I don't know, this seems like corporate speak to me. Trying to sound like you're saying something when you're actually saying nothing.

"What he has delivered this year has been absolutely unbelievable" but then goes on to specify that he means recovering from an ACL, going through rehab, being a role model, and relinquishing the captaincy. It's worth noting that none of those things were Rory's choice. Then mentions that he has had a "terrific output" which are weasel words at best.

He then says they were planning to hold off discussions with him until after the bye, which they did. They want to discuss what 2024 "might look like", which could very easily mean Rory is delisted and not playing AFL anymore. And then he points out that they are aware that Rory wants to play on, specifically leaving out any comments about whether the club also wants him to.

Not exactly a glowing endorsement.
Like his captaincy, the decision will need to be made for him.

Yet, when you here Silvers say these words, it feels like he’s not going to be offered a contract.
There's some conflicting info coming out of the club if that's the case. It's been reported that he has already been offered an extra year.

adam kelly was interviewed on SEN this morning, and was asked about rory sloane being resigned. said it was being worked through at the moment.

the language seems to have changed slightly from the club, doesn't appear to me to be when he will sign anymore, moreso if he will

could also be very wrong..

Maybe they have seen the string of retirements of players who are performing better than Sloane.

If we sign Rory for another, that means next year we have Rory, Smith and Tex all out of contract at the end of 2024.
Maybe the club will look to stagger the retirements over a few years and Rory is the first to go this year ?
They have to

The club cannot talk up 'experience' then allow themselves to (possibly) lose all 3 at once.

Easy to work through.

“Rory 2 games as sub and now you’re dropped”

“Hint?”

I missed Caro interview on 5AA but Rowey said at the end the most interesting thing is we will find out next week what’s happening with Sloane.

Surely that means announcing retirement and farewell home game against Sydney?

Wilson said she thinks he is retiring.

Brodie Smith reckons he's playing on.

And now Rowey to Smith after a ******* text “it has to be Rory’s decision, he’s earnt that right”.

Senior player Smith who will be in a similar position soon “absolutely, he’s earnt that right”
Bullshit Smithy. A club needs to decide when a player isn't up to it anymore. Blight or Craig never had an issue with it. Of course players who are only thinking of the cash will want to play on forever.

Heard someone on the radio suggesting that 'Sloane has earned the right to decide when he wants to go'.

No actually he hasn't it's the Adelaide Football Club, not the Rory Sloane Football Club - the club was there before he got there and will be there when he has long gone. Absolutely absurd to suggest a player of his calibre can dictate terms on when he should leave.
