USA Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his role in the Trump government

As he is being given a role in the Trump government, and has announced his goals for their health system, a new thread is in order.

Let's track RFK Jr's goals.

Key Facts

Trump said last week he would let Kennedy “go wild” on health in his administration, but has not stated what role Kennedy would be appointed to, though the Washington Post reported Trump may appoint him to a “health czar” role, circumventing the Senate confirmation he would need to lead a government agency.

Kennedy said in a social media post he would seek to remove fluoride—a mineral added to drinking water that has been credited with improving dental health and preventing cavities—from tap water (which Trump said “sounds OK”), though health and dental experts maintain fluoride is beneficial.

In other social media posts, Kennedy said he would seek to “get toxins out of our food,” remove corporate influence from government agencies and ban pharmaceutical advertising.

NBC News reported last week Kennedy could head an initiative sources described as “Operation Warp Speed for childhood chronic disease,” speculating Kennedy may target obesity and diabetes in children.

Kennedy, who has repeatedly spread misinformation about vaccines, including the debunked theory vaccines cause autism, posted on social media last month he is “not going to take anyone's vaccines away” and wants people to be aware of “the risk profile and the efficacy of each vaccine.”

Trump, however, has refused to rule out vaccine bans as president, and said he would consult Kennedy and others before making a decision, while his transition team co-chair Howard Lutnick said Kennedy wants access to federal data about health to pull vaccines he deems “unsafe” from the market.

He has also indicated he would remove restrictions (or "aggressive suppression") on:
  • psychedelics
  • peptides
  • stem cells
  • raw milk
  • hyperbaric therapies
  • chelating compounds
  • ivermectin
  • hydroxychloroquine
  • vitamins
  • clean foods
  • sunshine
  • exercise
  • nutraceuticals, and
  • "anything else that advances human health and cannot be patented by Pharma."

He has also threatened to sack everyone in the FDA:

This all seems pretty nutso, including the fact he thinks there is aggressive suppression of sunshine and exercise?

I’d be surprised if he got past the senate to be appointed head of the FDA or anything important

may not even be able to get to a floor vote, the republicans on HELP are pretty moderate and might not even let his nomination out of committee

Probably he’ll end up in some WH advisory position with a fancy title and a fat paycheque

To my mind that depends on how much pressure Trump wants to apply.

Blind guess is this was a ruse to get RFK off the ballot.

The Bezos Post agrees he might just be given a job and told to go away.

IMO that's what Kennedy wants. A cushy job and the right to tell people what to do sometimes.

be interesting to see if any big pharma lobby dollars get in the way of his attempt at an advertising ban. i reckon big flouride could easily sway his wisdom. in fact he could just be putting out the call to come and buy his signature as much as he could be giving a statement of intention.

The Republicans will control the senate where none of em would Trump what Trump wants.

That’s not how it works… the Senate has its own power dynamic with the executive branch and they don’t rubber stamp anything

Senate republicans blocked or forced the withdrawal of several Trump nominees in 2017, no doubt they’ll knock a few back this time as well

RFK is a friendless loon so he’s likely to be top of the list for a no

It would **** us as well because the US is such a huge market for medical products that the FDA set the de facto global standard for all sorts of drugs and medical devices
Would Australia change their standards based on Jr's ranting?

There is a lot of stuff in the medical world where we have no real power to influence manufacturers because we are such a small market

e.g. new drugs, FDA approval is everything because the US is where the drug companies make their money

if FDA approval becomes easier then drug companies will happily lower their standards and in a lot of cases it will be a matter of take it or leave it - it’s not worth spending a ton of money on FDA-unnecessary R&D just to clear the TGA

I wouldn't mind a ban. Trying to watch football and there seems to be one or two at every break. What's especially weird is most of the ad seems to be the listing of possible side effects or prior conditions which require a doctor's counsel. :confusedv1:

Yeah its a weird system as they are usually prescription drugs so not really something the customer should have discretion over. But it's designed to get them asking their doctor for a perscription for the brand. "Ask your doctor if Bullshittymax is right for you!"

* Side effects include bowel irritation, anal bleeding, internal soriosis, necropathy, gender confusion, tinnitus, and super aids. In extreme cases death may occur. Do not take bullshittymax if you are pregnant or consume nourishment orally.

I love the ads on drugs especially reading all the side affects, too funny.

Already noises he’ll be sidelined. Was only on the ticket as they feared an election decided by **** all so they needed every vote.
