As much as people rave on about defenders not having an award to be recognised with, at least they have All Australian.

Outside of 1 player winning the Coleman each year, there is truly no serious recognition for forwards. Half the starting forward line are midfielders, it's just a pisstake at this stage

Honestly it shouldn't be that hard though!

Pick forwards who are you know forwards...

if you want to put 4 mids on the bench by all means but can we leave the on field positions to blokes in the right position!

Because he isnt a forward. And forwards who had great years missed out on selection because they named Bont in a position he doesnt play.

Either he warrants being selected in the position he lines up in every week or he shouldn't be picked at all.

Yep. No issue him on the bench, by all means, but picking a bloke kicking what was it 11 goals in the HF position is laughable!

If they want to name more mids just extend the bench to 6 or have 2 AA squads.

Or just use the bench and pick 3-4 of them. 3 in a year where there is a decent second ruck. They could have picked ALL of Bont, Martin and Dangerfield on the bench and no one would complain. Then you pick Butler, Papley, Gunston, whatever ones you want. How can these kick 3 times the amont of goals (you know the thing you are there to do as a forward) and not get picked!

Nah he is a legend and was a gun this year which is why he is AA for a record 8th time

He should be in the side but not as a forward that's the issue. Pick him in the middle or on the bench. Heck if they want some dumb inside mid as a winger he'd be a better choice than Macrae!

Forward 50 tackles:

Butler = 33
Dangerfield + Bontempelli + Martin = 32
Score involvements:

Dangerfield 99 (4th overall)
Martin 88 (11th)
Bontempelli 87 (13th)

Butler 72 (36th)

Why not? He played in the forward line for a large portion of the season

What is a forward's 2 main roles?

a) Forward Pressure
b) Goals

Both Danger and Martin if they are in the side are mids. They aren't forwards!

Yes, they have higher score involvements because they are involved in more chains of play due to them spending the majority of the game in the midfield and around the ball instead of actually in the fwd pocket.

He has kicked a third of the goals of Gunston for starters. Should be in the side but not as a forward. Get rid of Adams, Macrae to the bench, Danger to the win. Take your pick on Papley, Gunston or Butler in Dangerfield's forward position. I'm not saying he shouldn't be in the side but wrong position

That's one of the weirder sides you'll see and a few names who I dont think will get near the side again. If I'm picking a best 22 of AFL players to win me a game tomorrow my side looks a hell of a lot different, I know that's not the criteria but compared to other AA teams I reckon this one gets well beaten by teams of other years.

Personally I wouldnt have named Martin in the FP and if any Tiger was going to make it imo should have been Vlastuin either in the BP or interchange.

I have a hunch that Paddy Dangerfield will be picked at half forward and named as captain

... and everyone will be calling "bullshit" and saying he shouldn't have even made the team and he's not even Geelong skipper

I hate to quote my own post from earlier today and say I told you so...

How come Tom Hawkins leads the AFL in score involvements then? He spent 0% of his time on field in the midfield
