Like the look of our team. Bossy has plenty of options available.
Richmond are fielding a tall side. I doubt Grimes plays.

2019 we played Solda/Nank combo for the flag and Soldo went down late 2020 with an ACL otherwise would have been that same combo for finals to. We have shown our hand that we will play Lynch, Jack and Soldo/Nank up forward with Balta being thrown back or forward depending on injuries and match ups.

The stand rule changed how our pressure game was played and clearly this year Dimma is backing kicking long to tall targets with the likes of Edwards/Bolton around the feet. Throw in Dusty's stint up forward it makes it interesting on paper as to what defender teams would send to him in the past it has been a big bodied defender but if Soldo, Lynch, Balta and Jack are down forward makes it interesting? On paper it seems like a good idea but will it work in reality time will tell?

Should be a cracking game this year, I think over the last 4 or 5 years every round 1 game you have shown the glimpse and outplayed us in patches and eventually it will all click. Certainly recruited well over the last couple of years and regardless of result tonight I think you will finish 6-8th.

He likely spends a lot less time forward now and plays as a more permanent mid, right?

Seems that way but I hope not, might sound funny saying this but he is not a genuine mid. Great for the centre clearance stuff but I would rather him in the F50 , than racking up loose ball gets across the back half or centre.

Same can pretty much be said for the other end of the ground though, yeah?

Harry (204cm) -> Tarrant (196cm and slow)
TDK (203cm) -> Gibcus (196cm and on debut)
JSOS (194cm) -> Grimes (194cm)
Charlie (192cm) -> Broad (192cm)
Martin (186cm but jumps) -> Rioli? (179cm)

We'll also have the odd cameo from Cripps (195cm) and Kennedy (190cm).

If Pittonet (202cm) drifts forward then Nankervis (199cm) probably follows him.

We have a much greater KPP advantage inside our forward 50 than they potentially have in theirs. They've got good matchups for our third and fourth forward, but nothing close to our genuine talls.

Indicates that the midfield battle is going to be critical.
Depends where Balta plays. If he is in the backline then he has Curnow covered, Grimes has TDK covered even with a height advantage and Broard and JSOS are much of the same. Outside of McKay Martin is our biggest mismatch imo so hopefully he finds form.

If Balta is playing backline then I think we can back in Weitering on Lynch and I’d play O’Mac on a resting ruck which he should win and just accept Gov on Riewoldt may hurt us. Martin is always going to give us headaches. If Balta plays forward things get a lot harder but should help our forwards

Dow needs to find the hunger to hunt the man when we dont have the ball.

Also needs to find a way to stay engaged and involved for longer in the game

There's alot of good players ahead of him right now. Bit of a make or break year for him.

Needs to go to the VFL and work his ringer off. Get ruthless. Hunt the man. Hunt the ball. Work hard when we don't have the ball.

There's going to be injuries/suspensions/ form drops etc this year. The opportunity will come. He needs to make sure he's ready when it does, other wise he risks blokes like Carrol going straight past him, and before he knows it the AFL career is gone.

Competition for spots is only a good thing.

Understandable.
It would really mean Balta back, which makes more sense to me.

If Vlastin played Balta 100% stays forward. More often than not we back the intercepting of Grimes and Vlastin over taller backs like Garthwaite and Miller in the past. Those two can play taller but with Vlas out and Grimes under an injury cloud I think we will see Balta down back which surprises me that Caddy was not even an emergency as he could play a pseudo key tall role.
