Forget "ins" and "outs"

I'm very disappointed in our lack of effort gor the past........well, 6 weeks. With the exception of the Freo game, and lets face it, as a measuring stick, they aren't much chop and they nearly rolled us........but we have been EXPOSED as pretenders.
We are soft at the contest, and other than the Dees game, we have been SOFT, physically, mentally......SOFT.

In a year that is wide open, we should be taking that next step and pushing our credentials for a flag, just as the Dons are, the Tiges are, WCE is........

Injuries might excuse a small amount of class, but not effort.

I won't name names, but it starts at the top, and C Judd has been well below his best, even when he was surrounded by crap players and structures, he still had dominant patches. I have seen little of this for some time.

Our much hyped midfield are being handed their butts in a sling week after week, and that is putting massive pressure on our cobbled together forward and defensive line-ups.

Injnuries have hurt, but we were crap before they really hit.
We had Waite, Krezuer, Duigan, Hendo in the loss to the Saints, and the week before GWS mids had it over ours.

Before the game an article from CFC.com on Ellard, he was quoted to say:
"That's where we want to be, we want to improve on last year, if we don't want to improve and go top four then there's something wrong."

From where I sit, the effort would indicate the players don't "want" it enough.

So there IS something wrong, sadly, the coach will be the target, but each player should have a good hard look at himself, otherwise each one will have blood on their hands, surely they don't have to see another coach sacraficed to pull the finger out!

End rant.
Cats by 7 goals when I leave...........:-(
BB

wouldnt you love to see setantas 100% effort right now, another hair brained decision by this coach.what the hell did he expect to get from bower,he still cant see what a liability he is.he was redundant up fwd the other week but somehow ratten forgot that effort and put him back there, then he put him back where he continually lets us down(gws the exception but big deal)
so would the giants

I'm getting sick of hearing talk come out of this club and then not delivering on it.

Apparently, we were going to work on winning contested possessions & clearances after the Essendon game. Apparently that was a wake up call. Then we lost to the Saints and again, that was a wake up call. Then we lost to the Crows and Ratts said that was a "real" wake up call. Really? What sort of an idiot are you? Grow some balls and DROP the players that aren't performing that SHOULD be. I don't care if we have to put some players in that don't really deserve it, because they certainly don't deserve the call up each week!

We have to face the facts, in the absence of Murph and Carrots who has stood up from our "leadership" group? Robbo against Melbourne? Is that it?

Simpson, Scotland & Gibbs have all been pathetic. These are the players that I was expecting to stand up and show some leadership and lead by example. Scotland's disposal has been very poor by his standards and Simpson and Gibbs have been MIA for the majority of games. Both have been pea hearted giving half arsed efforts around contests.

When you couple that with players like Bower, Joseph and Curnow in the team, there's 6 non contributors we're having week in, week out, but that's not all:

Jeff Garlett has done SFA the past month yet he still gets picked. Why? Why is he still in the team after displaying such a poor attitude?

Walker is playing selfish footy again, if he wants to be a hero, why doesn't he audition to be Thor's sidekick in Thor 2? He had a chance to hb over the top to Touhy for a certain goal, instead he needs to be captain Carlton and kick the snap only to miss.

We are going nowhere with these players believe me, they MUST be made accountable especially the "leaders" that aren't performing. But it's too late now anyway, we can't drop them for the Cats game because we almost literally don't have enough players to replace them with.

Bower, Joseph, Russell and Curnow will all be delisted if the club has any brains. They don't play for the jumper, to them it's all a big joke.

Trust me Gibbs, Simpson and Garlett are skating on VERY thin ice, if they don't LIFT for the Cats game, then they must surely be dropped for the Eagles game because we're going to lose that anyway.

I'm sick to death of seeing these players in this team come out and play like as if they don't give a flying ****.

This game against the Cats next week is the most important one of the season, if we don't see at the very least, a relentless, hard at it team willing to work hard and run hard both ways and putting in MAXIMUM effort, then it's time to sack Ratten and rebuild because we can't move forward with a bunch of pea hearts that obviously don't care about the club and are only there to collect a pay slip.

Geelong love the hard, tough contested battle, does anyone on here actually think we will stand up? Bunch of seagulls will go missing as soon the pressure is turned up, we have proved over the last few weeks how piss weak we are.

Re: Round 11 vs Catters - Friday 7.45

1. You're
2. Yes, I'm not looking for a scapegoat. Bower has been immense in recent weeks.

I'm with you Zee, Everybody seems to be bashing Bower on here but he has been busting his arse in the last few games. While he hasn't had the best polish with his disposal the effort he puts into his attack on the ball is second to none. If everybody put the effort in he is week in week out then we wouldn't be in the position we are atm

Not only that they are a very skilled side. They have won something like 4 games where they lost the contested possesions, so basically we are ****ed.

We are a laughing stock at the moment and for good reason.

5 games, actually :p

Bower can't win a 1 on 1. Can't dispose of the ball effectively. Has poor decision making skills. He can run (usually into trouble) and puts his team mates under extreme pressure. Blokes don't wanna use him unless they have no other option. If we are going to improve he cannot play football for CFC.

Don't get me started on AJ, Ed curnow. Gibbs is a whole different conversation!

Hi guys,

Crucial game on Friday night for both teams and if it's anything like last year's match it will be a good one.

Where are you guys at with your injuries? I know Murphy, Carazzo, Laidler and now Scotland are ruled out. Are Waite, Henderson, Duigan and Kreuzer all realistic chances to return?

We are in the same boat as you with some important injuries and relying on inexperienced kids to step in.

Kelly looks almost certain to be suspended, Selwood was sore yesterday and Christensen was injured in the VFL. Apparently Enright is no certainty to return after he was a late out yesterday, however we will regain Corey, Motlop and Wojcinski is eligible after suspension (he hasn't played seniors all season). Hawkins had knee surgery last week and while the club said he would be OK for Friday, most of us think he's likely to miss and have the extra week (with the bye) to recover.

Best of luck and hope it's a good game.

Get ****ed. For the past few weeks we've been without our best Key Forward, Defender and best 2 mids. Not to mention Laidler, Duigan and Kruezer. Legit I watched you yesterday and you had probably one important player out, Hawkins. I dont even know if he was out. So get ****ed your know where near in the same boat.

Bit defensive?

We were also without our best forward Hawkins (leading the Coleman before this round) yesterday, who is likely to miss against you guys. Also missing Enright, Corey, Varcoe, Wojcinski (both of whom haven't played this year - equivalent of you guys missing Gartlett and Yarran all season) and two of our better young players in Christensen and Motlop.

I know the Blues have a lot of injuries, as do Geelong. Yesterday we had 8 players who have played less than 20 games, including two first gamers. No different to you guys throwing the likes of Bootsma and Watson into the deep end with some important players missing.

We have some posters on edge so bare with us, we are rock bottom.

Lollll.

Stopped reading at "one important player".

Who's the important one, Hawkins or Corey "2 B&Fs in 2 premiership years" Enright?

I just said Hawkins

Plus tell me how those players are equivalent to Murphy, Carrazzo, Laidler, Kruezer, Duigan, Tbird and more?

You have Taylor and Pods to back up for Hawkins. Plus you versed GWS. Corey to an extent is important but isn't isn't a long term injury. Enright is as important as Laidler for us.

Are you really trying to get one up on who has worse injuries?

Enright and Corey are both 3 time premiership players, multiple AAs and B&F winners. Just as important to us as Murphy and Carrazzo are.

You obviously don't know much about Geelong if you are talking down the importance of us missing Wojcinski and Varcoe all season. As I said, it would be like you missing Garlett and Yarran all season. They may not be your two best players but they provide an X-factor that not many others can/do. It's a bit rich listing Thornton since he is essentially a depth player - like Byrnes for us.

Anyway - point being - both sides have injuries at the moment and there will be a lot of sub-15 game players for both teams on Friday night.

Taylor played his first ever game up forward yesterday out of necessity. He isn't a swingman like Waite or Henderson who is used to playing forward or back.

Enright has been AA in the past 4 seasons and won the B&F in our last two premiership seasons, including last year. He's as important to us as Selwood and Bartel are - and as important as Murphy and Judd are to you.

You still have better depth. So for us a few key players can **** us up. Whereas the Cats get a few and they have replacements.

Re: Round 11 vs Catters - Friday 7.45

What a sad 4-5 weeks of Football.
Will the blues get back - looking unlikely. Need to go in with this side next week if available.

B: Yarran Jamison Lucas
HB: Duigan Waite Simpson
C: Scotland Gibbs Robinson
HF: Collins Henderson Betts
F: McCarthy Hampson Ellard

Foll: Warnock Judd McLean

IC: Watson, Bell, Walker, Sub: Tuohy or Armfield

Out:
Bower (fwd? Please)
AJ (battling)
Bootsma (give him a rest - been good)
Curnow (good in a good side - not when we r struggling)
Garlett (needs a spell and get his confidence and work rate up)

In:
Lucas (play the kid back and let him run & take risks
Waite (CHB this week if fit.)
Duigan (need his hardness - get nasty Duigs) - pre-season hurting him
Henderson (needs to start at CHF to give us an option across half-forward.)
Bell (Contested possesion machine - was good for Northern) - upgrade him.
McCarthy - Agile - give him a go - nothing to lose.

Dylan Buckley is a nice mover and should also play soon. He has a crack and good skills.

Umm, i think your lost pal, your listed side is Adelaide, but you keep saying us & we.....:rolleyes:

How these guys get a game ahead of Lucas defies belief.

Could be given a game down back for development but he is the 'Jonathan Livingston' of seagulls

Do we have any players from the 2s that look like they can come up?

No
