This is about exactly how I see the squad. I do think LOB plays, in addition to Hollands and Acres. Perhaps Ed comes out to achieve the balance.B: Mitch McGovern, Lewis Young, Nic Newman
HB: Sam Docherty, Jacob Weitering, Adam Saad
C: Blake Acres, Patrick Cripps, Ollie Hollands
HF: Zac Fisher, Harry McKay, Jesse Motlop
F: Corey Durdin, Charlie Curnow, Tom De Koning
Foll: Marc Pittonet, Adam Cerra, George Hewett
I/C: Matt Kennedy, Ed Curnow, Jack Silvagni, Alex Cincotta/Lachie Cowan
Sub: Jack Martin
I think Cincotta will probably get the nod ahead of Cowan, however perhaps we see both if Doch is going to rotate through the guts more. Hollands may give us more than O'Brien.
With a healthy list we should be favourites, still no practice game time on a few who might be playing and Tigers still hold a bit of a mental edge on us. I hope we blood Cowan, remember that year Ratts debuted a young Tassy against the Tigers and his energy and willingness to get dirty was great. My sixteen year old son is so excited, jumped out of bed this morning saying , "only ten days dad".
I just hope we can repeat last year's performance.
The Tigers I know are much quieter than years gone by having been shut up last year.
We should go in as favorites although that means nothing.
We have to keep Bolton and Lynch in check IMO but overall if we bring the right intensity we
should have too much talent for them and start the season in the best possible way.

I think Cowan could be worth a shot on Dusty for a bit too, he's 1-2cm taller and has an extra kg or 2 on him apparently.
TDK is a key in this game, hope he can be consistently ok for the 4 quarters and none of this half game very promising with the other non existent. Perhaps not worth 2 rucks (I'd prefer Pitto but don't think he's ready), bring in Durdin, and potentially use JSOS, Durdin/Young in relief.
Interesting to see how the new 4 umpires thing works especially with holds to the forwards, this is where Harry and Charlie have to be smart and get in the defenders minds and draw them to panic.
Hope we win of course, but sitting on the fence for the moment as I still have a 10 days to mull over things.
Tom Lynch has nightmares of weiters beating him up every time since he developed his body in 2019My sixteen year old son is so excited, jumped out of bed this morning saying , "only ten days dad".

Still have nasty memories of his 8-goal haul against us with the Suns........ Not a good day.Tom Lynch has nightmares of weiters beating him up every time since he developed his body in 2019
I'm excited by that team. Great endorsement of our recruiting to have 3 players ready to make their AFL debut in round one. With a few returning
McGovern Weitering Newman
Cincotta/Cowan Young Saad
TDK Hewett Docherty
Acres Cripps Hollands
Martin Charlie Motlop
Durdin McKay JSos
Kennedy Cerra Fisher Pitto
Sub Ed
Emg: LOB Cowan/Cincotta Carroll Owies
I guess it depends how much stock you put in the Sydney praccy game against the Pies praccy game and the rest of the pre-season.I don’t see how Obrien gets a game over hollands
He’s still too fumbly and a little timid
Hollands i feel will be better in the long run and giving him games to adjust to the level is key

I was thinking of something much more conservative...

I learnt that in under 12s.............some things have changed - the football has air in it now and you can't take knives onto the ground - but not that......Like last year, umpires will pay a few more of those borderline frees, best strategy, be first to the ball
Edit, all of our forwards should be playing from in front

We haven't seen him play one of the mickey mouse games so don't have an idea, the club will know what his fitness levels actually are and if he's ready. Is McGovern a certainty for round 1, can he be trusted with no match fitness to come in and play 4 quarters, same with Jack Martin 2 players with long list of injuries I am not sure it is the game we want to be rolling the dice with under prepared players.
Has he been training with the main group, or missed sessions? Club may well be managing him to ensure he doesn't waste his body on Mickey Mouse games. but personally, i would have preferred him to play at least 1 of the games in preparation for Round 1.We haven't seen him play one of the mickey mouse games so don't have an idea, the club will know what his fitness levels actually are and if he's ready.
he's been on his own modified program, so doesn't do every session. Again, hard to judge from the outside. He only really missed the first one due to management, the 2nd one was never an option with the birth of a child.Has he been training with the main group, or missed sessions? Other end of the injury history spectrum obviously, but it's hardly like Saad having a bit of a light jog against opposition two weeks in a row has proven anything about his fitness.
I'd probably feel better about it too if I'd seen him play, but that's because I'm not at the club everyday & I'd like the reassurance of seeing it with my own eyes.
Not wanting to be a smartass, as I enjoy your comments on here, but my starting line-up has 3 of those 4 and yours doesn'tStill a very strong side and wouldn't be disappointed with that line-up round 1
Get the feeling that Voss wants to play endurance beasts given we have some speed out of the line-up
So, I believe 3 of Acres, Hollands, LOB, Ed will be in the 22
not sure you read the rest of that or my previous postbefore you select him in the side?
