I’m not so sure. What 2024 might ‘look like’ could mean things other than an AFL list spot, eg a coaching spot (I’m not in favour) or Wright’s spot in the SANFL.
If we keep him on the list and play him in the SANFL and have him as break glass if we have a run of midfield injuries, we could keep Wright as the "former player" spot.

I'd only accept this if we have ample spots and can take 2 or 3 picks in the draft. We are still in the rebuild, and need kids coming in.

Frankly, I hope he can see after his "slowdown" mark, that he might still work hard and be able to impact in patches, that the team needs more impact than he can deliver across the season. He probably is valuable in the SANFL with the kids.

Bel will want to go back to Melbourne when he retires. Happy wife, happy life.

that's how they list the sub from the previous week if they're then not named in the 22. The 'sub' refers to their role the previous week, not this week.
Kelly said he will be sub. Which is interesting, how many times have we announced it so soon? Obviously didn’t want speculation that Sloane had been dropped

Sloane instrumental as the sub in the last quarter and half - 25% game time. 12 touches and 5 clearances.
Excellent job as the sub - arguably best on in the last quarter

Yeah he was very good. Has had some good last quarters during the year but was encouraging seeing him to do it as the sub. Game was genuinely up for grabs too, GC weren't too far off.

Only question now is whether they keep him there or try and rotate him out for full games like we've done with McHenry etc.

So he should be given it was a very bruising contest for the first three quarters. If he can't play 4 quarters at the level it's time to give guys like Sam Berry and Schoenberg etc that can play 4 quarters the opportunity to take their games to the next level

Dude WTF!

In a Rory Sloane thread the 1st words I read are " I accept reality and recognize my time has come to an end "

And it's about Trent ****ing Cotchin! Dude

Good to see that Shuey who like Sloane was mistakenly offered another year did the right thing by the club and retired. Sloane has already said he will never retire. That's a great team first attitude. One can only hope that Nicks has half a brain and plays him where he deserves to be played next year in the backline of the SANFL.

Not going anywhere.

I don't know, this seems like corporate speak to me. Trying to sound like you're saying something when you're actually saying nothing.

"What he has delivered this year has been absolutely unbelievable" but then goes on to specify that he means recovering from an ACL, going through rehab, being a role model, and relinquishing the captaincy. It's worth noting that none of those things were Rory's choice. Then mentions that he has had a "terrific output" which are weasel words at best.

He then says they were planning to hold off discussions with him until after the bye, which they did. They want to discuss what 2024 "might look like", which could very easily mean Rory is delisted and not playing AFL anymore. And then he points out that they are aware that Rory wants to play on, specifically leaving out any comments about whether the club also wants him to.

Not exactly a glowing endorsement.
