Walla looks like he's played a full game HAHA.

Does it qualify for first kick, first goal if you do it after unretiring

First, it was only Hawthorn, they looked bloody dreadful, which makes it hard to gauge how good we were.

However, it was extremely impressive. Forward pressure was excellent, the press was excellent and defense held up really well.

Very good start and if that is what we bring in, week in, week out, it might be a great year.

I know its only R1 and its only the Hawks ... but god did it feel good and like seeing a totally different team to last year. Just watching us not give the opposition to complete run of the ground whenever we turned it over in the F50 was beautiful.

But also, WALLA!

Forward pressure was great and young players stepping up to play their role
Honestly have no idea how much of that was us being good vs hawthorn being that bad, time will tell
Hawks will play this off as a low expectation season but I think deep down they really thought they had a chance to win today with that team, delusional Mitchell is not Al Clarkson yet that's for sure

Hawks have one trick. Intercept mark and run it hard. That falls away when the mids run out of gas by HT.

No forward line. When Breust retires, they'll struggle to kick more than 60pts a game
Next 4-5 number 1 picks will be theirs

Cohesive forward half pressure and precision kicking makes a big difference and Setterfield, Weiderman look like blue chip, astute additions who can step in and play their role.

Real test will be to see how we bring it against those middle to upper tier sides this year. As long as we compete, show aptitude, structure and our younger guys develop then that's the main thing.

The noise for Walla was louder than the old 'Lloydy' chants that rang across the G in our glory days!
