this year people will see why we picked him at No. 3 in the draft:p

Masten has never had the hype of a Marc Murphy or Rhys Palmer but bloody hell, he does very little wrong and what he does do is very high quality as far as actual production goes.
