The key from the start will be pressure to not allow them to fling the ball around by hand, if we can do this it will severely unsettle them and based on there selections they are going to be using handball and run to move it, so if we can pressure them into turn overs and use our superior contested marking prowess we will win, if we come out like we did against Richmond we will be relying on catch up footy once again. Pressure pressure pressure and more pressure.

Good shout, I think it will be Kennedy. He and Silvagni are playing the same role.

I'd be more excited for a debut or return of Williamson, though.

Silvagni should be replaced by someone who is a forward. Emergencies Kennedy, Philp and Lang all have some forward ability. I think it should and will be Kennedy who replaces Silvagni, very much like for like and I do like Kennedy in the forward line.

Selecting Kennedy is shooting ourselves in the foot. We'll be far too slow.

REally don't want to see Lang come in and with the Dee's going for a bit more pace perhaps Kennedy isn't the right fit either. Would love to see Willo but his inclusion would require some adjustment to the team structure so perhaps it comes down to Philp?

Kennedy the obvious replacement for Silvagni along like for like lines given his current role as a medium sized forward, but gee I wouldn't mind seeing Willow or Philp in the side.

I see so many areas we can exploit. I'd be excited if i was Teague.

O.McDonald is trash but without him, i can only see 2 tall defenders in Lever & May.
May takes Levi...does Lever take Harry? That makes him accountable and not easy to play loose which he's good at. Then who takes McGovern and JSOS?

Demons might be hoping to exploit our tall forward line with run out of defence on a fast Marvel deck.

Up forward they have no talls of note outside McDonald. Jackson is a debutant who is more known for his ruck work and J Smith is average.

Overall they have 3 young debutants and essentially a 4th in Bennell...again we can exploit this.

My only worry is they've now injected some serious speed into their team with Pickett, Bennell & Hunt...so it's possible they carve us up on Marvel.

They actually have pretty big raps on J Smith in defence and he will get the job on Gov, has had a bad run with injury but I wouldn’t underestimate him.

I think Philpsy is closest match, but so is lang who has experience on his side.

Just double checked the rules - day prior to the match the replacement doesn't have to be one of the emergencies.

Makes sense it would be one of them, but not a requirement.

Plenty of options here, which is great. Especially considering we've now seen Melbourne's selected team and can select a replacement to suit.

Willo, Kennedy, O'Brien, Philp - they're the four I like for it. Depends a lot on the role we had in mind for Jack. If he was going to spend time on a Viney or Oliver, then Kennedy should come in. Defensive forward with the odd mid rotation would be Philp. LOB or Willo if we want to shuffle another name or two around.

Yeah I said a couple of weeks ago he wouldn’t get up for this game, syndesmosis is not something you come back quick from as we saw with Murph it is a lot more than just a rolled ankle. Dow has knee soreness as well so wasn’t omitted

Sad that JSOS won’t play, but these things happen. Of those four emergencies I’d least like Lang to play. I know a few have mentioned that the best like for like replacement for Jack is Kennedy, in terms of size and position played. I’d much rather a Philp or Willo, for speed/versatility/tackling. Unless Kennedy has drastically improved his mobility in the offseason/layoff, I think he is too one paced. Love him as a marking target in the forward line, but I think we’re OK there for once with Big H back.
Interesting decision.

Whoever comes in has big shoes to fill, Jack was terrific against the Tigers.

This is the option I like, McKay, Casboult and McGOvern are going to give us a real advantage in the air but we can't afford to have that used against us with rebound out of defence. A fast pressure forward would really round out a dangerous forward line.

There goes the idea of JSilvagni supporting Cripps, even if in short spurts.

Can't see it being Kennedy. No real need for him unless he's upped his midfield ability by plenty.
Williamson? But what for. We have the bases covered and if it was Newman or Newnes that went out, then yes.
Lang? I don't know. Don't like it, but it's posssible.
Philp? First gamer but he does offer what a little we don't have plenty of.....and he wouldn't be startled by the crowd either.

His pace and mobility will always be an issue but he has proven he can play at a pretty decent level as a forward. On speed we may not be overly quick up forward but we are not slow.

It's a tough call. I, like a lot on here would like to get a look at Philp. I would like to see Williamson in the side but he's currently squeezed out and I am not sure about us pushing a half back type to the wing to squeeze him in though it's a valid idea. Lang was ok last year and this year he looks in even better condition.

All fair options who bring a little bit different to the team.

If jsos doesn’t make it I’d go with Kennedy. Can mark and a good goal kicking option. Very accurate kick.

Honestly don't think Lang is as bad or undesirable an option as many people here have said (even if I wouldn't replace him for Jack)
He was taken as a first round pick by Stephen Wells, there has to be something to work with Lang.
