Rivalry Round Part Deux: S17 R18 - Fighting Furies vs Geelong Gumbies @ Punt Road Oval

So this is it – the last game of the season. Some teams are fighting for the double chance, some teams are fighting to make the finals, and some teams are already gloating their way to a minor Premiership while some teams cannot wait for this miserable season to be over.

With so much and also so little on the line, no doubt Rivalry Round Part II will be full of fireworks, mixed emotions, tears and perhaps a proposal or two…. So without further ado, this games write up.

LAST TIME THEY MET

The Gumbies took control early and lead by as much as 44 points before taking the foot off and coasting to a 14 point win.

Some massive games by the Gumbies including BoshtrichBurger (10 hit outs, 29 possessions and 2 goals), blaze036 (24 possessions, 13 marks), Tayl0r (27 possessions, 5 marks) and Bucketss who slotted a lazy 7 goals. For the Furies Truetiger battled hard with 28 touches and 13 marks, while Wacky Tiger (20 possessions, 3 goals) and tigland (6 goals, 5 points) tried to get their team back into the game.

WHAT THIS GAME MEANS

For the Finals bound Gumbies – a chance to ensure 2nd spot giving them a week’s rest and the vital second chance. For the Furies – a win sees them stay in 8th position, a loss and they potentially slip to 9th spot. The reigning Premiers will not go back to back.

PREDICTION

The Gumbies, with their very solid second of the season recruiting will unleash the new recruits to their full extent on their way to the finals and will win by 6 goals.

Turn it up you blokes, you get a close win over the Wonders and you suddenly think you're world beaters. Big deal, everyone beats that mob these days.

The win was more impressive as we only had 7 men and fumbler on the field. Our midget experiment almost backfired.

It looks like we are bringing the Gumbies Party to the Furies in the thread at the moment, but two away games in a row? Come on!

We've timed our run right, with a mid-season recruitment drive and hard training sessions early in the season, the team is peaking at the right time, with no help from Ben Cousins. :)

Whatever I took while not on the Gumbies list doesn't count... right?

Depends if the Estrogen pills are still in the system.
