Agreed. would have to be one of the oldest aa to make it too. is he 35?

Last oldest was Enright in 2016, at 34 - the year he retired. Never seen a player be so at the top of their game, and go out on top.

Mundy is exactly that at the moment IMO, but looks likely to play on next year - such is the rich vein of form he's in right now

People debating Walsh/Mundy and arguing over it, need more of the old El Paso girl 'why not have both?'

In my squad they're both definitely in, and on field. Walsh has been Carlton's best player by a mile this year, and Mundy has been Freo's

I'll have a go:

FB: Stewart Keath May
HB: Short Lever Laird
C: Treloar Steele McLuggage
HF: Greene Walker Fyfe
FF: Martin McKay Boak
R: Gawn Macrae Petracca
INT: Walsh Parish Grundy Bont

Few blokes out of position but can't not have Fyfe and Boak in there.

Stiff: Oliver, Allen, Naughton, Guthrie, Riewoldt, Salem, Aliir

Sydney going great but they're a well spread team without any out and out superstars IMO

I'm sorry, but this reads like someone who's picking names from other people's lists/someone who had one good performance/someone picked due to their name last year or the year before, and who hasn't actually watched many games this year...

Fyfe, Grundy, Treloar, Dusty, Short, Parish, and Bont are nowhere near it this year. They might be come year's end, but someone like Parish has had one massive game and a couple of of other decent ones. Merrett is way ahead of him at the mo. Mundy is way ahead of Fyfe, and Short and Grundy are no chance. Also, Boak is not a forward and Laird is not a half back - that was 2 years ago. Wines is also ahead of Boak at this stage.

Odd selections.

Can't comment on the others, but Fyfe is having a very strong year when he runs through the stoppages - which is about 50% of the time and probably doesn't qualify him for a place in the midfield - plus he probably still misses out given the glut of strong midfield performers. But there is no way that he could get a spot on the half forward line with his current scoring record (1.12 plus two out on the full). Would be the ultimate reputation pick if he ends up on the HF line.

Still, Freo have been fantastic this year and if you finish Top 4 could see both Mundy and Fyfe getting in.

Ultimate reputation pick was Danger as a HFF imo.

I'll have a crack.
FB: Lever May Rich
HB: Jiath Allir Salem
C: Treloar Steele Langdon
HF: Petracca Walker Bontempelli
FF: Greene McKay Allen
FOLL: Gawn Macrae Walsh
I/C: Oliver Naughton Boak Mundy

Very dees heavy but I think it's fair enough tbh, Langdon and Salem reasonably iffy though. Who have I missed? Probably needs another defender, maybe Ridley.

Feels crazt that almost everyone rates McKay as the starting ff.

Dont get me wrong hes been good but imost Blues eyes hes still got a lot of flaws to work out and still is a tad inconsistent in terms of presenting repeTedly for contest.

Goes to show there isnt much competition this year. Particulary since loser guys like bruce have been mentioned

As someone said a few post ago, wines is having a better year than boak

Goals are a valuable currency, he's second in the league. Just wait until all the bug guns start to fire though, Dixon, Hawkins, Lynch all off to reasonably slow starts.

Given the starts that Melbourne/Bulldogs have had, it's realistic to have proportionally high representation.

Main change I'd give is that Keath should fit into defence, whereas I'd actually pull Bont out. Even if it means putting Mundy on field, take Bont out and Keath on the bench.

Not a massive fan of Keath but you're probably right. But Keath is still behind May, Allir, Lever and no way they pick 4 genuine keys. Plus, the selectors have a massive stiffy for the Bont, same with Dusty.

The way David Mundy is playing this season he must be in the all Australian conversation

I’m confused, you say in the conversation. He’s better than that, .... so far this season, he is the best player in the league.

Please explain by Bigfooty thinking, why most don’t have in their teams ?. Reasoning please.

I wouldn't have both Lever and May ahead of Keath, but this is largely up to our own biases. I think May missing a game hurts his chances at this stage of the season (considering it's a rolling AA) and I rate Keath ahead of Lever so far, but again - I'm probably biased. The first I'd be picking this year is Aliir regardless

Lever and Allir have to be in the side 100%, their intercepting and one on one ability is unparalleled atm. May and Keath is the only decision and tbh one's a genuine superstar and the others a terrific role player.

Probably because Freo have beaten up on easy beats with the softest draw in the AFL, Mundy completely disappeared when Fyfe was gone, and the AFL coaches award is a joke because if your coach loves you, you tend to get a ton of votes you probably didn't deserve.

For instance, Bulldogs players always get a ton of votes because win, lose or draw Beveridge throws votes towards his players.

Gawn, Petracca, Oliver, Salem & May would be in

Langdon, Lever & Pickett in the squad and very close too.
I don't think Oliver and Salem would be in. Agree with you regarding Gawn, Petracca and May though.

Personally don't think Pickett would be in the squad either.

This is factually incorrect.

Oliver has been better than Petracca acrss the 6 rounds so far.

Here's two examples:

In round 2 last year the Saints beat the Dogs by 39 points. Beverage gave 3 votes to Dunkley, 2 Votes to Bailey Smith and one votes to Williams.

In round 6 last year Carton beat the dogs by nearly 10 goals. Macrae got 5 votes (second most of all players), Keath got 3 votes and Bailey Smith got 1.

He loves his players, I don't blame him but it makes the award a bit of a farce.

Just had a look at the stats from these 2 games, vs the saints Dunkley & Smith had great games, and they didn't even get top votes. From game 2, macrae and smith were pretty dominant on the SC scores being 138 & 119, no Carlton player scoring more than 116, which was Jack martin and he got 8 votes. I don't think your point is well made here, especially considering how CD rated them. Would have to watch the game again to see Keath's influence, since he's a FB. Nothing out of the ordinary, surely those aren't the best examples you have?

Not sure about the AA team but there's a bunch of Port players having breakout seasons outside of your typical Dixon, Boak, Jonas, DBJ.

Aliir / Houston

Amon / Boak / Wines

Fantasia

Are all in the 40 man squad if it were picked tomorrow
