That is a seriously impressive preview, very well done!

Round 1 games always make me equal parts nervous and excited.

We saw last year how hungry and fired up you guys were and I expect the same thing again this year plus a bit more.

I think this will be a close game, I know JLT doesn't mean a lot but both games we started very slow. If that happens again you will jump us like last year.

For what it's worth Caddy, Grigg and Castagna are all but ruled out and I would be shocked if Lynch plays.

And not sure If you are aware of this but you might hit the jackpot with Riewoldt possibly missing due to pending birth of first child.

Anyway, all the best for Thursday night and I look forward to seeing 6-8 x 100m penalties awarded across the game :p

cheers, michaels - straight up I for one would like us to pit ourselves against your best - full team - it gives us the clearest idea of where we are and it removes any excuses your supporters might wanna throw at us - good luck - also, we are deadset coming .........

Great preview lads. How good is footy season, eh?*

Yeah - Caddy out, George (Castagna) highly unlikely. I think Lynch might get up.

*I reserve the right to call the whole thing a sham if the result goes pear-shaped.
when the women on our board have done washing the windows in aph's office and baking me some muffins, I'm sure they'd love to hear from you as well....

Has anyone got any Info on Matt Kennedy, is he injured? Disappointed Talbot to have seen him feature in the JLT

No sure what others think but I get the impression we will be a better team from around round 10ish or about half way through onwards.I just think we’ll start to gel as a team (barring injuries of course).

So we'll have a better rear end than a front end?

Given our new and improved fitness levels, that stands to reason.
Even on the evidence of today, it's still a matter of the left hand getting used to what the right hand is doing. It simply takes time.

I've obviously missed something. Why's Fasolo in so many teams?
Can kick goals, apparently has been an issue for a couple of seasons.

I think this is highly likely. Our best 22 is pretty fluid and unknown at the moment. Certain guys will develop at different rates and overtake others. Once the team settles a bit and some continuity is gained we will start to see some improvement.

Nice outs for us, those guys always seem to play pretty well against us and no Lynch of course is a big relief since he always kicks bags on us even at GC.
Though you have crazy depth in those forward/mid positions, with guys like Weller able to step straight in and seemingly have a similar impact.

Higgins, Rioli, Lambert, Butler etc.

Having said that, Richmond are doing very well with injuries (again), we have 5 or so best 22 out including Docherty and Kreuzer.

Have watched the game twice now. Very very simple structures and I really doubt anything other than this happens in round one:

Back 7, with Jones and Weiters not coming off (except WHe Weiters got hurt): Thomas Newman Plowman Simmo Garlett.

That group won’t chnage. The 5 non keys rotated today and will again.

Forward 7 (who also clearly sat as a group at half time, with no Murph setters or any other there..): CC McKay McGovern Gibbons Polson Eddie Cunners.

That group isn’t changing. They want pressure big time and the 4 non bigs are designed to apply it in spades. The only change to this structure occurred when McKay went in to the ruck. At which points typically Crippa or Settwrs went forward.

No change to the forward structure will occur.

I could see them playing Kreuzer instead of Phillips but doubt it. They’d love him in there as the ‘extra mid’.

Mid seven who rotated were: Crippa Setters Murph Dow Walsh SPS and Fish.

It’s now more clear to me why LOB isn’t playing. He’s fighting for a spot in the mid 7.

I see no chnage for round one. Other than potentially Kreuzer but I don’t know where he’s at.

Hope Fasolo is ready for the Tigers together with Cuningham and say SPS would be three dangerous smaller players. Charlie, Mitch and Harry cover the tall timber, that’s a potent forward.

Pretty much as i see it too. Much thought and planning and training has gone into a workable and hopefully winning structure over summer. Team is pretty much set now. Then up to players to hold form or be replaced in the structure by others performing and training well currently not in the team.

Rd1 team:

Simpson Jones Plowman
Newman Weitering Thomas

Murphy Cripps Walsh
Phillips SPS Dow

Fisher Curnow Cuningham
McKay Gov Gibbons

Setters Ed Garlett Silvagni

Fasolo, Kennedy, O'Brien and Polson next in line. Then the injured guys get to make their case if/when others already in can't get it done.

The great year of interest/discovery now begins.
