Am I the only one that thinks #ShowingBallGate was a non-issue?

Not thrilled it was on Doc. But other than that..... meh
I can only speak of what it means for me... the act in and of itself isn't significant, but it represents something... for the better part of the last 10 years we've been watching games hoping we may win... now we are going to games knowing we can win, but hoping we will win... I'm looking for the next step of watching games expecting we will win, and any loss is seen as an aberration... having Tigs first up, and wanting to be 'relentless', it's a symbolic act in that regard... personally, I just hope our response is on the scoreboard (with maybe a few 'clumsy acts' along the way), and we show 'humility' in the end as we work towards KPI #1...

Can see a typical Round 1 kick off game.... one team will get a 4 goal lead, other team will peg it back and get a bit of a lead.... final quarter a team run over the top of the other in a 10 minute burst.

Cotchin and Jack should've hung them up, but I can see why they were retained - to maintain the Tigers aura of their successful period the last few years. This aura argument has been raised relating to Selwood retiring for Geelong, when Geelong is in a clincher, in the past you had Selwood bleeding and scragging in and showing the way.

Don't let the Tiger aura of yesteryear phase you, if they get momentum don't stress, main thing is to curb their X-factor and play a game of percentages and getting the hard ball. Once the Tigers start to find things difficult their players start to blow up and resort to unsociable football which will be more scrutinized this year with the extra umpire.

We play smart and to our potential, we should win, but alas still spooked by our show in against Swans the other week.

I'll take a 1 point win.

Gov, Doc and Saad looks a lot more difficult for them to contain - especially with Newman back. Hopefully our mids can put enough pressure on the ball that these guys can do some real damage.

I suspect the tigs team looks better on paper with guys like Reiwoldt and Cotchin quite a long way past their prime now and while dusty will still be good he is no longer the match winner he once was.

We should win this one even without Walsh. Can't understand why they are pretty strong favourites with the bookies.
Dusty's best years were 2016 and 2017.

Still useful as a 4th string goal kicker, but after that?

Blues by 44.

Miller 198cm, JSOS 194cm and a fighter and on 100 games... I'm now not worried about TDK on Nank... if that's a 50/50, then we should win out from centre clearances... it's just what we do when we don't have the ball, and now I can see why likes of Holland and Cowan got the nod. It'll be a good game...

more importantly, Miller 12 games, JSOS 99 games.

We must be hard & vigilant , Baggers can’t be smug or complacent , as anyone of Bolton, Martin, Prestia have the ability to turn a game, if just one them, lights it up quickly, it may be all over.
Got a good feel we’ll be ready for tough & close encounter, what a great beginning for our two 18 year olds, Ed must be over the moon too, amazing footy return.
Go Blues

Not a dad joke in sight?

Mods, ban this clown!!! :p
Will this do? :)

My son said to me, "Dad - if I'm ever being kept barely alive by a machine, unable to communicate, just pull the plug."

So I disconnected the Wi-Fi.

While I'm here Go Blues lets smash them and well done Jack Silvagni a real footballer, got the feeling we haven't seen the best of him.

So many unknowns in Rd1 for all teams - who has improved? Who has dropped off and how significantly? Have team deficiencies been rectified? New players etc.

You would presume any drop off is more likely to be in Tigerland with some ageing stars, but we don’t know how significant of a drop-off.

On the flip-side, it stands to reason that we should expect more improvement in our younger list, with a coach in his second year.

I rate Hopper so they’ve added some bulls with he and Taranto. That being said, we accounted for GWS twice last year and dominated for parts (Taranto played, no Hopper in first game but both played second game).

I’ve said all along that not having our dynamic/speedy/x-factor types (who tend to double as our better ball-users) available really hurts us bc of lack of speed across the board so it really sucks that we are without 4 of them, particularly Walsh and Cunners.. and another couple are coming in with little warm-up.

Had we played to the conditions in the re-match last year, I still think we would have been a real shot. We also had Cots, LOB and Newnes on the wings so expect improvement there.

It’s a real flip of the coin this one. I think Tigers deserve to be favourite given the unknowns and respective injury lists, but could easily go our way. If we handle the pressure (ie, the Tigers’ manic pressure), which is not something we’re known to do well, we should be ok.

Very interesting game and I’ve had little sleep for the nerves. Will be exhausted come the first bounce.

Doesn't make him a tough player, he will run 100 miles in the other direction when challenged.
See Fraser Brown v David King when King was trying to rough up Campo and Dog went top Campo's aid, King also had a reputation as a tough player departed the scene quicker than anyone I have ever seen.
If anything we should challenge "Nank the Tank" physically as I reckon he will become even 5h1tter than he actually is.

sorry but this drives me bonkers - on what planet are we likely to be "smug or complacent" after our past two decades? it must just be some sort of cliche people wheel out but I'm stuffed if I know why.........maybe the two losses in 95, maybe if we have won every game for 3 years and are coming up against the wooden spooners ..............but tonight? seriously?
